I also picked up the centerpiece today and it's on my tablecloth and a candle I purchased recently from Walmart. I just love Walmart; I like to call it "Wally World" because it's always an adventure. (Wally World ya know where Clark Griswold did everything in his power to get his family to Wally World for a family vacation for some happiness:) (we watch that every night before our vacation in the summer:) ). In my world, a local Walmart invisibly exists until I have some minor reason to go. Target comes to mind more readily. I came to this Walmart because it has a nice selection of Iowa Hawkeye branded merchandise and at prices that are a little more reasonable than the official University of Iowa stories. It's all licensed at Walmart and the selection is more limited. But if you need something relatively straightforward, this is your place. I picked up an SUI item and while I was there, the stationary and minor hardware sections beckoned me further into the store. I was pleased that I didn't take too much time here, and I was back on the road relatively quickly. read more

Called the store to talk to the Automotive Department and the phone just rang for about 30 times before I hang up and tried again. I did this for about 45 minutes. Then after it rang about 20 times it went to music. No one ever answered the phone. I was on hold with music for 30 min and was in the "Service " line when I was able to have the representative get a manager for me. Still on hold, no answer. I showed the manager the phone and explained the situation and they showed me their phone at the "service" desk and sure enough my name was on the phone and on hold. I received the "we're too busy" excuse and the obligatory "very sorry" excuse. So, I asked that they train her staff and bring this up in the next staff meeting. Don't think that'll happen. However, the Automotive Department was helpful and was able to get my flat tire fixed. read more

A pretty above-average Walmart, all things considered! (And of the two in Iowa City/Coralville-- this is my preferred location.) Just recently I did an online order for pickup. Absolutely no issues. It's open daily (6-11PM). It has a plethora of parking and is conveniently located just off Hwy-965 and I-80/I-380. It's near a handful of other stores and restaurants. It boasts a : - Bakery - Deli - Garden Center - GROCERIES - Auto Care Center - Liquor Store - Vision Center - Photo Center - FedEx Office - Redbox - Pharmacy (Offering flu shots, immunizations, etc) - Subway Typically the staff is professional and efficient. Additionally, its floor plan makes sense. (Ya know how some supercenters are like a maze and make absolutely no sense? This one is easy to navigate.) I adore coming to this location for after-holiday sales (specifically Halloween and Christmas). Can't beat their costume or wrapping paper selection! Overall, sometimes you need to pop in Wal-Mart. This location is pretty solid! read more

