I'm an out of towner. I ordered a toy needed as a gift. I picked up the product in drive up and the product package box was torn, banged up and appeared as if it sat on a shelf for months (Dusty package). When I ordered it clearly stated 3 items left. I can't help to think the store worker took the worst package off the shelf to sell me. I'm not happy with the price as well. The $17 item ended up costing me $35 in added fees. Buyer beware! It's a risk if you buy online from this Walmart. I'm not happy. I did not take the item back as we were pressed for time. I ended up going to another store to buy a nicer gift. We came in to this location since we are visiting family and needed a prescription transferred. Transferring from one pharmacy to another wasn't really a big issue, where the issue for us came into play was the cost. We live in Texas and our prescription in Texas costs us $48 for a 30 day supply. For some reason, Walmart evidently doesn't stay consistent with pricing for drugs across state lines, because this location was going to charge us $1200 for the same prescription! We talked with both pharmacy's, this one and ours back home and no one had any explanation for it other than it could be a different supplier. We asked just to get a 3 day supply so we could finish the visit and refill when we got back home, but they still wanted to charge us $1200 for just 3 pills. This is ridiculous. Seems Walmart pharmacy in New Mexico has fallen into the medical for profit trap, where the patient is less important. read more

Worst management I've EVER seen ANYPLACE !!! They have a ton of staffers shopping for call-in orders. They are ALWAYS blocking the aisles and leaving their carts parked in front of the shelves so in-store shoppers can't get at the food they are trying to buy. But management thinks it's ok that in-store shoppers are inconvenienced. They also refuse to open check out lines even during high peak times. Only part of their self-checkout are ever operating so there's always a long line to check out. Although it's rough on the shoppers the management is ok with it since they can keep their payroll low. OUR time is of no interest or consideration - just Walmarts almighty dollar. Today I had enough! I had done a big shopping for 5 families that I was donating to the local food bank ( complete with a dozen cans of dog food, two dozen cans of cat food, bags of cat litter, a $49 bag of dog kibble - specifically for the lady on 9th street who runs her own dog shelter). It was around $200 purchase to help the people who depend on SNAP - whom Trump has screwed over by cancelling all SNAP benefits. ( But at least they can admire trumps$300 million ballroom) When I went to check-out there were only THREE aisles with a Walmart clerk open to help with the checkout. BUT THEN one of the 3 check-out counters closed. The female manager with the curly blond wig jumped from behind her counter to tell me she was closing her counter. I guess it was coffee break time. That left only TWO STAFFED CHECKOUTS. There were half a dozen totally useless clerks standing around chatting and keeping an eye on the self check out stand customers. But NO ONE could open more check out counters. I HAD ENOUGH! I went up to the useless clerk standing up front and told her that she could now PUT ALL MY BASKET FULL OF STUFF FOR BACK ON THEIR PROPER SHELF, grabbed my purse and walked out without paying for a damn thing. I then drove up to Albertsons and picked out all the same stuff for the food bank - albeit at a slightly higher price - but they had all of their checkout counters open and staffed. I don't think this place deserved 2 stars. It is probably mostly for the wait. This super Walmart is giant with everything you need if you are on vacation... other then sleds and wax for white sands (they were out when we we were there). I think the low stars are for the massive wait at the registers. That is why there are massive lines for self check out. If you don't have many items for sure self check out. Really the worst Walmart ever. They charge you more for substitutions using the app which is exactly opposite of what the app and having the membership says won't happen. They run sometimes 2 hours late on a scheduled order. It's not hard to limit times for pick ups if your man power is down. Tonight I had the slowest cashier ever. She kept chatting to people and literally stopping. It took her half an hour to ring up 250$ worth of stuff. I couldn't believe it. It was so hot in there and I was sweating like a hog. Finally about 40 minutes of checking out and paying I go to the entrance I was parked in front of. A cart guy started yelling that side was closed. Legit my cars Right there. He has gate up and o asked him nicely if I could exit there and show him my receipt as. Had my grandson and a very heavy cart full of groceries. He YELLED AT ME. "ITS LOCKED". I'm literally looking at the door wide open and pointed to it. He yelled at me again. So I had to walk alllll the way to the other side and maneuver my 700lb cart through the parking lot clear to opposite side. He could see I was struggling because I was limping. Rude. Totally rude. Go to LOWES if you can. If you must go for certain things fine but avoid using grocery store. I'm so disgusted. Ross and Lowe's and the dollar store should have been my places to shop. I give this store two stars instead of one only because the employees are great. But they never have enough cashiers, so people line up at the self-checkout lanes with their carts full of the week's groceries. The aisle are difficult to navigate because the middles of them have been filled with products. The "Great Value" grocery products are terrible (I'm not a big fan of spoiled milk, or bottled water that reeks of plastic). Also, they're stocking fewer and fewer of the name brands in order to replace them with Great Value. Horrible produce section with old and wilted vegetables. If you order something for pickup, half the time you'll find they don't have it when you arrive (though this is probably a problem with the Walmart company's IT system in general and might not be specific to this particular store). read more

