This was my first stop after I landed at MCI. I arrived on time but my bag did not and so I used this as an opportunity to buy a bunch of stuff I needed. Wal-Mart HAD everything I needed items wise but as far as staff? Different story. I get that your A-Team is probably not going to be on third shift but I needed a razor which was locked behind some cabinets and managed to flag down someone to ask if he could open it? He said he didn't have the key and moved away from. Did he know anyone with a key? Nope, dull-eyed stare...ok thanks. Fortunately, an end cap of razors didn't need someone to open it and I snagged that. So, if you need something that's behind a locked case maybe come in the daytime or be willing to commit a misdemeanor, I doubt the staff would stop you anyways. read more

Thank Goodness there was a Walmart in the area we were staying. We had to pick up a few necessities. One being good toilet paper to bring back to our hotel room(IYKYK). And an added bonus, I found slippers that support my feet well and will make the trip home better. Finding this Walmart was a life saver. The staff just needs to learn to smile and interact more. This Walmart was so hard to navigate to find things we needed. For example freezer bags were not where you would normally find them. Women's shoes are located separately from children's and men's. After remodel with all their boutique like shopping the experience is much much better. They also opened a cheesesteak restaurant inside. They have space in the aisles. They sell Chaps, Jessica Simpson, their store brand for food is cheaper than any other local grocery. Employees having a dance off in the back by the bathrooms, employees yelling at each other in the mechanic area. The only nice employee I had an interaction with was the gentleman waving hello and goodbye at the door. The employees behind the technology booth did seem kind and helpful to other guests as well. On both entrances employees were on their phones by the carts, one of them was sitting on the floor. One employee was restocking with her cart in the aisle. I kindly said 'excuse me'- I was ignored and had to push her cart to the side for her so I could get through. Container that keeps bags up was broken at self checkout lane. I always think that because of the size of this store they will have adequate staff available for the customers but it seems like they never do. The pharmacy always has a long line too. You would think that with it being a larger a store that is open 24 hours they would keep it stocked and staffed better. The grocery store is usually always bare or the items are bad, questionable or expired. It's frustrating to come in and not know what will be available from one visit to the next. If I have to choose between coming here or another store I tend to go elsewhere. It's sad that a store of its size can't accommodate the population around it. A better Wal-Mart than most, possibly because of it's proximity to the center of the Wal-Mart universe. KC is likely the biggest, closest city to Bentonville Arkansas and so gets a lot of management visits. Big, bright, well stocked, with an actual greeter who was paying attention, I popped into this Wal-Mart to pick up a replacement USB charger as I had forgotten to bring mine. Easy to find, easy to pay for, it was inexpensive and it did what I needed it to do and was probably a quarter the price of buying one at an electronics big box store. I ordered a television online to be picked up at the store. All right the order is ready to be picked up. I get there and I cannot use the online app to show I am there and ready for the pickup. I call the number and it goes to an a message that says leave a message you are here and we will call you back. That never happened. I went into the store to customer service. My tv is ready. I'm here. Sorry that is through online only you need to go back and call the number until someone picks up the phone. I cancelled the online order and purchased the tv through the register. I rate my experience with zero stars if this was an option. I purchased a vacuum from Walmart this past weekend. When I opened the box the next day, there was no vacuum in it, instead I found 3 tree logs in the box! I immediately called and spoke with a manager. I explained I bought it the night before and had my receipt. I questioned if the box was a return item when I bought it because the top looked a little bent and retaped. He asked when I was in the store, what was I wearing and then pulled me up on their video surveillance. I was on the phone with him for over 20 minutes and he took my name and number and said he'd call right back. That was around 1:30pm. After several calls to the store and being hung up on before I could reach anyone, it was 7pm at night. Today I called back and spoke with another manager who was really rude. She told me that they NEVER open any boxes that are electronics, they go directly back to the manufacturer and not on the shelf. I told her it wasn't electronics it was a vacuum. She said it plugs into the wall doesn't it? Then it's an electronic item. (Wtf???) I had to call Bissell regarding this, and told them Walmart refused to reimburse me, that I had to take it up with them. Fortunately Bissell's honored Walmarts screwups and is sending a new vacuum to me, but instead of getting it (yesterday when I really needed it) it'll be 7-10 days. I felt Walmart was accusing me of stealing from them, the whole video surveillance and all. The manager today said it was Bissell's fault, and not theirs. I specifically asked if Bissell sent the vacuum box taped shut with logs in it and she (Stacy) said yes, their employees wouldn't do that. I will never buy another product from them again in a box wo opening it before I leave the store. Neither manager apologized for this or my inconvenience. I even filed a complaint with Corporate and was told it was up to the store manager. No apologies from either manager, nothing except for being rude, ignoring my phone calls and refusing to reimburse me. Not only did I file a complaint at Bentonville but also with the BBB because of the way I was treated. This was the store on Barry Rd in Kansas City, MO Open your box before you buy it! According to this stores policy, if it plugs into an outlet it's considered an electronic item and they don't open the box or reshelve it. The employees absolutely embarrassed me and refused to help me. I will never step into this Walmart again. I signed up for Yelp with the only intention of making sure no one ever goes into this Walmart. This shelves are completely empty, the employees were watching YouTube videos in the middle of an isle. When