This place is a zoo! I've been to this Walmart several times over the years due to its convenient location next to the 880. Between its general dirtiness and questionable shoppers, I've never had a good experience. It does have the things you expect in Walmart, and at low prices. It also has the People Of Walmart, who make the shopping experience here something to endure. Once, when I was walking in, a woman driving a minivan started screaming at a man walking into the store for no apparent reason. Strangely, this was one of three Walmarts in this immediate area. The one at the Hegenberger exit closed, the other at the 880/238 interchange (also in San Leandro) is still open. The other San Leandro Walmart is better than this one on Davis, go there instead. read more

i only shop here because of convenience. Every item is locked up, even $1 items. Maybe they have to do this but it becomes a problem when there's no employees available to unlock anything. I spend half an hour waiting pressing the unlock button to get daily essentials like band aids or toothpaste. I will approach employees asking them to unlock the cases and they stare at me then walk away. Meanwhile there's 4 armed security guards at the door and someone checking your receipt. I'm no security expert but i feel like this system just inconveniences customers and probably isn't the most effective at combatting crime. read more

I have finally given up! I refuse to shop here any longer. I cant spend my money where I'm made to feel like criminal. Every day items like Laundry detergent, bath soap and hair products are locked up. Even $3 eyelash adhesive! I can't even ring up my own items in the SELF CHECKOUT lane and online pick up is unreliable. The self checkout is always my go-to at any store. I hated the fact that I always had to ask for bags that are normally sitting out at other stores. They were so afraid you might try to get around paying the $.10 freaking cents. When you would ask for a bag they would come around and enter it in the system for you. I would get pissed and say " I can do it myself'. Dammit. lol. But now, you can't even ring up your own items in the SELF CHECKOUT lanes because they think you are going to steal. (photo included) You heard right. They have a cashier standing and every self check out register waiting to ring up your items for you, which defeats the entire purpose of self check out. when I asked about the change, the cashier said it was the 'manager's orders.' Good luck finding a parking spot after 9:00am, especially after the addition of Burlington and Ross. This parking lot is a nightmare and it doesn't help that there is only 1 main entrance/exit. I thought I would resort to online ordering /pick up but when I placed an order last week that should have been ready the same day, I ended up cancelling it since my items weren't ready for at least 3 more days. Saw a deal on a pour over coffee maker sold by Walmart.com. Having had sub par pick-up experiences in the past at both WalMarts by me, I hesitated but bought it with ship to this store and hoped for the best. After I received my "Your Pickup Order is Ready" email, it said if I checked in with the WalMart app when I was on my way, my order would be ready when I arrived. Entering the store, I went up to the Pickup kiosk to enter my order info, which I assumed was to notify them I was here. Somehow after entering my info, I did not get any acknowledgement from the kiosk system. I asked the worker that was by the door about the kiosk and she said it has been having issues and for me to go to the pickup desk in the back. I make my way to the unmarked "pickup up desk' next to the bathrooms. I assumed this was the desk, based on a prior visit. Standing there, no worker was there nor did one show up. I walked outside and spotted a worker and told her I was here to pickup an order and no one was there. She took my pickup email, scanned it and went to get my package. She came back, printed a receipt, gave me a receipt, and my pickup was complete. About three years from my last pickup, the experience has not gotten any better. The area is high crime, parking lot is extremely dark, no lights, dangerous to go at night. Security guards stay inside and stand around chatting with their friends or giving customers the stink eye. Many items out of stock, last week there was no lactose free whole milk. No whole milk at all, except for one lonely and suspicious gallon that was dented in and marked. The lines are stupid long, cashiers slow. Inefficient, like ring everything up then realize maybe they should bag it, then move as if it is incredibly painful or heavy to bag. Slowww. If you want to skip that, you used to be able to go through self check out but now you can't. Those lanes are reserved for customers that put the Walmart app on their phone, then scan items into your bags as you shop, then pay before you get to the lane for app scanner users, via whatever method like PayPal, then get inspected by super annoyed employees who scowl at you. BUT if you use PayPal card you need a magic way to add cash to your PayPal card, bc although PayPal says you can add cash to your account at any Walmart whenever, this Walmart only performs that function at certain hours at a totally different line to the side of the store, so if you get there late and don't get robbed in the parking lot and need to add cash to your card you're going to just stand there and wait and suck it up. Or put everything down on the ground and walk out. Bc this place isn't worth the wait. Did I mention it's very LOUD in this store? read more

