Not the worst I've ever been to, but jeez Louise! The bathroom at the front of the store, on more than one occasion, had feces smeared on the walls. Feces!!! This has to be hands down the absolute worst Wal-Mart in not only in the State of Maryland but probably the entire country. I have traveled and lived all over and always been a fan of Wal-Mart...but this store is plain dirty. It is small and neglected, The staff and managers are rude and the customers are just scary. Go to any other Wal-Mart but avoid this one no matter what and at all costs. Seriously I have been to some "ghetto" Wal-Marts in very economically and socially depressed areas and none of them have even come close to how bad this store is. Why are there so many upset and stressed people that seem to work at Walmart? Today I encountered the fact if you need to return something, it appears that they treat everyone as a thief. This morning I had the "pleasure" of dealing with two ladies who went out of their way to be incredibly RUDE that worked in customer service/returns. The one seemed to even take great pleasure in letting me know that Walmart only has a 15 day return policy for the lousy electronics they sell. Whatever, why are you so mean and nasty?! I already don't like Wal-mart. Everytime I go in there I seem to get involved in some kind of altercation. BLESS THE NAME OF GOD! The people in here act like they have nowhere to go until you get outside in the parking lot, then everyone is in a rush.They stop in the middle of the aisle, making it nearly impossible to get by. And when they are moving they are moving slower than slow. Jesus, I felt like I was stuck in traffic on the BW Parkway. The near altercation on this Wally World trip occurred right when we were leaving. There were several groups of people walking by the door making it difficult for me to clear the doorway. So I waited for the people to move so I wouldn't cut them off or run them over with my cart. A family behind me obviously missed the class on courtesy and shouted: "Move out of the way!". Had I not been with my mother I probably would've read them for filth but instead I gave them the meanest side eye I could muster and stood there for an additional 15 seconds. That'll teach em. They did have good prices on what I went in there for so I was pleased about that. read more

I haven't been to Walmart in years because when I walk in I immediately get a headache. But daughter-in-law had a return so agreed to meet her at MileStone to pick up granddaughter. We got there early so went in to use the restroom and get a cup of coffee from McDonald's. Right after Christmas, though the parking lot was crazy, there were lots of cashiers and lines were short. The customer service desk was not too bad. They had what seemed like a nice grocery section, an eyeglass store, lots of gift cards, souvenir section, and that doesn't even include the clothes, appliances, etc. I would not go out of my way to shop there but a bit more interesting than what I might have thought. read more

I'm a Target girl, so I typically don't shop at Walmart. However, I was with a friend, she was driving, and she very much wanted to stop here. No problem, I'll pick up some cheap paper towels. My friend quickly saw why I try to avoid this place. I've been to other Walmarts, which are cleaner, less crowded, and don't have long lines at the check-out. I do love Wal-Mart but the employees make it difficult to want to shop there. I stopped in this afternoon to pick up a few things and as I walked to the check out lines the lady who assigns people the cashiers to a register, I'm assuming this would be a head cashier position was talking with other employees. A second employee walks up to them holding a pair of pj pants and says this is for my man, the head cashier responses "get a bigger size because it has a drawstring so he can tie the pants, doesn't he like to let his junk hang loose." If I had my children with me I would have said something to a manager. Some conversation need to take place in a private setting, this was one of those conversations. All three employees were laughing at the comment that was made. This is why other stores are better, seems like some training is needed. Very disappointed in what I heard. read more

Every time I get ready to go to this Walmart, I feel like dead man walking. Yes, that's how bad I hate this place. It is overcrowded, the lines are insane, and you can't get through the aisles. Just imagine overcoming all of that just to find out your product is out of stock!! Yes folks, this has happened to me on many occassions. I've emailed Walmart to complain to no avail. No. Just...no. This store probably the worst Walmart I've ever shopped at. I gladly drive to Frederick to go to Walmart if I can't get what I need at Target (or Target is closed). Lets start with the customers. The people that shop at this Walmart amaze me. Some people are decent, they understand that there are a lot of people in a small space and do their best to get out of the way. Most people don't care at all. They'll abandon their cart to go 5 aisles over to get something, then get snippy when you move their cart to get by. They pay absolutely no attention to the express lanes limit, they're just plain rude. Now the employees. The employees are some of the most miserable people I've ever encountered at a store. I get it, your job sucks. At least try to seem like you don't completely hate being there. Having been a cashier before I *always* try to be friendly with employees at a store. When you go to this Walmart and say hi to someone they just stare at you or completely avoid eye contact. If you're in the store and need help finding something it's hit or miss. I've seen a few helpful employees but most of them just kind of point you in a direction and mumble something. And of course, the lines. It is Walmart, after all. They have 500 registers and use 4 of them while the lines are back through the aisles. They really don't care. And the registers in electronics? HA! Good luck! They'll have one person to run electronics, meaning they have to help people get items from locked areas AND run the register. In short, avoid this Walmart. If you have to go to a Big Box store, go to Target. You'll leave with your sanity. read more

