Most of their foods are expired. Don't waste your time and your money at this Walmart. It's all disgusting!

Came here in a rush before it closes at 11pm. I got here at 10:54pm, the door is locked and an older Walmart employee wearing a mask made a hand gesture signaling that they are closed. With a shocked look on my face, I pulled out my phone and showed him the time through the window saying it's 10:55pm and he came to the door to unlock it to tell me that he was told that they are closed. I pointed to the hours on the door saying they are open till 11pm and it's only 10:55pm, he said sorry we're closed. I told him that's illegal and he replied "call the cops then" . At this point I'm enraged because I literally left my house in a rush to get here before they closed, I ran from my car to the door, my heart was racing to make it before they close at 11pm as their company says, only to be told by one of their lousy employees that they're closed at 10:55pm and giving me a snarky remark to call the cops . I replied back "your kidding me" he said "what?" I repeated my self and he kept saying "what?" As if HES the one the can't hear ME, when in reality I was having a hard time hearing HIM cuz he sounded muffled through his mask. So I went to my car and I pulled up in front and tried to get him to come back so I can ask him what his name was and if I could speak to his manager, he made a hand gesture that he was not coming back, so I started knocking on the door and he walked the other way talking to another employee, so I took a picture of him and the hours on the door, hopefully this review gets seen by his supervisors and I'm sure they're gonna pull out the video footage to verify. He needs to be reprimanded. I usually don't go out my way to write any reviews as you can tell by my Yelp history, but this guy really messed up, he deserves it and so does walmart.

    This is pretty darn disgusto.

As far as all the Walmarts in the area go, this is my absolute least favorite of the bunch. Everything is always a complete mess here. Not only are things thrown here & there with no order at all but things are just pretty gross. Like the makeup section? Ew. I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy makeup here even in a pinch when everyone tests every single nail polish & lipstick out on the displays. What's wrong with people!? They are out of stock of so many of items here, too. However they do have a good clearance section. The people at this Walmart could fill the pages of a PeopleofWalmart calendar with great ease and they have to be some of the most self involved shoppers ever....don't pay any attention to anyone around them. Parking is an absolute nightmare but I've found if you park on the side of the store, you can get a pretty close spot and [mostly] avoid the most horrible drivers on the planet. I feel kind of bad for this Walmart because it's a victim to it's clientele. However it's as if they've given up. They think eh...it's all gone to heck anyways, so why even try!? Sadly this is the closest Walmart to my house so when desperate, I'll be back.

I have been here at many different times of day/days of the week, and somehow it's ALWAYS super crowded. Like most Walmarts, even when the checkouts are super packed, they only have like one or two human cashiers open in addition to the self checkouts. So if you're buying anything that will require a cashier (alcohol, cigarettes, anything else "behind the counter"), just anticipate that it's going to take quite a long time to check out. I had a mostly positive experience during three visited over three days. A woman whose name I didn't catch walked me clear across the store, waited for me to pick the item I was looking for (it wasn't there, took all of 30 seconds) the walked me to the section where the surge protectors are. There was a nearly five minute wait at the pickup counter on my third trip (I was the only one in line) but I was attended to immediately on my first trip. I will definitely be back to this WalMart

However, although the clerk I had was super nice, I saw another clerk walking around the floor with his mask directly under his nose, so basically he is breathing on the outside of his mask and wherever any droplets go, towards people, into the air- wherever. I had no idea he worked there, until I saw him at the register. I let the lady behind me go in front of me because I was afraid of my inner whatever bad name people are saying these days about women. Then I had to go through the line again because I had left an item in my cart. The lady by the carts was also very nice... I decided to buy some caramel corn for later, and it was expired. I did have a funny feeling about it, but ignored it because I got called to the register. That is sort of gross. I am not sure that is what stores are suppose to do. You can't donate expired food to a food bank though. I threw out the receipt because it was only that and a skincare item. Plus every time I walk in there it cost me more than 4-5 dollars (the price of the popcorn. I will still come here, but I am not going near the guy with the nose mask or buying any gourmet food without checking it first. Maybe I will skip that too. It's just like "Wow, that was there that long!"