Yeah, I have to chime in on this one too. My gripe is that the place is so packed full of aggressive people clogging the isles its hard to get to the shelves, and when you manage (cue Mortal Combat music) to get to the shelf the product is not there. Cheddar Cheese? Forget it. Your favorite brand of wine? They might get it in a couple of weeks. Inventory control is nonexistent or hobbled by arcane contracts. If you consistently run out of Cheddar Cheese by noon every day for a year, some grocery managers might take note and say, "Wow, people like this. If we bump up the stock levels we can sell more of this product and make more money!" At Walmarts Alamogordo this logic does not prevail. The parking lot is really icky dirty, with more pigeons than you can shake a stick at. I think there is a secret rule that everyone who enters this parking lot drop LSD. Don't ever expect anyone to stop at the stop sign. If only TARGET would open a store in this town! Customer service is a game of roulette. They may be nice, grumpy, distracted, uncomfortably interested, board... I've seen it all, believe me. Still, expecting consistently excellent customer service from workers at Walmart is unreasonable in and of itself, just like I don't expect Baristas to fix my coffee at McDonalds. It is what it is... The one advantage they have is their prices are lower relative to the only other grocery store in town, Lowes. This is a review for Joe an who was working at this store on October 14, 2022 around 9:30 PM. Dead tired after a long day of travel, I wanted to enjoy some wine in the hotel but had no corkscrew. This walmart is really large, so I asked the first employee where the corkscrews were and he began with, "Umm...I think... somewhere...in the far back corner of the store." But thankfully Joe was close by, and he quickly pulled up the information on his phone and I followed him past two aisles and down a few feet. Thanks to Joe, I enjoyed a sorely needed glass of red and got some good sleep before hitting the white sands the next day. read more

The auto service oil change was not a pleasant experience ....no where to wait " due to Covid" then they finished my truck and there was no one at the counter to cash me out... after a very long time a lady came around the corner to answer a call in which she and the other person on the line shopped for the best deal on tires... never looking at me or acknowledging me in any way.... by the time she got off the phone she had 4 or 5 people waiting... she never apologized for the wait or anything... the Irony is that the reason I didn't have any place to sit was due to the people they get all their goods from and they got to stay open while many of the smaller places are now out of business... which is why I ended up having to go there in the first place... no more Wal mart for me in the future... read more

I went to Alamogordo new Mexico Walmart before work to buy lunch the sandwhich I bought was so dry it had to be returned it was uneatable even with mayo, I also got a soda that was Luke warm and this was after checking all the cold cases. The ladies bathroom has one working sink that trickles.cold water contrary to the signs that say employees must wash with warm water.NOT two employee s came in and used the toilets and both walked out with out washing hands because I was using the sink. Nasty for shame considerong this is pretty much the only store in town. Attitude adjustment please! I've been going to this Walmart now since they opened this location nearly 16 years ago, and the old one on the El Paso Highway. I know Walmart is no longer what Sam Walton was probably going for, which is quality service and low prices. Prices low yes, attitude is a no go. I have had my share of plenty of nightmare customer service experiences, including one where one of the cashiers got mad because the coffee pot we were buying accidentally ran into his monitor on the conveyor belt. He got so mad that he threw the coffee pot after scanning it. He was reported on the spot, plus he was vulgar. Now this was 2 years ago. I still run into a lot of unpleasant people. I know Walmart is not the greatest place to work at, especially this one, but leave the attitude out the door. Today I had a pretty bad experience with a worker in the Electronics department. Now I know I'm young, and should probably know everything about electronics, but I don't. I asked a very simple question once he got done with another customer. I simply asked where the Micro SD card adapters were because I couldn't find them, but I knew I've purchased them there before. His immediate response in a very nasty tone is "Micro SD card adapter for what?" I said for a micro sd card for my printer. He says "What do you need it for" once again in a rude tone. I said, and I was pretty flustered with his attitude, "So I can print pictures from my phone." He proceeds to be even more rude by going, *Scoffs* "The photo machines here have that crap on them" I'm thinking excuse me? He never showed me where those adapters were. read more

