Walking in some may feel it's not organized....but some may see the shop for its treasure trove of photography and history. Plus the staff knows where anything you need is located. There is some really cool older pieces along with the latest equipment too. They have both. What you will not be able to purchase online is the people and the experience of excellent caring customer service. The gentleman running the shop know their stuff and genuinely have a love of photography. There is a lot of experience I was learning from just walking in the doors. There isn't many places like this available to shop at where a great bargain is mixed with the excellent service and experience knowledgeable staff. We had stopped in for a Cannon Macro lens for my work and my young teenage son was able to get a good deal on some lenses for his camera too. It was two weeks ago, on cool Sunday afternoon, and we were walking back to our car after an…read moreafternoon at a couple of museums. The streets of Louisville were light on traffic and very few people walking. As we were walking back to the garage we spent some time window shopping. As we near The Alley Theater we stop at the lobby window and look at the cool arts and crafts for sale. At least. ..they weren't officially for sale, yet. We comment on how cool some of the items were when a lady standing nearby overheard our interest. She then told us she was the owner and ahe was opening tomorrow. She gladly offered us the opportunity to go in and shop if we were willing to pay cash and exact change. We couldn't resist and went in. About 20 minutes later we were the first sale for Awesome Opossum! We took a picture with the owner and signed the $5 bill for framing! Since then we've wanted to return and shop during official hours. We stopped by today and this is a great little A&C store along Main Street. This street gets a lot of foot traffic and metered parking is available along the street..... if you can find a spot! The store is located within the lobby of The Alley Theater and, although small, it is filled with a nice variety of arts and crafts and artwork from local artists. We bought a couple of bracelets that were a bit too short. The owner was awesome enough to add a few links to lengthen them and we walked away with some pretty cool stuff. Prices are reasonable and the owner tells us the inventory will rotate. We love supporting local artists and local stores. Awesome Opossum is a great addition to the local business scene.
