Hands down - one of the dirtiest Walmart's I've been to in a while! So to be clear, I did not intend on writing any reviews tonight. The goal was to literally come and pick up a few things and leave. I figured since it was later in the day, there wouldn't be any crowds and I could just run in and run right back out. Tonight was NOT the case. First, I only came here for maybe 5 things; 3 of them they didn't have! Most (emphasis on MOST) of the shelves looked empty! There were all types of nats flying around the fruit- the cans of dog food (which was one of the items I came for) was banged up. There was only 2 boxes of feminine products that I needed - one box was smashed in so you had no choice but to buy the other. Some of the items in the isles were completely destroyed/messy yet it was still on the shelves. Even during checkout, there were two young ladies at the desk but the self service checkout department was a complete mess! Unfortunately, I did not take any pics because I didn't plan on writing a review BUT... if you can - avoid this store. You will walk out feeling like you need to jump in the shower. I've been to better and I've been to worse. This Walmart is quite average. There are lots of things I would never buy at a Walmart. Anything fresh, like produce or meats and especially not dairy. But there's plenty I will buy here that is way cheaper than anyone else. Canned goods. Dry goods. Just about anything in the personal care and cosmetics aisles. All of that is just fine. Most of the shelving was well stocked. A few holes in some grocery areas, but they did have a few of each item remaining. Floors were clean, lights were lit, there were no long lines at the registers. My main complaint was that there were no shopping carts on one side of the store. This is by far the worst Walmart in Charlotte. They are always short staffed and the staff that's available always seems to have an attitude. Last night I stopped at the Walmart to get a qt of motor oil. Much to my surprise the motor oil is now behind lock and key in a glass enclosure. This meant that I would have to walk aimlessly around the store in search of a staff member with an attitude. I elected instead to drive 2 miles away to the nearest AutoZone. As others have said it's a Walmart Supercenter so you should expect a Walmart on steroids. This Walmart is conveniently located off Independence Blvd, but no matter what time of day it is packed. I do love that they have everything, from home goods to groceries, being a Supercenter, but I am confused on the layout and find it very hard to find assistance with trying to find something. I like to try to use the check yourself out registers but there always seems to be an issue with the machines and takes more time than just checking out with a cashier. Overall it's Walmart and allows me to grab some staple items for a lot cheaper than other places. Be prepared, that's all I will say! read more

What is going on with the Walmart on Independence Blvd. I'm unfortunately home bound right now and order my groceries from that store, or used to! Every time I order items there either unavailable or I get produce that are half of them half rotten or unusable. The people at the location either don't care or something is wrong with their eye sight, sending food that not anywhere near fresh. It apparently obvious to me they need to improve on what they send out for delivery. I won't be wasting money shopping at this store. Probably the most ghetto Walmart in history. Literally, I'm not joking. Once I walked into the building, I saw multiple fights. One of them was between two people fighting over the last box of strawberries in the produce section. I also saw a physical fight between two people whole on dragging each other by the hair and cursing. The customers nearby had to try and break it up but, none of the workers even bothered because they probably see it happen on a daily. I also noticed there were only two lanes open but all 18 other lanes were closed. It was totally inconvenient. Probably the worst thing by far was the cleanliness of the place. This Walmart has almost nothing. I mean, I go there to get my son toys FIVE DAYS IN A ROW and they still don't have most Pokemon, Beyblade, or just toys in general. Once had to go there for clothing because every other store was packed for no reason. I went to the boy's clothing section and almost everything was already gone. Also, it's not like there were people there, because there were only 2 OTHER PEOPLE IN THE SHOP WITH ME. Another thing to mention is that they're ALWAYS SHORT-STAFFED and UNAVAILABLE TO DO BASIC REQUIREMENTS. By far the most nastiest and ghettosest Walmart i have ever been to, the cashier was plain nasty and it's not that i aspect much from Walmart ik how low quality they are but i at least expect the minimum level and respect and for the people that are getting paid to do there job. Oh! New Walmart! I came here to pick up a few items, and wow was it hard to get in and out of this place. It's right next to Independence which makes it kind of scary getting out and turning right. This Walmart is brand new and it's not bad, but I've seen better especially the way the store was built and entering and exiting the store. Since they closed the Eastway location (which is really good because that store was super old) this is the substitute location for everyone. I didn't enjoy the stone floors when you first walk in, I saw it was a problem because it was raining when I walked in and it was slippery. They do need to put in some carpets in there. This layout of Walmart is like the one in University, so if you know that store than you will be a pro in finding things at this one. read more

