If anyone gives this place less than 5 stars, they can't be telling the truth. I walked in with no idea what I needed, felt a little overwhelmed by the amount of equipment they have but Ron asked me a few questions and then narrowed down the choices to three for me. I feel they are honest guys who love photography and enjoy helping others enjoy it as well! They beat the heck out of a big professional box store.

Walking in some may feel it's not organized....but some may see the shop for its treasure trove of photography and history. Plus the staff knows where anything you need is located. There is some really cool older pieces along with the latest equipment too. They have both. What you will not be able to purchase online is the people and the experience of excellent caring customer service. The gentleman running the shop know their stuff and genuinely have a love of photography. There is a lot of experience I was learning from just walking in the doors. There isn't many places like this available to shop at where a great bargain is mixed with the excellent service and experience knowledgeable staff. We had stopped in for a Cannon Macro lens for my work and my young teenage son was able to get a good deal on some lenses for his camera too. We would highly recommend this shop to anyone for their photography needs.

Like the other reviewer, we waited quite a while past our appointment time before we were able to be seen. It was extremely overcrowded inside. I'm not sure why the make appointments if it's going to take so long to actually be served. It's especially annoying when you have a baby who also has to wait and only has a certain amount of time before he's going to need a nap. By the time we got called back the baby was already tired and fussy. We somehow got some good photos anyway but then had to spend hours going through each photo and listening to sales pitches. The guy made it seem like the only option to get pictures was to spend $599 on a package. It was frustrating and took forever. I think the whole experience lasted over 3 hours.

To put it in perspective, my youngest is 5 yrs old and the last time we were there, he couldn't sit up fully on his own. Needless to say, he loved getting his photo snapped! I loved being able to book my appointment online, which you can do up to 2 weeks in advance. Pick you date, pick your time and you're done. I got an email and text confirmation as well as reminders. It's also easy to cancel or reschedule. Because I didn't have time to shop for a last minute details, I rescheduled online as easily as my initial booking. My boys were booked for a Wednesday at 5:30pm, their latest appointment. This was a big deal! I avoided the wait people experience on a weekend. Waiting to get your kids' picture is terrible - don't mess up your outfit, don't touch your hair, don't have a meltdown and begin crying ... all of that. We walked in early and the photographer took us back right away. The photographer snapped individual and group shots of the boys on several backgrounds - sitting, standing, etc. Quick and painless. And, he asked if there was another type of shot I wanted before ending the session. After the photo session, we sat in front of a large TV screen and he pulled up the pictures. We went through approx 60 pictures, in groups of 3, picking our favorite of each pose. This helps you to narrow down what you do or do not like. It also gives the photographer an opportunity to sell bigger picture sets above and beyond what you came in for. Some people find great pressure in this ... me, not really. It's easy to fall in love with shots of your kids, but I only want what I really love. At the end, I only loved a handful of shots and it was easy for me to walk away with my 1-pose promotion. The studio prints your photos there and it takes about 15 minutes. Photography is an art. You aren't going to get the type of portraits you see advertised for weddings, family sessions, etc. For that you need to contract with a photographer that takes you onsite. But, for a studio session, like I remember as a kid, Portrait Innovations does the trick, getting you a decent sized package so that you can share a picture with several family members and friends.

Luckily the hair & makeup was in the good hands of Jacquelyn's Salon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jacquelyns-salon-and-spa-louisville), but how was I going to pick a photographer - Help me Yelp!!! First, I read reviews and really combed the Yelpers pictures. Studio E had a strong presence and I liked what I saw. Next I took to the Wild Wild Web, to see which photographers had a good web presence and what I found was amazing. To me, your website is like walking into your studio. It should be well organized, up to date and "clean" (no misspelled words, etc.). It should not be full of stylish pictures of you and your family, it should not have last year's dates and why is that family standing in front of a house? Art is one thing, wacky is another....does every picture have to been totally off center? I know, back to my mission and I'm looking for professional head shots and once again, Studio E Photography's website scored 5 stars. Wow, they even had their pricing structure clearly stated and easy to find. The pictures on it was stylish and gorgeous. And hey! I remember see that bridal picture on Google images when I was researching my Gillespie review! Michelle called me back in a timely manner and we made an appointment for an outside photo shoot. The day of the shoot, it was raining, and she called and offered to move it. But I already had the whole hair and makeup appointments set up, so we did the inside shoot. It took about 45 minutes. I could not be a model. I don't have the patience and do not take direction very well. And there is the whole, "stand this way" and "put your chin that way"....but Michelle was super patient with this photo novice and let me comb through pictures and change blazer to sweater to blazer. No to the blue blazer that made my hair look like bozo orange. She was casual and easy to talk to. Her whole demeanor puts you at ease and the studio is a cozy little office off of Hurstborne with the beautiful portraits lining the stairs on the way up. I felt very zen in her sitting room as we looked through other head shots. The pictures were ready the next day and she Dropbox'ed them to me. They were great! I've gotten so many compliments on them and they are plastered over all of my social networks and resume sites. She sized them perfectly for uploading. This helped seal my resume package and gave me the confidence to go after those Senior level jobs that I have the experience for! Thanks so much Michelle and the Yelp Community that helped me find her.