The store itself is nice enough, I suppose, but the checkout experience kills this store. I have never seen an occasion in this store where the lines weren't well out towards the aisles. They have more than twenty checkout lines, but I've never seen more than five or six open at any given time. Taking out the self checkout registers in the last remodel was definitely not a good idea. Additionally, the outlying registers such as in electronics and sporting goods are almost never staffed, which compounds the problem because it adds to the mess up front (vs. taking pressure off of the front end). That checkout experience has a ripple effect on other things, as the checkout lines that clearly have no place to go block up a main aisle, which makes movement through the store difficult, especially in the food department, where the aisles open into the main aisle. This store is currently being converted to a Supercenter format. If they put self checkout registers back in during that remodel, the experience will improve dramatically, as it will add additional registers that are always open. In the meantime, I find the Walmart in Laurel to be a much better experience if I absolutely have to go to a Walmart (though one can find similar selection and far better service at nearby Target and Giant). read more

This place is a hot mess! Pros: extended hours, cheap prices and a wide selection Cons: everything else, literally! The floors are sticky, the lights are dim, customer service is poor, the parking lot is beyond crowded and they have a McDonalds. I can barely stand shopping here, the last thing I want to do it think about food. I can only imagine this is the worst McDonald ever. On the upside they're remodeling and becoming a super Walmart. I was excited when plans were announced for a remodel of this store. It was billed as a state of the art modern Supercenter. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!! Store literally feels like your shopping in a third world country.......... dirty floors, employees that speak bad english, NO DELI !!!!! Can you imagine opening a "SUPER WALMART" with NO DELI ???? Oh I forgot .......according to the store manager, Walmart was prevented from INSTALLING A FRESH DELI because of the peoples republic of Montgomery County for some ridiculous reason. The customer service people are awesome. I bought a CD player. I used it once, but then I got a 2gb mp3 player as a holiday gift. I was able to return my opened CD player with a receipt, of course. At first they were hesitant, but when I told them how I received a mp3 player as a gift, they happily obliged because the CD player was pretty much in perfect condition and they gave me back a full refund. I felt guilty for taking my money back from Walmart so I decided to buy a pairs of jeans, cereal, an apple, and an orange with the refund money!!! So cheap! Plus, the cute cashier was super nice! She smiled and greeted me and asked how I was doing. That's the most action I received from a girl in the past five months. read more

When I first arrived to maryland, I was given a bassinet that was purchased from a Walmart in Arizona. When I opened it there was no bassinet in there. Just other random items. I called several other walmarts in our area and this place was the only one that was willing to help us. We got our new bassinet just in time before the baby arrived. The worst Wal Mart I've been to in the U.S. I'm a consultant and travel constantly for work and stop by aton of Wal Marts around the country to grab fruit or other items, and none have been this bad of a experience. All staff including managers are very lazy and unorganized. Purchased coffee bags and they were somewhat crumbled up, nothing too big since they were all like that. Came back to use it and the coffee was very stale. Drove to wal mart that same day to customer service, and the two women who were at the front counter were helping one customer for 35 minutes (not exaggerating). Asked one of the representatives is there anyone else here to help them since there were two others behind me as well. She stated, "we'll be with you in a moment sir". From hearing the customer conversation, he was just returning a empty plastic box with his receipt and they were giving him a hard time. After 35 minutes I came to the front with my coffee bag, and receipt stating the time/day I purchased it and the women automatically stated we can not return that since it is already opened. Spoke to Sara, who's a co-manager below the store manager John, since he was not there that day, and she had a thick accent. Told me right off the bat I could not return my item without even hearing what I had to say. She also stated all items in her wal mart are not damaged. Asked her I'll show her the other coffee bags, and she refused to do so with me, stating again she could not help me. I'm never shopping at Wal Mart after this experience. I'll shop at Target or another supermarket, since I won't get damaged goods, and if I ever do their customer service will help make it or solve it right. Not to mention I wouldn't want to waste 55 minutes of my time going back and forth, and pay a extra $0.20 cents at target. read more

Although this WalMart is generally no worse than any other, this review specifically refers to this location's automotive department. Went in to have my tires rotated. Pretty simple procedure. Took 4 hours. FOUR WHOLE HOURS. On top of that, the "technicians" decided part of a rotation would mean stripping out all of the weights placed in the wheels to balance them. Then, they cranked on side of wheels on beyond the torque settings. Now my $10 tire rotation creates the need for a $170 balance and alignment. If you value your car, and your wallet, don't bring either here. read more

