Moral of the story: Always check expiration dates -- especially at Walmart. We rarely buy meat from Walmart, but the other day my wife stopped in and picked up some breakfast sausage. When she got home and checked the ingredients, she noticed the expiration date was 12/25/25 -- already expired. She took it back to customer service and was given a hard time about getting a refund or even an exchange. After some back and forth, the manager finally agreed to let her exchange it. When she went back to the meat section, she noticed the entire brand was expired -- every single package dated 12/25/25. She grabbed ten of them and brought them to the manager, asking why expired meat was still being sold. No explanation. So, moral of the story: don't buy food at Walmart without checking the expiration date first. read more

Super Store TV show out performs this Walmart. My wife was in the fabric department with no associates available for material to be cut from a fabric bolt. She pushed a button for assistance and two employees arrived saying they can't assist. She pushed the button several times with a floor lead refused to acknowledge her. The floor lead said she only cut fabric a few times. Apparently a huge learning curve using scissors. After cutting she balled up the material instead of folding it like an interested and engaged floor lead should. Upon checkout at the register the cashier was bored and lacked the energy to scan our items. Worst shopping experience ever. read more

Not sure why this Walmart has such a low rating, but I gotta say that for the purposes of going here for the price, it's definitely not a bad place to shop. And honestly if you are going here, don't act like you are walking into a Gucci store - don't expect to have a red carpet rolled out and get top tier service. I see reviews of people saying the employees here are being rude, but I mean if you think about it, they don't get paid enough to deal with every customer complaint. It's Walmart. The only reason I give this particular store 4 stars and not 5 Is because: 1) prices don't always match the items at the display. Earlier this month they had sprite 2 liters at an end cap. The large price read $8. We called an employee over and she scanned them at their actual price. Another example: In the vacuum display there was a compact model but all the boxes surrounding it were large models. They were completely sold out of those compact machines. The employees don't interact or look happy but we are still in a pandemic. I'm not blaming them for that. Years ago we had a bad customer service experience with a cashier. I complained on Twitter within an appropriate time frame & disclosed details. It hasn't happened again. Overall I don't have complaints. - I believe in this company and will likely always shop here. read more

