What could be better than a 24/7 Super Walmart? Not much! They have a very decent produce selection - avocados were ripe and delicious! Guavas were inexpensive and also ripe and tasty. Even the frozen vegetables section was impressive - cauliflower mash and cauliflower rice as sides helped to even out all of the unhealthy options available in the freezer aisles. I had a fridge and microwave at my hotel so I stocked up on food for the week I was here. I got a bag of salad for $3.50, and the vegetarian chicken tenders I buy at home to make salads with during the week. It's great to have the comfort foods of home with you when you're sleeping in a new place and adjusting to the jet lag etc. When I was done with my grocery shopping I went over to housewares to see about some jars - they had a good selection, although the layout of this section of the store was odd. I live decently far and work overnight so I tried to called to see what time the optometrist is there so I can get there as early as possible. It took over 15 calls and exactly 20 minutes of the front desk hanging up on me/not answering just to get a quick 30 second answer in the vision center. This Walmart is a joke. Stood at electronics for 30min waiting for the associate at the counter to help. Thought she was busy with something else. She finally told me it wasn't her department. Waited another 20 minutes for another associate to tell me the same thing. I knew what I wanted I just needed it from the locked case. A 5 minute in and out turned into 1hr. Called from Roma Tx to ask if there was any trampolines in stock and they asked big or small, i said big. So great i come from roma Tx which is an hour drive just for them to tell me there isn't any. The service wasn't good at all. While at the store employees sent me from (toy's, sporting, and garden center) just for them not to have any. read more

This store is really funny with the policy of selling alcohol drinks and cigarettes, they check your ID and your friend's ID when you shopping any alcohol drinks, if anyone doesn't have a valid ID with them,they don't sell to you, but if you are going to buy any cigarette, they will sell to you with out check your friend's ID. I asked about the difference between buying alcohol and cigarettes,the employee answered 18 can buy cigarettes,21 can buy alcohol.... oh my! how did you know my friend's age??? by looking at them?? Another thing was the key-cutting machine didn't give me a receipt, I asked the employee about how get a receipt,she just said that the machine might run out of paper,then went away. their manager told me that was not their responsibility. read more

This is one of the older and least attractive walmarts in town. It's also one of the busiest in the country. People like to trash it compared to the other newer walmarts in town, but the fact is you are more likely to find what you need at this store than any of the newer more attractive stores. I guess since they get so much business they are constantly restocking. Too many times have I left another store because I couldn't find what I needed only to find it here. read more

Worst Walmart ever. Waiting in line at the Money Center for 30 minutes only for them to tell me that they could cash my check because my middle name wasn't spelled out all the way it was just an initial even though everything else matched. Went to the automotive department to get my oil changed in my car. Three employees in the shop area, no one at the cashier counter. I waited for about 5 minutes, then an employee comes over and as I start to ask him a question, out of no where two people with their grocery carts full of groceries and other items asked if they could pay at the automotive department. The employee saw me first and knew I was there, but proceeded to wait on the two people with the carts. I interrupted him and asked about pricing on an oil change and he told me that he would be with me when he was finished with the two carts. I asked him if I could go in the shop to talk with the mechanics to ask them about pricing and he said no. Everyone knows that typically walmart's are horrible places and that the employees generally do not care about anything. This visit proved it once again. read more

What the hell is wrong with the employees at this Walmart 1200 Jackson rd in McAllen Tx, the one working at the technology area just walked away on me after I asked him to get me a smart plug, he said "you are going to have to wait because I'm taking a call", I just answered "whenever you want"... I followed the guy with my eyes and literally he just walked around the aisle and came back l, I just walked away, nonsense dealing with people like that. So I grab a Roku, and when I'm paying the autocashier doesn't pick up the code, so I call the attendant and she comes snapping, "you can just type in the code", I'm like wtf, I know that, "if I could see the little numbers, I'm not wearing glasses " I can not believe this experience at Walmart, usually it's pretty good, but today employees seemed disgruntled, or not happy, I'm sure they are not having a good day, but hey! I wish I could give 0 Stars. The first 5 employees I asked for assistance all told me they were on break... the only person that was helpful was the security guard on duty who seemed to be very aware of the mediocrity going on in the store. there was only 1 cash register open and 10 Walmart employees in line in front of me... why would a store manager put all employees but 1 on break at the same time.. went to Walmart to pick up 3 things and it took almost an hour and a half! I know if I ever acted that way at my job I would be fired on the spot. Walmart has to work on their employees work ethic! read more

Walmart stores in Texas generally have gone downhill so it wasn't a surprise when I stop by a local store dubbed "The Dirty Jackson" out of convenience...Well, convenience was all it had going for it. The store employees hang outside the entrance doors smoking cigarettes at night, the store is unclean, employees are unfriendly and rude and of course, the produce section needs a face lift The most recent incident was two nights ago, I go to grab a bag of oranges priced over $6 and get mold and juice all over my hand. This store needs to be up graded, the employees re-trained in customer service, the store needs to be deep cleaned, and products need to be kept orderly and fresh. A large majority of Americans have asthma so employees should NOT be outside the front doors, on the benches smoking. It drafts all the way through the entrance and past where the carts are held. That is NOT family friendly! I'm not sure if anything will be done about this and many issues within this location, but it's worth submitting my experience. I have been to this store about 15 times and this is my overall viewpoint. I don't care about Walmart convenience or hours, HEB here I come! read more