I thought I was gonna be the only one giving them a crap score but I see it's not just me that hates this place. Guess it's a club. I only go here for 2, sometimes 3 things...toilet paper, cat litter, and cat flea meds ( a couple times a year). I try to avoid coming here so much that if I don't need both items I try to figure out a way to stretch what I have at home until I do. It's such a hassle. First off you have to park practically a mile a way everytime ( and I DO NOT go on weekends) then the things I need are at the further point from the door in the store. The last handful of times I have gone they haven't restocked anything so they have nothing I need except tp. Pointless trip and then forget trying to talk to an employee "does anyone work here?!" comes to mind. Additionally the other reviews have pretty much nailed it, the added element of fear from the excessive amount of cops, how it takes 20 minutes to buy 2 things at 10 pm on a Tuesday, and avoid the produce. In fact just avoid this place completely if you can. 2 stars for convenience and cleanliness but I'm just glad I found a different litter brand ( forced to after coming here three times in a row and them not having it on the shelves) I prefer at Pet Smart so I never have to step foot in here again. read more

This Walmart annoys me and creeps me out at the same time! It's rumored that a lady died from choking on a grape at this location... that's why I'm creeped out, how did no one notice and save her, if that's the case but I digress... this Walmart annoys me because of how it's set up, I feel like I'm in IKEA, and I get lost EVERYTIME I go in IKEA!!!! Read your money "for all debts public and private" however because I choose to use cash that does not have a fee to use like credit cards do I am punished to wait in long slow line. Zero stars for customer service. I spent much un-needed time in this store because the employees are unwilling to assist with helping me find what I needed. (I asked three people who were stocking shelves, you think they'd be able to help) Then after being charged twice for an item, I went to customer service and wasn't even acknowledged. The THREE employees that were there talked amongst themselves about being denied for food stamps & how to reapply. Not only did they not speak to me, they didn't even make eye contact and handed me cash back without asking if I wanted it back on my card. #boycottwalmart. I had a gift card with 202.00. I checked the balance a few days ago because I was getting ready to order. Yesterday I went to use the card and its at 0. I called walmart.com and spent an hour on the phone verifying all information. They informed me someone in TX ( I live in NC) used the card. They will not give me any further information. They had me send all the verification it was my card . They said they would investigate and it would take 3-5 days. 20 minutes later I get an email they decided not to refund me or help me retrieve the money. They know who stole the number from their website and wont stand by the customers. Never again walmart. You don't care about your customers and their concerns. They actually told me to contact the police, but won't give me any information. They know it was stolen. I think it was a walmart employee since it was stolen from the Walmart.com site. Walmart FAIL! I despise this store....but it was the only place open after i got off work. I was really in need of a space heater so my exposed pipes at the house wouldnt freeze. I go in with mission to ONLY get the space heater. Of course, you always end up getting $100 worth of other stuff you pass and realize you need too. So my cart is half full...and i head off to find the heater. I asked a store employee who was really nice and actually walked across the store to show me where they would be located. Of course, THEY WERE COMPLETELY OUT...in the DEAD OF WINTER. Seems to me like they would keep something like that stocked up. As i was headed up to the front to check out...i stepped away from my buggy and left it unattended while i checked something out the next aisle over. While i was away...A BUGGY THEIF totally took all my merchandise out of the cart, left it on the floor and took the buggy with them! WHO DOES THAT? I mean damn! I was actually kinda thankful, when i saw that they had 3 checkout lines of the 30 checkouts open....the lines were backed up like a clogged sewer pipe. I was over it....so i began to walk out. When i got to the exit with my phone, wallet and keys in hand....the "greeter" who looked like she was off an episode of "Faces with Meth" body checked me up and down and looked at me like i was walking out with concealed inventory. I like to think of this place like going to the cooler (temperature wise) part of HELL. Maybe because I am guy, or because I hate shopping or because I despise long lines, but whenever I think of any Walmart, I think of one place - HELL. Well if there was a nicer part of Hell, that say had less demons, and was less scorchingly hottt, this Walmart would be that equivalent. I say that because, as always the prices are simply cheaper than everywhere else and its actually not impossible to get to this Walmart due to the easy in, easy out access (thats what she said - LOL). Of course parking sucks, and of course the produce is dreadful, and you already know the lines are stupid-long all weekend EVERY weekend. 5 stars for a walmart, wha the wha?! I know but seriously everything was spot on perfect. I am really more of a Target type but I was hunting cheap wine glasses which Target doesn't have. Access was easy right off Independence (must be a new thing cause I read all the reviews about access issues). Parking lot was clean and not littered with carts. Store was also super clean and staff was uber nice. Cashier was really helpful in trying to get my conditioner to ring up, should have got her name. Produce was super fresh and loads of it. With the never ending construction on independence blvd it is difficult to get here sometimes. Huge store - has good grocery section, nice floral selection and lots and lots of the other stuff that you find at Walmart. Employees are useful, helpful and friendly. I find Wal-Mart's to be generally annoying. In this there's stuff everywhere, always out of place. Some sections that seem so large in other stores always seem smaller in this one. Getting out of the parking lot is a hassle. Outside of that, it's just like any other. read more