This is the closest Walmart to my house. It's large and generally has what I need in stock. There's also a market section which is probably convenient; however I have never bought anything from there and cannot speak to the quality of the produce. The staff are pretty unmotivated to help. When they see you approach, they don't stop whatever conversations they're having with each other until you loudly interrupt. Some of the staff don't seem to know where some of the items are located. Most recently I came on a rainy weekday afternoon. There were only shopping carts (no baskets--not sure if they have those at all) and they were all drenched, which made for a pretty gross shopping experience. There is plenty of parking. read more

Perhaps it's a reflection of poor management, miscommunication, or a part of Walmart's new business model that is trying to drive shoppers out of their stores and online. Whatever the cause--YIKES! What was once a well organized, well-stocked, and well managed store is now just a notch about a flea market! The store is almost always dirty and disorganized. Today, all of the unused carts were in the parking lot. I did see a Walmart associate place one (1) cart inside for one lucky customer. The rest of us had to fend for ourselves! While I can imagine it's tough to keep the Back to School section in order, I was here yesterday and it is clear that absolutely NOTHING was done last night or this morning to create order. Yes...the same trash was on the floor. Yes, three carts full of restock items were still parked in the aisle. Yes, you needed a flashlight, map, and snack to find almost anything because merchandise is NOT (in lots of cases) where it is supposed to be. No, there were no associates in the vicinity remotely capable of assisting you. Okay, so maybe it's just trifling kids and inattentive parents/guardians making a mess in this one section, right? WRONG! The entire store is in disarray! Floors are dirty, merchandise displays appear to have been someone's afterthought and there is an...ahem...odor that permeates the air. While a lot of businesses are still woefully understaffed, this is NOT this Walmart's problem. Associates were plentiful. Those serving as cashiers were working. The rest appeared to be on perpetual break or doing their best to look unapproachable. BTW...while scads of businesses DO accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc, I was "informed" by a less than friendly cashier "we don't take that stuff!" Well alrighty, then! This place is ridiculous. First of all, good luck getting ANYONE on the phone because I have called multiple times and the phone just keeps ringing. Second, you can NEVER get a straight answer from an employee (if you can find one outside of the cashier lines that is). Third, if you can find an employee you will get multiple answers to the same question. Facts such as operating hours should NOT be different depending on which employee you do manage to talk to. For a service department you should not get two different answers on if you need an appointment or not. The store is dirty but it's a Walmart so you should kind of expect that... and it's the only one in the area which is why it is ALWAYS packed. Save yourself for the hassle and go across the street to the Target if you can. read more

First, this is one of the MOST disorganized stores I've ever visited--no matter the day or the week or the time of the day. There is STUFF everywhere and much of what you are looking for is somewhere else! Second, I came to pick up gift cards for a mission project. I waited in line for 20 minutes only to be told that I have to go the Money Center. Basically, the cashier didn't want to be bothered. Apparently, that sentiment is shared in this store because the cashier in the Money Center looked at me (gift cards in hand) and rolled her eyes--I mean with a deep sigh. I explained what I needed and again--a deep sigh! THEN (salt in the wound)...the other cashier asked "How do you intend to pay for those cards?" EXCUSE me? I just say that as a woman of African descent who can cover these gift cards several times oVer with my eyelashes STILL in tact, I did not appreciate the attitude to start. Nor did I appreciate having to pay more than oo nice because it was easier for the cashier to keep her count! C'mon now...basic math here...and still with the attitude! I suppose Wal-Mart is a BIG store and they have millions of customers so my little $500 gift card purchase didn't matter to a single employee in that camp. It mattered to me. Like most sane people, I think the idea of going to Walmart is horrible. I'd rather do a lot of things than go to Walmart - clean my cat's litter box, change my niece's diaper, sit at the MVA for 3 hours... Going to Walmart is, needless to say, not my favorite past time. With that being said, once I'm actually inside this Walmart, I somehow wind up enjoying myself. It was an entirely different story before and during the renovations. The store now looks beautiful and offers so much more to the customer. The best thing is how affordable it is. People love to knock Walmart and say it's cheap, but not everyone is rich! Even if you are well-off, wasting money at expensive places when cheaper alternatives exist isn't smart. Walmart has plenty of quality products at affordable prices that really can't be beat anywhere else, and they offer such a wide range of stuff for everything from your home, kids, wardrobe, kitchen, baby, entertainment, hobbies, etc. I've bought so much furniture from here, both in store and online, and each piece has been so sturdy and reliable. Same thing goes for clothes. I love Walmart workout clothes even more than expensive brands like Fabletics! Their quality holds up and, like I said, you can't beat the price. This Walmart specifically has very friendly cashiers. If you take the time to ask how they're doing and if they've had a busy day, you'll see that they're people just like you and me, and the stress of the job can make them understandably look and feel like they don't want to be there. It used to be the employees that made me dread coming here, but now I realize it's my fellow customers. I've seen so many customers act rudely or inappropriately at this location. And many of them mess up the merchandise or let their children run around messing it up. That's how the store gets dirty and the employees get frustrated. It's very unfortunate and I wish more people would be more mindful of the impact they have. The Vision Center here is so-so. Dr. Nguyen is a great eye doctor, but the people who work the computers always seem to have an issue. One of them once tried to give me the wrong strength contact lenses and didn't believe me when I told her it was wrong. Another one of them tried to tell me it had been over three years since my last appointment when I had seen them just a few months ago. That place needs some help, I think. read more

