We frequent this Walmart when we are at our other home. It's the best one in the area. There isn't any food taxes on groceries in Texas like there is in Oklahoma, so it's cheaper to shop here than at the Walmart just across the border in Ardmore, so we shop here for some groceries. This review is based 100% on the Tire Store at this location. We have a tire blowout while out if town and had to use our mini spare tire to get from Durant Ok to Thackerville while on Vacation. It happened on a Saturday night, and we thought that all Tire stores would be closed on Sunday making us have to stay an extra day. Sunday, I started looking for Tire stores and was surprised that Walmart has a location about 15 miles away and they were open on Sunday. They were the only place in town or anywhere close that could replace this tire. We arrived at about 3:30 on 4/23/2023 and the manager came and greeted us and after inspecting the tire informed us that the side walls were shot, and the tire would have to be replaced. We had just put 4 new tires on this car less than a month ago, but the damage was obvious. The man gave us an estimate and a couple of options that were reasonable IMO. He checked stock and had a tire for us. He said he was a man down and it may take about an hour and a half for them to get it done. I am not a fan of Walmart and hate to shop our wait for work to be completed. While my wife can spend days and much money in any Walmart in the Country. I just wanted to get it done and get back to our hotel. Well to my surprise in less than 30 minutes they were done with our car. I went here to get my battery change and they do open at 7am. I was serviced right away as I needed a new battery as mine ran out. The service was excellent and friendly as they changed my battery within 10 minutes. When I got my drink, and came back I forgot to give them my keys opps. I would come back here again. read more

Called the Pharmacy to check on medication for my mother who is on a fixed income. Mary answered the phone in the pharmacy and was extremely rude and unprofessional. I asked her to see if my mother had a medication ready, she asked for the name and quickly said no. I said she should have Symbicort. Mary said that it is $400+ and your family said it was too expensive and to put it back. I explained that my mother had insurance and asked if she could run the insurance again. She sighed heavily in my ear and said "Y'all" keep calling up her saying "put it back" and "can you check again." I said my wife is a physician (and I was going to say that she looked up the medication and it should be covered) but Mary said "good for her." I said can I speak to your boss, please? She said "No you can not" and hung up the phone. I called back to speak to a store manager and no one was available. I was able to speak with Chelsea (pharmacist) and she was extremely professional and helpful. She apologized for her actions of Mary and proceeded to help me with the situation. She ran the insurance again and advised me that the medication was actually $56.02 with my mom's insurance. I was very grateful. To Mary: You should really go find a different job if you can. Maybe one that does not require you to talk to or interact with people. You are extremely unprofessional and not suited to be working in healthcare. read more

With all the chaos during North Texas winter weather, I took a chance calling Gainesville Walmart. I live an hour away. Young Lady "Jesse" i believe was her name, answered the phone That was a "+" Then checked on items I was needing. Had 1 for 1. That was a "++" she was kind,professional and sounded like she knew what she was doing. She could had easily done me like Wichita Walmart did- tell me didn't have time for that.... Us older customers can truly appreciate it when a younger generation is kind, considerate & attentive. Jesse was all of these.... I stopped here to buy a few things that I can't get in my small home town. I was early - 6:30 am. The parking lot was completely overrun with blackbirds and numerous of them were in the store, flying and walking around. I know that would be hard to control, but just a comment... I did my shopping, then went to check out. There are approximately 20 checkout stands and there was not a single checker. I guess I was supposed to use the mystical Scan and Go device??? I did not know how to check out and pay since there is little instruction with the hand held scanner. I've used self checkout before and am fairly comfortable with that (although I don't like it), but this thing made no sense and there was no one to tell me what to do. I finally threw up my hands in disgust, left my basket of goods in the checkout area, and left the store without making a purchase. Customer service? Nonexistent! Probably the worst Walmart I have been to. But one of the only ones that the bus route takes me to so I continue to go. Staff looks depressed and slightly angry. They are normally out of stock on most of the items. Limited assortment of fruits and veggies. And lines for miles.... But luckily there are a few stores across the way (Ulta, Bath and Bodyworks, Chipotle, etc) that make the trip somewhat worth it. read more

This is the best Walmart within 50 miles for sure as far the merchandise mix, cleanliness, and stocking. You will wait in line at checkout though . Can't have everything I guess. I absolutely despise Walmart. I only give them my business when I have to because my small town does not have many other options. Walmart is open 24 hours, which means you can give them your business any hour of the day, right? I work night shift at my job and Walmart is on my way home so if I need to grab something really quick I'll stop by very early in the morning. Today I stopped to purchase 2 copies of the local Sunday paper. Of course after midnight they only have self check out open so you are forced to do all of the work. But I only had 2 papers so no big deal right? First of all the self check out rarely works 100%. Neither paper would scan and the manual option for typing the barcode wouldn't work either. I clicked the button requesting help. There is no employee to be found anywhere. I waited a few minutes in the hopes someone would arrive. Finally someone walked by at a distance asking if I needed help. I told her no and I had been waiting awhile. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. At this point I should have left. She came back and asked what I needed, not appearing to care. She scanned in the papers and then an error appeared as she turned away. I told her it still needed her help and she walked off. So here I am again waiting several minutes with nobody around at all. I decided to call the store for giggles to see if anyone would answer. Surprisingly they did and I asked what I needed to do to get an employee to to their job. Finally a a different employee walked up and was even more irritated than the first one and basically asked what the problem was. I told her I had been waiting for at least 10 minutes and I had to call to ask for help. This is extremely poor customer service. If you are going to be open 24 hours a day, then make sure your employees are actually working! I understand it was almost 5am, but you are open all hours of the day for a reason. Regardless of when I shop at this store, I always have a poor experience. I said it once already but I despise Walmart. The employees always clearly hate their jobs and don't care. Occasionally you'll get a good one but it's rare. Avoid this store at all costs. read more

I know they won't even care about this review, but this Walmart is by far the most horrible Walmart. Simply because they profile horribly. Since the scan and go they have increased the door checkers...however...I watch them let people walk out without checking their receipt. On the other hand I always get stopped. In previous times I asked do they check everyone? They're reply was yes. That's a lie I've stood by and watched. Then the next time they said, "Oh if you have alcohol you get checked that's why..." That is also a lie. I've been stopped and watched people with alcohol get waved through! The last time which is my final straw this happened. She was already reaching for my receipt when I saw her wave and not check this other couples receipt. I have had it at this point I told her, "No. I'm not showing you my receipt. Especially when I get checked every time and I just saw you wave people through!" Her response to me was "well they only had a couple of items!" Wait a minute Walmart is that how you train your people? If you have a couple of things no big deal. Fair service is fair service. Policy is policy. Be efficient. So I told her well how do you know they are not stolen...? I am so done. If I didn't need specific items others didn't offer then I would not come here. I have huge gauges and tattoos which In some cases here in Gainesville you run into that one person who judges and profiles you. This Walmart is full of those people. I would spend 3x as much to go to Tom Thumb where I don't get profiled then to come to this Walmart.
