I haven't previously reviewed a Walmart because they are overwhelming, and not each department is receiving the same attention. Some can be very orderly, with an adequate amount of associates ready to assist. While other departments look as if there hasn't been a shipment of products delivered in months. The Walmart Supercenter of Metairie, LA is no exception. I went here to pick up my favorite cough drops. In Louisiana it seems like right after Christmas, they are ready for their big holiday, Mardi Gras. There were multiple isles with all types of purple, green and gold decorations, for your face or your place. The beauty isles were not looking good. It's like an abandoned zombie apocalypse just happened. At this Walmart they have their own pharmacy and vision center, in addition to the rest of the madness. You can also rent a movie on Redbox. I found my Fisherman's Friend cough drops and I was on my way. A Walmart is a Walmart is a Walmart. If you know one, you know them all. read more

Very rude cashier we had to deal with the other night. Brought up a bunch of cans of cat food to purchase and she wants to scan the trays that they put them in the shelf in. Apparently scanning those trays costs more and that's just the display boxes. Since we were buying so many to feed 7 cats. She was too lazy to scan each can and was all I need to get the manage because we aren't supposed to be selling there separately. Well then why is it you stock them? Why is it that they scan properly with a price and let us check out. Why is it we can order singles online for pickup or delivery? The manager came over and entertained the asshole cashier and said she would go check. Walked off and came back less than a minute later so I know she didn't go all the way by the pet food because she knew it was the cashier being stupid but didn't want to argue with her that it's clearly a sold item at the store. Don't know if she was planning on buying some of these because they were discounted or what but she should scan the barcode on the product, take payment and goto the next customer not try to start problems with the customers. If I went up there with anything else in a box and said here scan the box they would want to scan every item separately to make sure nothing was mixed in that was hidden. Walmart really should evaluate when employees do this. And that manager should have made a note on the situation to her management to look into this employee. Home Depot had an employee try this and called the police because the upc scanned what the cashier thought was too cheap to allow it to be sold. They had a huge settlement over it and that employee sadly is still working at the store along with the manager who took sides with the cashier. read more

This is my go-to Walmart. It looks like it was recently updated, including a new Reebok section that feels almost like a department store. The clothing section is actually pretty good. I usually come here for toiletries, and I appreciate that they have plenty of self-checkout lanes, which makes getting in and out much faster. Customer service is surprisingly efficient as well. Overall, it's Walmart but a solid one with a good selection of everything you need. read more

Worst Walmart experience I've ever had. The customer service counter only had one person working. I felt very bad for her and the poor management of the store. At one point there were 25 people there waiting in line. I saw the manager and said to her why don't you help she goes snidely I am helping. Finally she got behind the counter to actually help. The poor girl at the counter was very apologetic for the situation. It took 25 minutes to return one item and the first customer that was there when I got there was still being helped. read more

Mobile grocery order pick-up. I'm grateful my order was available. I was supposed to pick up between 9:00-10:00pm... a lady crashed I arrived at about 7:30 and the crew brought out my order with in minutes. I'm pretty cheerful in the morning. I said "Good morning" and the attendant didn't reply. This experience was different from my order a month ago, the gentleman greeted me and confirmed my name to make sure it was the correct order. I guess My expectations were too high based on this interaction. 3.5 because customer service is a gift and not many are great at it. read more