I'm pretty sure they get most of their submissions from this Wal Mart. *You've been advised* This Wal Mart is often crowded, parking is a nightmare, the front entrance where McDonalds is located smells like (really bad) sewage. But their selection is pretty decent, princes are reasonable, easy to navigate, and it's a hit or miss when it comes to customer service. Definitely a big Walmart. We stopped in to buy water. The floor is clean. The bathrooms were spotless. There were many clothing tables not recovered even though it was 8 am. I try not to frequent this store especially due to the lack of hospitality and help. I will share a few incidents and what happened and you can make up your own mind. Prior to today I have asked to find something and most associates now ask do you have the app? No I answer well it's on the app to find things in the store they respond. Ok so why have associates????? Anyway today I was in H34 and H 35 and I wanted jelly jars there was only one box of 8 Oz on the shelf I could reach. On the highest shelf was the bargain brand and I needed two cases. Well I walked over to electronics where two associates were talking to one another across the counter. I asked if they could get someone to h34 to get me some jars they were not happy I interrupted their talking needless to say I awaited ten minutes no one. I then called the store to get an associate to h35 after another 10 minutes no one. At this point I am needless to say highly irritated so I just purchase what I have on hand. I called your store three times being switched to a manager never got through. I never got listened to therefore here's your yelp Walmart I won't be frequenting your store much I don't now due to the service. I have to love this Walmart because without this Walmart we would not now have Albertsons in Alamogordo. I moved to this area twelve years ago. Prior to that, I NEVER shopped at Walmart. After moving here, I had no choice. Lowes just didn't have the items that I wanted, though I bought as much as I could there to avoid giving money to Sam's offspring. They were never consistent on what was in stock: find a pizza that you like, and it'll be gone two months later, never to be seen again. It may reappear six months later, you never know. There was no rhyme or reason to it, and this wasn't just on seasonal items. And let's talk about Krave Jerky. Fantastic stuff. But you won't find it where the beef jerky is in the snack section. It's only near the checkouts. I guess it's too hard to have it in both places, even though there are other brands of jerky in both. What really steams me is the absence of hand baskets. I went in yesterday for a few small items. No hand baskets. So I had one arm cradling three items, my hand holding a bag of veg, and my other hand holding another item. They used to have hand baskets, but you could never count on there they were: sometimes they'd be on the side with the McDonald's, sometimes on the side with the pharmacy. Now I think they're gone entirely. I would never expect them to have the so very convenient small grocery carts that Albertsons has, it would discourage people from filling them up and spending more money! Don't get me started on self-checkout. It's a mechanism for reducing staffing, nothing more. Customers do the work, the company doesn't have to have as many clerks, and shoplifting increases. Albertsons had self-checkout and got rid of them because of those reasons, also, it was poor customer service. Have you noticed that Walmart is trying to force you to use them because they never seem to have their express lanes open during peak hours anymore? BA (Before Albertsons), I probably spent 90% of my shopping dollars at Walmart. PA, or Post-Albertsons, Walmart gets 5% or less of my shopping dollars, and I am ever so much happier about that. I heard of a study that because of the poor wages and benefits of Walmart stores that their stores can suck A MILLION DOLLARS out of a local or state economy in social benefits for their employees. So even if I were to spend zero dollars at this store, they're still getting tax dollars from me. And we wonder why Alamogordo is in the shape it's in? I'll do my best to spend as little as possible here. Yes, I'll pay more at Albertsons, but I'll do so knowing that they pay their employees more and provide better benefits. read more

It's Walmart. You've been to one you've been to them all. Overall don't expect anything above a typical Walmart experience, people watching is the best part. Best prices on car oil, muscle milk, toiletry items. But, never, ever in the 2.5+yrs has this location ever been fully stocked and or not have all isles with product sitting on pallets waiting to be stocked. Parking lot expect to get a runaway cart hit your car, a cart to drift into your car as no one puts the carts in the proper location (lazy ass) and or people not paying attention and almost t-bone you or not stop if you have the right away. Walmart super center on New York in Alamogordo has gone down. The quality of food is not good. I have seen rotten food, out of date food still on shelves, it seems that alot of the items you were buying there they never have any more. The shelves are rarely stocked.mist of the time when we buy soda or beer they are flat/stale/skunked. I moved here 3 years ago and the service was great the shelves were stocked it was nice, now it has gone down in the last year . I've heard a lot of customers complain of the same things.