So I went to the alternative self-service fitting rooms (All 2 of them that were both occupied and there was a line of 4 people to use the 2 fitting rooms) I brought my cart to the front of the store and left, leaving my items in the cart. The last time I was there the same thing happened, only I also had to use the restroom which was of course locked and since the fitting rooms were closed then too, I had to make my way all the way back to the front of the store to find someone to unlock the restroom. The someone never came and I again had to find someone to unlock the restrooms. There was also another woman and her child waiting to use the restroom. When I came out and went to the self-service fitting rooms they were occupied with a line of people then too. So I left my cart of things and walked out. The service there is deplorable. How does a store stay in business when their only concern seems to be the theft issues? They pay a guy to stand at the door and check your receipt 5 seconds after you have paid but no one is there to help the customers who actually want to buy something. I believe I have given up on that store.

The first time I was there picking up a detergent that's out of stock at the other Target stores close by my home. I went in to also pick up a few things, and noticed that the layout of the produce department was more spacious, modern, and pleasing looking than the other Target stores. It functions well and I like it. The second time was a simple incident, a special shout out to two friendly employees who went above and beyond for me! I was going to pick up a monthly freebie from the "Target 360" app, which was a Super Mario Mushroom Plush Clip-On valued at $8.99. I received the app for free as a promotion from Target. As I checked that this item was only in stock at Arlington Heights at the time, I went to this Target to pick it up. Since I was not familiar with the layout of this store, I asked the staff named Milo (who's in charge of the self-checkout area) about where to find the item. It was a Sunday and the store was super busy. He still kindly checked for me. But his phone showed that they didn't have stock, and he checked that the closest store with stock was Palatine. I wanted to double check at the department while I was there. Milo checked that if they had the item, it would be at BB8. When he didn't know where that was, he even checked with another cashier for me. When I was in the back area where BB8 was supposed to be at. A staff named Anna was organizing other items in the area. I asked her, she checked that the item was out of stock, but she insisted to go to the back room to check. She came out shortly after with the Super Mario Mushroom Plush Clip-On! With a smile on her face, she asked me if that's the item that I was looking for. Yay, thank you for saving me a trip to another store. Anna said that the items just arrived and they would put them out the next day. Anna is a group leader, she definitely delivers great customer service! On my way out, I purchased another item and told Milo about the situation, just in case he would encounter another customer like me, haha. I thanked him and he was happy that I got the freebie.

While the opening of this store did bring something different, I'm not sure it was exactly the different that I was hoping for. The big draw of Amazon Fresh is probably in its tech. There's Alexa throughout the store to give you guidance and nice digital signage throughout. This does give the store a more modern feel, though having been to other Amazon Fresh locations, I was hoping that it would feel a bit more futuristic now. However in this regard, Amazon Fresh just feels very similar to whole foods with a bit lower prices and different brand options. In terms of the cart, this is where I wish that it were improved a bit. I'm not sure that the scanning is really significantly better than what they've had in the last few years, which for me makes this process not a smooth and effortless as it could be with even better technology. The initial setup is also still a bit confusing for newcomers who may find the pairing process with the cart a little confusing without someone to point out where to find the links on the interface. Similarly, without a little guidance on the self-checkout process, it can be a bit confusing as well. The food selection here is pretty standard for an Amazon Fresh, which isn't too different from what you'd expect to find at Jewel. There are different pricing levels available, with a lot of the most competitive items being store brand with Prime pricing. Overall selection seems to be quite good in the dry goods and frozen items -- I was a bit disappointed in some of the fresh items as I was hoping for more in-house items in the bakery and a bit larger selection of ready-to-eat items. While they don't have a bad selection, many local grocery stores have a substantial number of cakes, breads, meats, entrees, etc. available to easily pickup and very competitive prices. This alone may keep me from visiting more often as having a variety of these convenient entrees is important for my busy work schedule and fresh bakery items / cakes is important for my busy social schedule. Overall, interesting new option in the area for groceries. While not bad, it doesn't meet my needs as good as I'd hoped at the time of this writing - however the overall store cleanliness, generally competitive prices, and use of newer technologies is something that's still not common at other grocery stores yet.

The self checkout systems are decent though the hardware needs serious work. Touch screens take way too much force to activate.