A few months ago I purchased some DVDs online at walmart.com. A non-walmart supplier was involved and sent the wrong items, but Walmart made it all up to me. I give walmart.com a five-star rating on their customer service. They were so polite and helpful over the phone and credited me immediately. Too big of a store for me!! I had never been here before and found it on Maps. I was so lost in finding what I needed. There were boxes everywhere, workers everywhere...So much of EVERYTHING!! and that doesn't even include the food section I didn't walk through! I asked several workers for assistance and they were either conversing with coworkers and not paying attention, they where wearing earbuds and couldn't hear, the couple workers that responded knew nothing about this store and item locations. I actually called a friend that is an avid shopper and She led me to what i was looking for. I was in so much pain from aimlessly walking in heels. I placed an order through the Walmart App. I recieved a confirmation of my order on Checkout. They gave the order (a bit under 100.00) to Door dash for Delivery. The DoorDash in Driver had troubles finding my Address (I live in a Trailer Court), so instead of checking in at the Office (which every Trailer Court, and most every Apartment Building I have ever known in 6 decades has a Directory showing Locations), they returned it to the Store. The WalMart Supercenter in Coralville, Iowa, has not answered their phone for 2 days. I did not receive my order. Walmart Corporate was no help, and despite my buying literally thousands of dollars in Merchandise from WalMart in the Past, I will no longer be dealing with them. In the last week, I've placed two curbside orders. BOTH had issues. Relevant to this story for the first order, I wanted qty 14 of the Chocolate/Vanilla ice cream cups and qty 6 of 30 pack disposable plates. For some reason the app limited me to 12 and later notified me that 1 of the plates was not available. No problem, still plenty of time before event to obtain what was missing. I had also marked items as "No Substitutions", because. Arrived at curbside for pickup. As I was verifying the order, two of the bags had NOTHING to do with my order AND I was missing HALF of the ice cream cups. (1 of the packages was only vanilla, labeled as such and the other 5, while labeled chocolate/vanilla, contained ONLY vanilla cups.) Nice guy working curbside got it all squared away for me. I'm SO glad I verified order before leaving! Second order. Placed order in app for curbside for cat and dog food. Also marked for "No Substitutions". Part way through the morning, get notification in app that cat food not available and was offered free home delivery. I'm thinking, cool and don't give it much more thought, figuring it would come tomorrow or whatever. Later, I get notifications that dog food is ready for pickup and then that cat food it out for delivery, then delivered. The picture in the app shows a cart, in the store, with packages that I don't recognize at all. But everything thing else in the app indicates delivered to HOME. After work, I go to Walmart curbside to pick up my dog food. Pickup goes without a problem. So, I drive home. I get home and there is NOTHING at my home from Walmart. I drive BACK to Walmart. Go to the Customer Service counter and explained my confusion about "where's my stuff?" Nice guy behind counter finds my stuff and I head back home. I have never had this much trouble trying to order from an app. And I've been doing this quite a bit, even before the pandemic. While the employees I personally interacted with were helpful and corrected the problem, the ones causing the problems need to be addressed. Especially if the app says you're delivering to my home, then deliver to my home. And as far as IN Store shopping goes, 20+ registers and maybe 3 open, besides self checkout. NEVER more than 3 registers with an actual human being to check out. read more

This coralville walmart is horrible overall. I can't think of a single time that I was greeted or even got a hi or a smile during the time that I was shopping. Even more, when I have asked questions to employees around the store it's like they're irritated you're asking them. With all the complaints in reviews about the lack of an appropriate number of registers being open to get customers checked in an out in a timely and efficient manner, why has NOTHING changed with that? Lines down the clothing isle because it's so backed up. Why aren't employees from other departments being paged to come help? That is a NECESSITY. Have others help bring carts in too ! It is unacceptable to not have a single cart in the store AND. Customer service? It may be open but you'll wait forever. Why are people deciding to go on their break during the time that the line is so long at customer service? Not to mention that they have conversations with each other when they should be paying attention to the customer. And where the heck is a manager? I've never been asked if I'm finding everything okay! Gosh, even the phones don't get answered. I don't dare to even use those bathrooms. If this gets fixed I'll have no problem pressing the 5 star rating on the self check out screen, until then I will continue to give a 1 star rating. ***Is it that upper management and corporate staff simply don't take the reviews seriously (seeing that this has been going on for years and complaints have been made about THE SAME THINGS!!!) and adjust properly? We stopped yesterday (the 20th) after an appointment and picked up a few items. We got a 5lb bag of potatoes. The next day I opened them to make supper and the smell slapped me in the face. They were way past their shelf life. After looking, their expiration date was the 14th and should have been removed from the shelf a week ago. I tried calling to inform them. I'm not a big Walmart fan, but as others have pointed out since there is no super Target in IC they pretty much have the market for this type of store cornered. This location has more than the one in IC and is ok, given the type of store it is. Positives: Very low prices and one stop shopping. I tend to end up here when I need to make a big grocery shopping trip and I need to stock up household items. Definitely not Target quality, but you can find most things you need if you're not too picky. Negatives: This store is usually hectic and under-staffed. Check out lines are long on the weekend and it's clear they are trying to cut back on cashiers and force people into self checkout. This creates unnecessary chaos for customers and staff members (who always seem overwhelmed). In addition, quality control on grocery items isn't always great. For example, I got some pork chops today and when I went to cook them this evening I discovered they were slimy so I had to throw them away. Some household items are also cheaply made. For example, I got a couple of laundry baskets that seemed like a good deal, but they are so cheap that when we fill them with clothes they bend. Bottom line: It's Walmart. If you don't go in with high expectations, you can usually get what you need and save some money. However, you do get what you pay for--service and quality aren't always the best. Unfortunately there just isn't a competitive alternative in IC/Coralville. read more