It seems as though our Walmart has gotten a bit more friendly. I have, in the past, had some bad experiences there, but in the last couple of months, it's been noticeably better. The cashiers don't seem as cranky, and I've actually had a few employees yo take it upon themselves to an ask me if I needed help. It's was surprising, but welcomed. Yes, I know the clothing isn't great quality but they're tshirts and I don't expect them to last too long anyway. Which is about right for the $7.99 each price for a logo. I got the funnest (is that a word?) bright red tshirt with the CheezIts logo on it. Looking forward to wearing that one soon. Checkout was pretty decent for a change with a short queue that went speedily. Cart corrals needed some adjusting and masks were not being enforced. I live in River Ridge and I use this Walmart for my online grocery shopping. Every time I get a delivery, it's either milk spilling all over the place or my yogurt squished like somebody's stepping on it. Or they deliver me tons of meat and I don't eat meat. Or My deliveries are delivered blocks down the street to neighbors and I have to go find them. And now, once again, the lady forgot a bag inside her car and this time it's my son's celebration cake, and some other items needed for my tiny family party. I cannot get to the store so I tried to call the store once again. And like every other time, nobody ever answers. I just wanted to ask if she could come back and give me my items that are most likely in her car . So I tried the vision center to see if they could get me to a store manager and the lady said hold , and put me on hold for 15 minutes before I had to hang up. And then she told me when I called back , that the store never ever answers so don't even try. Walmart.com even said they tried to call the store and the man asked me why does the store even have a phone. You may as well just throw it in the trash. Lil. And that was walmart.com. Customer service saying that. They told me they were also frustrated with it. So once again, terrible service. Nobody cares at all. I would really like for them to bring my food to me today. I know there's more important things going on in the world but I did pay for the service and I paid a tip so I expect to get what I ordered. You think for a store as big as Walmart, they would have it together by now. They are nationwide and probably bigger. I can understand things happening here and there, but for every single order to just be a screwup, Just seems ridiculous and it just shows that they do not care about their customers. Pluses: They have everything you need in one ginormous place. Prices are phenomenal Huge parking lot Cons: It's hard to find someone to help you in the store. Most - not all - employees don't seem happy to be at work. Most of them look like they'd rather be at a funeral or in traffic court. It's not always so clean. There you have it. It's a giant Walmart with everything from deli meat to craft supplies. I love the low prices and the convenience of one stop shopping. If you use the Walmart app, you can rack up a little extra cash by using the savings catcher after your shopping trip. And wait until hell freezes over because nobody is coming, dude. There is one guy checking people out and he's needed to call on assistance from other clerks for almost every transaction. I was told that ever since the Covid mandate has been in effect, shopping here has gotten worse. And I can attest to that last part, there are literally no registers open in the evening. The line to the Self check out is both long and awful. Louisiana WalMarts are busy places, but they flow well when they have the right resources. Come back after Covid is my advice. read more

This Walmart is the post-katrina doesn't stay open 24hrs anymore Walmart. But even though they don't, it's still a pleasure to walk and shop around. Every time I've visited this Walmart, it's been pleasurable. The store is clean & ordered. Check out lines can be massive towards the end of the night, but normally someone will get on the PA system & request the 'register trained personnel' to come to the front to assist. This makes me happy. :) I, like most others, like the convenience of having most all the things that you need at your fingertips. Prices are better than fair & variety is normally plentiful. You should know what to expect. This location is closest to where I used to work. It is one of the better ones in the Greater New Orleans metro area. The parking lot is always a cluster. The interior is clean and well lit. Except during the early morning, the aisles are usually free from debris. The restrooms are usually worse the closer it is to the end of the day. The staff is sometimes useful. I can always find what I need. Self checkout is a nightmare. But in the afternoon, there are about 10 of the registers open, so that is nice. The people watching is good here, a nice mix of the people of Walmart and average looking people. The bakery is nice and has plenty of options for cakes. This is my preferred location to go to here. read more

This town needs ONE Place that is open 24/7 .i wish Walmart always had a consistent stock of what they carry. Like the dream shots, certain foods, more juniors and youth clothing considering it is pretty much the only store in this town to buy decent priced things, they should offer more selection. During the COVID-19 them changing the hours honestly seems pointless because there is nowhere to go if you NEED something, and no one social distances in there anyway, everyone is crammed together still touching everything and I don't see anyone with citrus going behind every consumer cleaning things! Walmart. It's not like you go there to enjoy it, but it is what it is. I have the great pleasure of ordering the coworker birthday sheet cake once a month so that means I'm here...you guessed it, once a month. I have to say though, the people in the bakery are pretty good! They are nice and haven't gotten an order wrong. Plus, can't beat the price. I usually can order the cake 2-3 days in advance and they have no problem accommodating. Once I tried the day before and it was a no go. The cakes are a crowd pleaser too. People gobble it up like there's no tomorrow! I recommend the buttercream icing over the whipped. Other areas that are noteworthy, Walmart, surprisingly also has a large selection of gluten free snacks for my gluten sensitive friends. Because of the self check out I am able to get in and out rather quickly which is great since I usually have to come during my lunch break. One thing I really dislike is their big ass bulky carts that always have noisy or bum wheels. Their grocery delivery service is getting worse. I placed an order yesterday to arrive today at 3 pm. After speaking to customer service and calling the store, they told me they have "delays" and that I am unlikely to receive my groceries until tomorrow at 3 pm. That would be 24 hours late. Their delivery service was unreliable during the christmas holidays, so I used Shipt and Instacart. I also find they are consistently unreliable regarding their last delivery of the day. Since they are the only grocery store that accepts SNAP for delivery, I am stuck with them for now. read more