I have a mini dachshund for my service/emotional support dog She has all the required paperwork/training. I attempted to take her with me in Walmart. She was in the basket. I was stopped at the door and told she could not be in the basket and could not go inside. I asked why and was told rather rudely that IF she was a service dog she couldn't be in the basket because there was food and it was unsanitary. I said unsanitary? I went in to exchange an item with my receipt at Walmart on Walnut. Since it had been over 3 months I was told that I could not exchange the item or get a refund. I was sold this item because I was told it fit my car. I asked the manager, named Nikki, if she would over ride the computer. She said no. She said the policy is set, so there was nothing she could do as a store manager. Very poor customer service and management. They do not want my business. We bought a christmas Ham at Walmart. On Christmas day I cooked it as per the instructions. We had our family of six over for dinner. Served Corn casserole, Green Bean casserole, mashed potatoes, biscuits and HAM! The Meal was great except for the Ham - the ham was so salty, NOBODY could eat it. It was their 'special' store brand, I forget the name. That night, i put it all together in the original bag, next day took it back to walmart and told them i would like a refund. The lady at the counter said no way without the receipt. I had purchased the ham a week earlier for cash and didn't keep the receipt, but the label showed clearly it came from walmart. They called the manager, same result. I was NOT a happy person, finally called the number on the ham and explained my problem while standing with the manager. The lady on the phone said VERY CLEARLY that i should get my refund via a gift card. The ONLY amusing thing was that a sign behind the customer service desk said, returns could be accepted with or WITHOUT a receipt. I pointed it out to the manager, she just turned and walked away. I ordered a curbside and decided I wanted to add a couple of items. The pick up time was 7 in the morning and I tried to add at 8 the night before. When I tried to complete the add ons, the system told me that my car was expired and I needed to start a new order. This is the second time this has happened with the same card. I figure they try to get people the start a new order as you have to reach 35 $ to not be charged a fee. Very sneaky. Instead, I did a curbside for HEB. This not the place to bring your car or buy a part. I waited a long time just for a battery to be tested. Nothing happens here fast and more and more people keep piling up waiting for help. If you bring a battery here that you purchased here they do not tell you that it's going to be 90 minutes at least for a diagnosis good or bad. This is their way of getting you to just give up and go somewhere else. I will never buy anything from Walmart again. Came to Walmart today and as I was checking out I was ask by their cashier if any of the bananas was eaten? I said no. And I feel a bit offended because NEVER in my life I've ever asked in any grocery stores if any of the bananas or any fruit I'm purchasing was/were eaten. And even if for whatever reason I or my son consume it, I wouldn't mind paying for it. That's what's cameras are for. So I ask him, mind you this is a white guy & im Filipino and my son is half black. In particular, Customer Service Rep Jose happily assisted us immediately, lifting a heavy cabinet onto a cart and taking it to the front for us. Also, we stopped at the deli counter and was greeted by an awesome Deli Clerk and his new assistant (sorry, I didn't get their names) who chatted with us and made us feel so welcomed to New Braunfels. This is an awful place to shop. It's conveniently located right off of I-35 in New Braunfels, but don't let the location fool you. It's an older Wal-Mart, so the place is fairly run down. The floors are dirty, often sticky, and the place just looks out of date. The stockers were zero help in locating the things I needed, and helping to differentiate between the different price breaks on the items I was shopping for. Nobody was around to help, and when I managed to flag someone down, they acted like I was bothering them by asking where the milk was. The produce looked terrible. The onions looked like they'd been dropped, they were all bruised. It looked like the lettuce had been out too long, and was never really good in the first place. I was shocked to see what they're calling 'avocados', super unripe, they were about the size of golf balls, and the seed took up the whole thing. All of the produce was underwhelming, and I skipped. The cashiers were even ruder than the stockers. They act like you're putting them out to have to have the desire to want to check out. They treated me like I was trying to steal when I used a coupon. They examined it at length, all while sighing, like my trying to save fifty cents was a waste of their time. They seem to suspect that everyone is trying to rip them off, and they act like they're ready to bust you at any moment. For some reason, they wanted to see my receipt upon leaving the store. You don't have to show it to them, and they don't have the authority to detain you for failing to show a receipt. I just blew past them saying "no thank you" as they asked to see my receipt for milk, ice and bread. I feel offended that they stop me on the way out. read more

I wish I could give their automotive department no stars! This is the second time I've had my oil changed there now on a car I just got 6 months ago. The first time they forgot to put back on the cap for my windshield washer fluid and the cap to my antifreeze was missing as well. Those weren't very expensive to replace so I let it go. I decided to try one more time ...BIG MISTAKE!! I checked everything under the hood this time to be sure it was all there. Which it was. They never tell you what they did or anything when they return your keys. They checked my tires (brand new tires when I bought the car) but apparently they only put on two of the 4 valve stem covers. I drove two and a half hours right after my oil change and by the time I got to where I was going, my low pressure sensors had come on. That's when I realized that my tires were grossly under pressure and that the valve stem covers were missing. I called to talk to the automotive manager Adrian who treated me like I'm a dumb woman and told me that missing valve stem covers wouldn't do that. Well they are brand new tires... never had this problem before... the other two tires that they put the covers back on are just fine... so what else could it be???? The girl that answered the phone had more sympathy and customer service skills than the manager did! read more