This Walmart is average. It's better than it used to be though. However, they are not open 24 hours a day anymore. They have groceries, a McDonald's, a bank, a vision center, and a tire center. The parking lot is usually full so parking can be difficult. The bathrooms are usually a disaster and broken. At night the aisles are lined with boxes so it's hard to maneuver a cart through the store. The tire center is great though. I get my tires there. The price is right and the people in that department are helpful and pleasant. There is a waiting area with a tv and free coffee. read more

Since the remodeling the store has a better layout. It's not as cramped as before. The staff doesn't seem friendly (although I'm sure they're) not to many of the smiling. It seems that I run into issues with the cashiers not knowing how to manually input coupons. I'm giving it three stars - although I'm being very generous. The only reason I'm being so generous today is because I didn't actually shop there, but returned something I bought online. I've shopped there before and each staff member I've encountered on each visit acted as if they either wish people weren't in the store, or that they weren't in the store. I'm not sure which, but either way - same vibe. Anyway, on today's visit the customer service representative didn't seem like she wanted to provide customer service, or didn't want to be at work, not sure which, but... I got in & out without having to deal with any other store employees, or watch any other store employees act inconvenienced by encountering other customers. So basically I averaged the five stars I would've the online experience, with the one star I would normally give having to (God forbid) shop there, and came up with three stars. Walmart lets you check on the web to see what products are available in a particular store. So I checked -- they said this store had everything I was looking for, including things in very short supply during the coronavirus epidemic. Flour, toilet paper, etc. The things I was looking for the website said you could not order on line; they had to be in the particular store you were going to. I had visions of their buying power making them able to acquire stuff that other stores could not, and it was all right with me if they made you buy those things in the store so that you might buy other things there as well. So I went out there today. It was all false. They had none of the things I needed and that the website said this store had. I was so mad I didn't buy anything else, except some cat treats -- it is a pretty good place to find cat treats. Thus its one star. read more

I purchased a bike at Walmart's WEB site - even though it was available at Amazon and elsewhere; the main reason being I believed Walmart would stand behind their products, if any problems arose. As rarely happens - there was indeed a problem with the bicycle, right out of the box - one of the brake cables was broken irreparably. I brought the package back to Walmart; and it turned into a two hour nightmare, full of lies, deception, stalling, and ultimately - ended up with me having to take the product back home, and deal with the return shipment myself. The problem that seemingly started the ordeal was that the store had their shipping label printer break down. The personnel claimed I needed to take the package home, and ship it ourselves (granted - not at our expense, with a prepaid return label). This defeated the whole idea behind purchasing at Walmart, because of its supposed rock-solid standing behind their products. I questioned why the store's problem turned into mine. I asked if they could possibly accept the return, and deal with the issues on their end - e.g. by processing the return shipment once the printer is fixed. The first customer support Rep who worked on my situation actually made this "solution" impossible - as she interrupted the return process in the middle - and I did not have the prepaid shipping label in my email mailbox !! A gallery of equally incompetent characters then started showing up, each one claiming to be the Manager on Duty, and claiming that this simple solution would absolutely exceed their authority, and that it was an absolutely impossible rocket science to help me out in any way. I dealt with four people in succession, each one lying to me about being the absolute top manager available, and unable to help. After about an hour of dealing with these people, behaving in this despicable manner - I noticed a man who was in fact dispatching them to deal with me; and approached him directly. Turned out he was the actual Manager on Duty, Mr. Antu ! When I confronted him about not stepping in and helping me out for real - his explanation was, essentially - "there are too many of you, and only one of me" !!I I want to single this gentleman out, again - his name is Antu. I blame him personally for wasting more than an hour of my time by refusing to help. Ultimately, he had no choice but to deal with the debacle; he directed one of the associates to get WEB support on the phone, and they ultimately were able to email me the prepaid shipping label. At least, this allowed me to take the package back home, and return ship it myself. While not ideal - this was at least workable. Under no circumstances should it have taken two hours of my life !! read more