Gosh I hate everything about this Walmart. Because they closed the Walmart on Hegenburger/Edgewater down in Oakland, this is the closest location to us. However, we decided to stop making the drive all the way out here. Only good thing about the location is the cheap prices and occasional deals on electronics. Besides that, this SuperCenter is very lacking. Shelves for items are sometimes empty, dismal to some degree, and I can never find what I want here. Customer service is also non-existent or very bad. Workers here, especially the cashiers here are unfriendly and argumentative. The whole "customer is always right" motto is thrown out the door. I've never received such rude help (or lack thereof) in my life. For some reason a lot of things are locked up, like the $4 phone charger and $5 allergy medicine I came for. Because these things are locked up, I had to ask someone to come get it for me. The problem begins with the allergy medicine. There's no one around to help you get it, and eventually you lay your eyes on a small red button to call for assistance. After waiting there for about 10 mins, I eventually saw someone who worked there coming my way. I asked her if she could open it and get it for me, but she said to go to cosmetics because they have the key there. At the cosmetics area, I asked the older lady at the register if she could get the allergy medicine, and she stood there laughing saying how she couldn't leave the register unattended. I then asked if she could call someone else to open it if she couldn't leave, but she kept laughing and refused. I'm not sure if she just didn't comprehend or what, but it was incredibly frustrating trying to get help from someone who was too lazy to call someone else to come help. If you need to buy anything where you need human interaction at all, I don't think you should come here. read more

Every man for himself at this Walmart! I stopped by here to pick up an item I saw online. I walked the aisles thinking I knew where it was, but finally had to ask an employee for help. I was surprised how easy it was to find someone who worked here, but I ended up having to ask 8 different employees to find 1 item! The first 3 employees could barely speak English and could only let me know they didn't know what I was talking about. The next employee only did re-stocking and could not help me. The next employee just started working there and was not familiar with the store. The next employee thought I was referring to a facial product when it had nothing to do with the face. The following person was from Hallmark and was just restocking the floor and was not a Walmart employee. Finally, the 8th person I asked was a woman who spoke English fluently and knew what I was looking for. I was so grateful for her help and nearly hugged her for leading me to the right aisle. I didn't want to, but the following week I had to go back to make a return. While standing in the long Customer Service line, I noticed multiple carts lined up along the walls where items that needed to be placed back onto the floor were sorted. As I was talking to another customer in line, a man ran into the store and grabbed a large box from the cart and ran back out! That's right, we had all witnessed a man stealing, and he was even caught on video. Don't leave anything inside your car and do not come at night! read more

It's Walmart, how great or ungreat can it get? Anyways, they finished up remodeling and how have an extensive collection of food! Just never ending isles, (I wish) of food. They also installed refrigerators, so there's ice cream, frozens, meat, etcetc in addition to having fruits and other perishable items for sale. They changed up the interior of the store, but offer maps for those who are new to the changes. The return lines are running more smoothly and shorter, from my experience. Overall, they have more selection and the store looks less cluttered. Plus, the McDonalds now has free wifi for your shopping convenience! I'm glad they opened two more walmart smack back to back to the Davis street one, so whenever I come there aren't that many people. Plus, they now open until midnight. read more

Definitely one of the less appealing interiors, it's old and they haven't cared for it. Be careful of the horrible drivers in the lot. This Walmart has gone downhill over the years. What use to be family friendly grocery shopping has turned into a dismal and frustrating shopping experience. If you need items behind glass, it's almost impossible to find a worker to help you. Despite pressing the assistance button, I probably had to wait 20 minutes until someone came and unlocked the glass for me. Even in the beauty section, there was no worker to be found. At least the helper came quicker this time (less than 10 minutes). I know the workers are understaffed and underpaid so this definitely is a management/corporate issue. Also the lines here are ridiculous; average wait time to reach check out is 20 minutes. So if you're looking for cheap items and have ample time to kill, then Walmart is great. This definitely will not be a quick grab-n-go experience. read more

The store was a nightmare. I came here to pick up a few essentials (new socks, body wash, toothpaste, batteries, etc.). However, a majority of these were locked. I had to go through the trouble of walking all around the store trying to find an employee and they seemed annoyed that I needed their assistance to get those items. The aisles were also disorganized and cluttered. The lines were ridiculously long. Tried to get in one line, but the cashier told me she was closing, which is totally understandable. Maybe they had to go on their lunch break. I then tried to go to self-checkout, but that was also closed, then I ended up having to get into a longer line. It's unfortunate. I've been coming to this Walmart since childhood since it's pretty close to my area. Sad to see that the customer service is still below standards. What's the first place you think of when you think "fabric store"? Not Walmart, right? Well, it was 8:30 PM when my sewing machine needle shattered and exploded into pieces. Naturally, I screamed out a flood of expletives. I needed to get this sewing project done, I had used my last sewing machine needle in my stash, and all the fabric stores are closed at this time. Then, my dad walked into the room and went, "Hey, we could go to Walmart right now. There's a whole fabric and sewing section there." Me: "WHAT? There is?" Dad: "Yeah, it's just hidden in a corner, but it's there." Me: "Yes, please let's go!" I was honestly imagining a dinky, sad, and pathetic dust-coated corner of Walmart hidden in the shadows, with no more than 10 frayed rolls of cheap fabric that should have been on sale for $1.00 years ago. Instead, I was very surprised to see two giant rows of fabrics and sewing supplies, and a table where a staff member cut cloth for customers, like at any other fabric store. Of course, this being Walmart, this wouldn't be my go-to sewing supply store. But in a needle emergency, this worked in a pinch! Hooray! For non-sewing issues, I have come to this Walmart during middle and high school for back-to-school shopping trips, and over the years, this place has been pretty well-maintained, and quite clean as well. This location is usually pretty unorganized and bare, especially when it comes to the food department. Whenever I come here with a list of items (not just food), there is at least one or two items they don't have. The limited produce they have is often expired or close to it. For a superstore like Walmart, it should be a one stop shop. Unfortunately, that's not the case with this location. It's also a pain in the behind that you need to have an employee use a key to help you get body wash and deodorant out of a glass case! Good luck tracking down an employee to do that. The lines are always brutal, with half the registers closed. I come here ONLY if I'm desperate, but prefer the Hesperian location. read more