During this time of pandemic, this Walmart had no hand sanitizer, as you enter the store. How does a huge store not have anything like all other grocery stores in the area with both water and soap outside and hand wipes to enter. I would give no stars if allowed, truly the worst Walmart Ive ever been to. Employees are super rude, if you need anything in this store, there's normally people walking around not available for your needs, and if you dare stop and ask someone for help, you get attitude and what I'd classify as the worst customer service experience ever. Customer service employees are not nice either, the csm's are clearly not trained correctly because they're unaware of Walmart's policies!!! Did a return on bad chicken, was told that I did not have the packaging then I'm out of luck, Walmart's 100% guaranteed policy isn't followed even when their meat was legitimately bad. I will not be returning, not for meat, not for anything. You can't pick and choose policies to enforce when you're under a corporation with rules. Managers need to train their associates better! I am truly NOT a fan of Walmart, but if I'm forced to go, I head all the way from the City Park area to Kenner just to go to this location. I'm a late shopper, so I always end up coming here after 10pm. I'm almost certain, this Walmart stay open the latest of any of the stores. 12am. This location has self check out, which is very convenient. Very clean, always stocked. I came here several times right before Christmas, and the lines were not long at all, due to more check out lanes OPEN then usual. It seems this store is managed very very well. Hats off to management and the employees who work here, especially during the past Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. If you know me personally, I hate going to Walmart. I end up buying things I don't need, but I will say this location makes that hate a little less. read more

Years ago I learned people love when we bring them travel junk back, but only for about 24 hours before they toss it in a drawer never to be seen again. This lead me to find the cheapest method of finding stuff that you can find in any other tourist shop charging more money. Hello Walmart, We found shot glasses for under $2 which I saw on Canal street for closer to $8 for same print. I was able to get some shirts for around $5 and a few other souvenirs that were much cheaper than in the tourist zones. This walmart could have been more updated, or cleaned, not sure which, but it served its purpose and that is all that matters, it gave family and friends a cheap trinket to ooh and ahh over before it found its way behind those dusty mickey ears from years gone by. read more

This store is usually super easy to get through, but, as always, avoid going during peak times, like Saturday or Sunday afternoons or in the early evening. The store is well-appointed and well-organized. They keep it clean, too which is nice, especially if you have been to the Tchopitoulas store, which is like a third world country after a natural disaster has wiped it out and your favorite tv personalities are begging you to text "save the g-d tchoup store" to 888-888-8888... The staff here is way friendlier than at other area Wal-marts, especially the pharmacists. They are super cool, which is amazing since they are almost always slammed with sick and crazy bastards. read more

Meh. It's Walmart. This one stays open later than the New Orleans walmart (they close at 12) but they're not 24hrs like the one in Kenner. Craft section wise this one does carry a small selection of fabric and about 5 aisles of craft stuff. They're next to a Home Depot so their DIY section is Lacking. The employees are not overly friendly and they often have long lines in the evening. They do have self check outs though. Parking lot has several blind spots cause they refuse to cut their hedges. read more

I have purchased General Tires from Walmart about a dozen times for my work vehicles. I've always chosen the Road Hazard Protection for the reason that no matter where we have a tire issue across the country Walmart is nearby and will repair them. Now, without notice, the policy is different. I ordered tires and had them installed when they came in. At checkout, after installation, I was told that they don't offer Road Hazard. Until then I had no reason to believe that policy had changed. Road Hazard protection was even mentioned in the brochure. By then, it was too late, I couldn't back-track. I can't demean the employees, they were pleasant and helpful, but could not override the new policy. I called customer service, and they were not impolite, but offered only 25% off the price of a new tire if I had a road hazard issue. I might add that I have had only one claim requiring a new tire in probably 20 years or more, and only a few flat repairs. I'm disappointed and will not attend Walmart ever again if possible. read more
