This is the only Walmart for miles and miles... so they are getting a star purely for convenience alone. The parking lot is actually pretty well maintained and is spacious enough to handle the amount of cars that are in and out. The store itself is actually pretty organized, bright, and well stocked. I wish they had a little bit better variety of case beers. There are plenty of options for 6-packs, but when it comes down to party time, you really only get your typical domestic options. (Specifically - any type of Cider.) There seems to be a trend of unhelpful employees here. Once simple pet peeve, when you are asked where something is, don't point across the store and tell me "over there", give me an aisle, or better yet, take a little walk with me. This weekend we asked where something in the kitchen area might be and were told, (politely)... if we have them they are hanging on the shelf. Cool. Then we found what we were looking for 2 rows over on an end cap. I have never had anyone outright rude, but certainly never had anyone go out of the way to knock socks off with customer service. Tried to return something tonight. It's close to an hour round trip. I got there and the customer center was closed. Talked to 3 different associates (including the cashier supervisor) who basically told me tough luck. Come back tomorrow "maybe" they'll be here then. Luckily I asked someone stocking for a more senior manager. They found him and he was able to process the return. Left without shopping and spent my money down the road. read more

This was our first time at this Walmart as we just moved to the area. Our first interaction was at Customer Service where one of the managers, Lakia (Im probably spelling her name wrong) was amazingly patient with a very difficult customer for an extended period of time. Not only was she kind, but she went above and beyond to help this customer. Bravo! She stood out because she was incredibly professional and is a great example of how a manger should be! I wish there were more employees like her! A while later, as my family and I shopped the store, we asked for assistance from Janice Roberson as she was stocking shelves down an aisle. I asked her where I could find an item and she basically grunted and mumbled as she waved me and my kids away. I asked her to repeat herself and she told me she doesn't know and "every store is different" and shooing me in a direction, while not even pausing her task. She was outright rude and even my kids were shocked. Having been a manager in a major retail store, I understand there is a wide range of professionalism and lack there of. These two women show the extremes of the scale. The store was in good order, decently stocked (I understand Covid has caused some issues) and most employees were courteous and welcoming. The parking lot was clean as was the inside of the store. Keep up the good work! read more

This has always been one of my favorite Walmarts. I've come here for years now. It's not a bad store. It's nicely lit, big, and usually had anything and everything you want or need! It's one of the few Walmarts I've been to where the Greeters are still nice and actually greet you. The pharmacy on the other hand is a pain. Most of the time I've never had a problem... but if there is a problem with your prescription, you're going to be mad! I had a problem and the staff automatically hot defensive and act as if you're pitching a fit. I had a problem and was trying to explain the situation and the pharmacy techs acted extremely inconvenienced. Thankfully there was one older pharmacist there that took pity on me and helped me out. In short, the rest of Walmart is good. Pharmacy is ok unless you have a problem. Look for the older gentlemen in the pharmacy. He'll help you. read more

I was shopping the Walmart in Kilmarnock, Va today (Saturday). The store was crowded and there were many stock clerks obstructing the aisles along with the usual excessive use of the electric carts. My main complaint is when I tried to check out there were only 2 register lanes open, one of which was an express checkout. Customers were overflowing into the second aisle of the store. The self checkout was equally congested. After a substantial time I left my cart full of groceries and went to Tri Star. where 4 of 6 of their checkout lanes were open, and they were not that busy. I am sure that Food Lion and the other local grocery stores are very appreciative of the poor management of this Walmart read more

Went to Kilmarnock, VA Walmart on 9/25/13. Absolutely terrible service! Employees just standing around talking and ignoring you despite the fact that you are standing there obviously in need of help. Finally, I had to say " can anybody help me ?" . There would be even 3 or 4 employees there, ignoring you until you finally requested assistance for help. An elderly lady was walking around looking for something, it was OBVIOUS she needed help, Three employees walked right by her. It would be impossible not to notice she needed help. My wife went over to her , helped her find the item, and gave her a tip to help her find it in the future.( that it is in the first aid section there & also in that section at most other stores). The lady was very thankful and said thank you for the tip. read more

I was in the Kilmarnock Walmart yesterday and looked at the fish in the pet section. I was appalled by the conditions the tropical fish were in. The fish tanks were full of dead fish and it appeared that the tanks haven't been cared for for along time. I was so upset I left the store and called corporate. The person at corporate assured me that this problem will be addressed. These fish are being abused and someone needs to be held accountable. Shame on you Walmart. read more

Ok, I should start by saying 1). I seldom if ever post negative reviews. I'm of the belief that everyone has a bad day now and then. 2) Wherever I may be I'll typically seek out a Walmart. So here's my beef about the Kilmarnock Va. store. 1. My last visit 02\02\20, I wished to purchase some oranges. No where could I find a bag to put them in. Gave up and headed to the donut cabinet. Same thing, nothing to put them in. Sought out someone to tell. Nope no one in the area. Not surprising there was a donut box on the floor with donuts scattered around. Headed to cash out with 3 items. I found only one register open with a line. Again typical for this store. In the past, I have approached a manned register in time to watch them turn the light out as they told me "Sorry, I'm closing this register" Combine this with unfriendly, ill informed staff when you can find someone discourages one from ever wanting to go to this store. I can only believe the management of this store is lacking. I guess when your the biggest guy on the block in this area,customer service and a well organized store is not important. read more

My only problem with any Walmart is that they keep moving stuff. I think they move it so you have to walk every inch to find what you want. Hoping you pick up other items you didn't come for. No bag person, cashier has to do it all. Or you have too. I can go to tristar 8o'clock at night, there will be 2 cashiers & 2 bag boys. I can find what I need in a power outage. They can still take your money too. They find the price figure the tax and can give you change. Now that's smart friendly business. read more