On this beautiful Sunday, woke up, got ready and headed out to Walmart for my amazing deal pick up. It was my first time using the Pick Up option at the kiosk. I scanned my order into the kiosk and patiently waited for my items. After 10 minutes I am wondering how this works, because obviously it's not as convenient as I had thought. A few minutes later a young girl approached and at this time there were 3 of us waiting on our orders. The young lady did not bother to ask who was first (I was) but decided to help the person that arrived after me. No biggie, as soon as she's done speaking I'll mention I was here 1st. As I mentioned I was the 1st to arrive, she said I will be right back after I get her order. She was apologetic and said she is in her department by herself, still does not justify common sense of not asking or checking who checked in and when. So another 15 minutes go by and she returns with the girls order. However there is a problem because it seems there are 4 other items missing. So now I'm waiting another 15 minutes and at this time my patience has run out. But because its obvious the young girl is doing the best she can with the resources she has been given. She again apologized for the wait and now went to retrieve my order and in 3 minutes she gave it to me. If she would have checked me in as per the order arrived, I would have been done without wasting 30 minutes of my time, especially since it only took her 3 minutes to retrieve my order. The person at fault here for the horrible service is the store manager, that person is responsible to ensure customer satisfaction and services are met. I will make sure Walmart gets my feedback! I could have driven to Napa and Back in the amount of time it took me. At least I could have enjoyed a mimosa. read more

I'm giving them a four-star only because of the good prices of the items that they have there. My complaint with them is that if you asked something to be sent to you, they might separate it into two different actions. They will deliver some of your requested items. Then, they will have you come to a store and pick up the remainder items you want. That store may be some distance away. It would be cheaper to include it all in one delivery. I had this problem just recently. I requested four items to be sent to me. The last two which were two dental floss items, very small ones, they had me come to their San Leandro store to pick it up separated. I've wasted my gas just to pick up two dental floss items that they could have included with the other two items that they sent me. When I tried to contact someone at the San Leandro store concerning this, no one picked up the call. read more

There are a variety of products for great deals and there's a McDonald's in here too! The restrooms are ok. They offer product pickup service here as well. You can find basically anything here from sports to food to drink to cosmetics to grooming to school to apparel to shoes to electronics to cleaning supplies to furniture...need I say more? Hehe. Negatives: across from Costco and situated in a large plaza with other stores - this means lousy congestion at almost all opening hours. read more

I do not recommend coming here unless you're willing to wait for no one to come help you when you push the button for help, since everything is locked up here. Or when someone is around that may be able to help they act like they can't understanding English or they will tell you they don't have a key. Also, the bathroom are FOUL! IF they actually are in working order, which most of the time the only 1 or 2 stalls working will be filthy. It's really disturbing & dumbfounding that Walmart makes billions of dollars almost daily & they won't put the money in to have working restrooms for their OWN EMPLOYEES let alone the Customers! One of the stalls literally had feces spraying out of the back of one the toilets and Walmart still let the bathroom stay open knowing the harm that could've happened if - let's say - someone wasn't aware & had an open cut or even got into someone's respiratory system. Can you imagine?! The customer service is terrible, the lines at checkout/money center are ridiculous and if you don't fit their stereotype of a "normal customer" (god knows what that looks like in Walmart) than they'll have their LP follow you around. Not to mention the Prison Guards that they have standing at their Entrance/Exit trying to intimidate people. The only nice thing I can say about this place is MADDY, KAREN & CAROL at the Customer Service Center are the nicest people working at this Walmart & the honestly need Raises or some type of acknowledgment & appreciation for the work that they do. I would like to give it 0 stars. Bad customer service ever. They didn't let me return an item I bought because I didn't have a book in the air pump. My receipt shows only a month, but the refund policy is 90 days. She likes to complain that she bought that for the summer, then used it and returned it. I only said, "I didn't like it," because it only has one push in the wall. I need an adapter can pump in the car too, but it does not have one. She is so mean and talks a lot. She can't make a refund to me, so I brought it to a different Walmart near by, and I have been refunded. I am so angry of this lady. read more