I don't love Walmart, but it does come in handy when u need something like now and it's 5AM. New Braunfels does not have 24hour grocery store other than Walmart. We come here once every few months and usually regret it. We live closer to Target where it is cleaner and the workers seem happier. Prices are always reasonable but the lines are always so long and they have so many lanes always closed. The self check out area is the thing to do when it is working. Restrooms are often dirty. I paid $400 for a Samsung 55" TV with free delivery. I received a LG 55" TV ($360 value). I called online/deliveries and was on hold 30 minutes and hung up. I called back to electronics and spoke with a manager. She said I needed to bring the wrong TV and take the tight one from the store. I said I am in a 3rd floor apartment and had knee surgery. She said their 3rd party delivery service dropped off the wrong TV. I said the label on the box shows my name so a Walmart employee made the mistake. She said a manager higher up would have to handle the problem. That manager said the TV must be sent back to the warehouse hundreds of miles away. I was emailed a return label and had to buy an adhesive label at Office Depot. UPS. has not arrived at 5:33pm and they only pick up till 6:00. The warehouse has to receive this TV BEFORE they initiate my refund. And it would take up to 10 biz days to get my refund! So the person that ordered this $360 TV got my $400 Samsung. Do you think Walmart would be interested in getting the $40 they are short? Nope they said they couldn't figure out who got my tv. So the honest person gets the short end of the stick and the dishonest person who didn't report the mistake reaps an upgrade at my expense. And guess what while I'm waiting for my refund Walmart is making interest on my $400 and I have nothing to show for it. DONT HAVE WALNART NEW BRAUNFELS DELIVER ANYTHING. This location is always out something. Asking an employee if there's anymore in the back is a waste of time because they'll act like they don't know what you're talking about or tell you no without looking. I have yet to find one employee who actually acts like they like their job besides Stephen (who was in produce. I don't think he works there anymore) and the CSM Frankie. Oh, everyone in the bakery department is awesome! The lady in the dressing rooms always has an attitude. The door greeters aka "the walking dead" just stand there as you're walking in. I thought their purpose was to actually greet the customers as they walk in and give them a buggy. I could be wrong and may be confused about their job description... who knows but I do know that the employees behave according to management and this tells me a lot about the manager of this location. June, 2020: Bought 4 new tires from Walmart.com. Had Walmart service center put new tires on. Purchased warranty on all four tires. March, 2021: nail in one tire, less then 6000 miles on tire. Still looked new. 1st trip to Walmart service center: They said unable to repair tire bc nail too close to center. Two employees looked at the tire. Told me, that bc i had ordered the tire on YOUR WEBSITE that i had to order a new tire MYSELF. They ALSO told me it would be shipped to me in one to two days. SEVEN days later ( AND A CANCELLLED VACATION): recieved new tire that i had to pay out of pocket, $20 more than originally paid. I called to schedule an appt to get new tire put on. No scheduling allowed. First come. First serve so have zero idea how long the wait could possibly be. They said i would need proof of on line purchase but ZERO MENTION THAT IT HAD TO BE PRINTED OUT!!! In between: i called the service center, spoke to havier about the cost 9f the tire. He NEVER mentioned i would need to have a PRINTED version of the receipt, only tht i would need proof, which i had. He said that even though i had to order the tire myself and had to pay extra, he wasnt sure if i would receive any reimbursement but could possibly recieve some or most?!!!! 2nd trip: I am now told they would REFUSE to assist me if I would not print OUT that receipt (Havier, manager) and told me i would have to go somewhere, print it out, and come back a THIRD TIME. I explained to them my printer was out of ink and for me to print ANYTHING I would have to go purchase a $40 ink cartridge that i could NOT aford at the time. I later found out my printer would not even work AT ALL!! I offered to email it to the manager. He REFUSED. I offered to text it to them. HE REFUSED. It took begging to an employee, AND the manager (Havier) in front of OTHER CUSTOMERS to get them to help me. I was MORTIFIED!!! Havier (manager) finally, reluctantly, after five minutes of begging , reluctantly chose to take a picture of my receipt and EVENTUALLY do the job and reimburse me the money. WHYYYYYYYY must it be like pulling TEETH to get them to do any work like that??? He kept telling me there was no way for a customer to print out anything but yet he had to have a printed out receipt for His dept. I was MORTIFIED in that i had to BEG to get them to do the work i had paid for AND HAD PROOF OF!!!! It was so embarrassing to me and had me in TEARS all the way home!! People were looking at me and all I had wanted was something I had already paid for .... Worst. SERVICE. EVER. Do they treat other older people like this? I love Walmart and Sams Club. They consistently beat Costco overall on prices. Their produce and especially beef are as good as you can find in most groceries. You don't get hassled on returns. As a businessman I have always admired their business model and the culture among employees. I have friends that are anti Walmart or Sams but when you get down to details they're just allowing their opinion to be formed by the media and not reality. Most media folks are against them because they're not union. I feel unions are very detrimental to business and they have warred with Sam's / Walmart for decades. I wish Sams & Walmart would get into the health market and health insurance business. When government is involved they squander about 40% of our money on ignorant bureaucrats, then we receive whatever is left of our money and wade through the crap the bureaucrats have put in our way. read more