I asked for help with something they acted like I wasn't there. In check out I had a Visa gift card that I didn't know how to use and the cashier told me I had to use a different form of payment instead of helping me use the one I had in my hand. I have never in my life felt so disrespected by employees at a store. I wasn't being rude and I always try to not bother customer service workers because I know how much people suck sometimes. I was in Walmart Board Walk in KC MO on 12/19/20 and the store was crowed as expected but I did not need or expect was for them to have some cleaning guy with a broom who might as well just shoved it up my back side. I was trying to look and instead of going around me he preceded to follow me around with the broom and stopped every time I stopped. I went to the front of the store stood in the middle turned around and just stared at him. He proceeded to turn around and started following another person with his broom. I clearly paid for them and was accused by the self checkout lady- "where's your other receipt" I said I only have 1 receipt. She proceeded to tell me I only bought one of the 3 balloons. I was searching for the limited edition Sporting KC beer that was released by Boulevard Brewing Co. I called the store off Boardwalk Ave in Kansas City, MO to see if they carried it, before I drove there. When I called, I was immediately transferred by the system to the fitting room. I asked the woman on the line if they had the product. She answered, "This is the fitting room," in a pretty sassy voice. "Well this is where I was transferred. Is there anyone else I could talk to?" I asked. She didn't answer me, but instead I heard her yell to someone else, "Do we have Sporting beer?!?!" She yelled it again. She then got back on the phone, and said, "Yeah, I think we do." "So you do?" I asked. "I just said that," she replied. "Ok, thank you." So I headed to the Boardwalk Walmart. When I arrived, I couldn't find the beer. I found a worker and asked him. He had no idea what I was talking about. He said he would go find someone. 10 minutes later, and I'm still standing in the store, with no one to help me, as the man disappeared. I finally walked to find him, and he was in a different section. "Do you have the beer?" "Yeah, they've never heard of it." I left extremely frustrated, a complete waste of time. I left, then proceeded to call the same store. The same woman from the fitting room answered. "Hello, are you the one I talked with about the Sporting KC beer?" Pause. "You called earlier, yeah." I then proceeded to ask her to next time ensure that you all carried the beer, before I trekked all the way out there and wasted my time. Without an answer, she HUNG UP the phone on me. No apology, no answer. Just click. Feeling completely disrespected, I call back. "May I speak with your supervisor?" "If I can find one." The woman set the phone down, and never came back. All in one shopping. Yea! So, the good part about Wal-Mart is that it is a all in one stop shop. You can literally get just about everything that you need in this place. WalMart has stream lined the stores they have, so some are Neighborhood stores that are basically big grocery stores. This one is a Super Walmart, so you can get a birthday cake, oil change, a riding lawn mower, LED tv, a rotisserie chicken, cell phone, landscaping, semi gloss paint for your kitchen, a drill, brown sugar, and checking account from American Express. There is always a row or two in the back by the cat and dog products that is a clearance superhighway. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. I suggest getting a juice or soda and take you time. If you are a person that can not handle disorganization and things piled sky high - don't go in. Stick to the regular isles. The clearance is not for the faint of heart. They keep it clean. I would not suggest Sunday as a day to go. It is pretty busy. Otherwise, save money and continue shopping my friends. read more

Online Grocery - Not only was the order over 20 min past the 1 hour pick up time, the order was shorted by 6 "out of stock" items. I Finally got my order a little after 7:20pm and went into the store to find similar items for the "out of stock" items on my own since it seemed to have been an inconvenience to the "shopper", and low and behold there were 4 of the 6 items "IN STOCK"!!!!!!!!! I took pictures of all items to post on Google and Yelp with a similar comments about my experience!!! I really don't understand how the online pick up is supposed to be convenient! Auto Care Center does not have a Manager or Assistant Manager for this Department. Called the store before coming in to buy 4 new tires for my daughters car. I pulled up to the bay and a mechanic asked me what I was doing. I told him that I was buying tires for my daughters car and he asked me who I spoke to and what did they tell me. I told him that the woman that I spoke to checked and the tires were in stock and now would be a good time to bring the car in because they were only busy with oil changes. He ranted at me that it was going to be a 2 1/2 to 3 and 1/2 hour long wait. He raised his voice to me and seemed very upset. I decided to stay and get the job done anyway. The cashiers were wondering around back there, unfocused and griping about customers. The lady that I spoke to on the phone had mysteriously disappeared. I waited for a short time in the disgusting customer waiting area with filthy child size chairs, and dirty floors. then I wondered the store for awhile. I reported this behavior to the front end check out managers and they told me that they were sorry I had this experience but they didn't know what goes on "back there". I was not paged three hours later when the car was ready and the woman cashier was rude and condescending to me. I paid the $500 bill and went on my way. I think that several changes need to be made to this department in regards to customer service re-training and that this area needs to be scrubbed down with Lysol or pinesol. I can honestly say that I have reservations about returning to this store. It's really a shame to, because this store used to be so clean and customer friendly. So sad. Something about this place always has me coming back for more, similar to pizza street on an empty stomach. This fresh coat of paint is really adding a nicer and more "Target" feel to the place. I did recently find speakers marked $10 higher than I saw earlier this week on Amazon, but that isn't stopping me from shopping at my local super center. Walmart is the heart of this community, providing all its citizens with access to food, clothes, gifts, and appliances at reasonable prices.