Decent produce, less expensive, but as move as Hyvee. Way cheaper for everyday items though. Good beer section and decent wine selection. I've live all around the country and this Walmart is comparable to the worst in the country I've been to. Hands down the worse in the state I've been to. Poor customer service, systems are always down, no one ever answers phone calls, there is always boxes, carts and garbage laying around, stocking is limited compared to other local stores. My recommendation would be to drive to Iowa City and go to theirs it is night and day. One would assume this would be busy due to location and the nice town it is in but that can't be further from the truth. Just shut this own down or do a complete management overhaul. Honestly...the worst Walmart I've ever had the experience of shopping. Outside the aisles full of Chinese goods I am CONSTANTLY running into items being out of stock. I don't rely on getting items at Walmart. I check to see if its in but always have a back up. An issue I seldomly run into at Hy-Vee. Walmart does have pretty reasonable prices. The quality of most items is questionable. The service is spotty. I've run into friendly people and I've run into people that you get the strong feeling from that you are obviously inconveniencing them. They NEVER have enough people at checkout. I always tell my son the reason I avoid Walmart is because i go in and take 2 minutes to grab an item and 30 minutes in line to get out. Finally, I do wish they'd expand their rows a bit. It isn't uncommon for VERY large people or people in scooters to be in Walmart. Then there is this tendency from the natural Walmart shopper to sit in the middle of an aisle and ignore everyone else around them. Yes, wider aisles won't help with the last but with the first two it sure would. read more

I stopped here for a oil change usually I can just drop my car off and give them my keys but I had to spend 20 minutes showing him where my car was, stand in the freezing cold for him to check the oil and drive my car up to the door. The lady today near the cosmetic area was rude & just creepy. Bad attitude & continued to watch me. WORST WALMART EVER! I have been shopping at Walmart for 40 years and moved to the area almost a year ago. I was excited to be so close to a Walmart. This store often has empty shelves or more correctly over stock other things to make up for the items they're out of. Many of the Walmart "staples" can't be found here. There is 1 pleasant cashier but the rest couldn't get hired anywhere else! That's probably why they rarely have more than 2 cashiers working. I love when they have more supervisors watching the lines than the number of lines open! And where do the customers at this store come from? You don't encounter them anywhere else in Coralville. This has got to be the worst store to shop at. First of all, the store is poorly stocked. Things are shoved on the top shelves that are unreachable by a person of a normal height. In addition, the items are not rotated meaning things that are expired are in back of items in the front. I have bought cheese and discovered after a couple of days that the expiration date was two weeks before I purchased it. The cosmetics area has been cordoned off with a clerk sitting at the open end; after putting those items in your cart the clerk stops you and puts those items in a locked box until you get to the checkout and then not every cashier has a key to unlock the box, so you are stuck waiting for someone to come and unlock it. There are not enough check stands open for the amount of customers. Then after finally getting checked out by the one line open, waiting to have your cosmetics unlocked by the one person in the store with a key and making your way out of the store, you are stopped by another worker wanting to see your receipt and check your bags, I assume to make sure you are not stealing anything. These bags are full of groceries! Milk, bread, etc. normal groceries, not expensive high theft items. When I complained to the manager and again online NOTHING was done! Walmart has shown that they don't care about their customers enough to keep them as customers! NEVER SHOPPING AT A WALMART AGAIN! read more

Ordered an item online. Checked in using the app. Girl at the store said I had to check in at the kiosk. I did. Waited at least 20 minutes in the pick up area. No one EVER said a word to me & no one ever came with my item. Finally had to walk over to CS, wait in line there to ask her to get someone to come to pick up. She paged. Waited almost 10 more minutes. Finally girl comes up & asks if I need help. Gets my package. Says she came by a minute ago & no one was there except a guy. Said she asked him if that was his name on the screen & he said no. BS. My husband was waiting there while I went to CS & he said no one at all ever came into the pick up area.