I'm not a regular Walmart shopper, but on occasion I know they have what I need and so to Walmart I go. For this location, yes, you turn right off independence into the parking lot (going east). I found a close parking spot in no time, entered and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness (how long will this last? only time will tell), knew the general section my item was in and found the section immediately, a few aisles later found my items, walked to express check out, had a nice chat with the woman behind me in line, paid, and out in under 10 minutes. For me, that's success at a Walmart. Had the stars aligned for me that day? Maybe. But when I only shop at Walmart a few times a year, I'll take it. All the aisles I passed had fully stocky shelves, employees actually had smiles on their faces, this is a nice step up from the one I used to visit on Wilkinson. If you need to go back west on Independence, there is a parking lot exit on Pierson that loops you back around (with plenty of signs to direct you). read more

I wanted to buy some toiletry items that had a security lock on them. I asked three different employees to please unlock and they all did not have the key and called on the intercom for the employee with the key to that area to unlock. I waited 20 mins and talked to three employees to get one item! I finally went to customer service and they called the intercom again and no one had the key to the cosmetic area! Ridiculous!!! I just hate this store. That is it. Parking is a beast. The store always looks like a Viking ship has invaded, pillaged and murdered most of their selection. There are always misbehaved children running around the store, not paying attention to other shoppers. The lines are always long. Never enough employees. The employees that are there always look unhappy and just sour to be there. The last 3 times we went to the store (before never going again) the fire alarms were pulled and they closed the store. There are always cops around. They search your cart when you are about to leave - which really ticks me off because we only go to walmart once a week and we usually spend upwards of $200 dollars. Please go treat someone else like a thief, not the person that just shelled out a whole boat load of money in your store. Way to treat the customers that actually help sustain your crappy business. I absolutely HATE that no one in this store speaks any type of english. I always feel like I am shopping on a strange planet where no one understands me or makes an effort to understand me. The amts of times that I get held up in a line with someone with an EBT card that doesnt speak english just stresses me out. Customer service may as well have pulled an Elvis and left the building because this location is hell on earth. We have not been to this store in a few months... we kind of dropped off the Walmart boat but if we do go, we go to the one in Matthews near Sardis. At least its not dangerous.
