Walmart has chosen to deliver groceries the same day which is great however the 3rd party delivery is not. We ordered in the morning and up until nearly 7 PM did not have much understanding of what was going on and frankly still don't. Because of the 3rd party w/o going into detail seems to have a great deal of power here, Steve spent a long day talking to a very frustrated, not pleased me in trying to understand what was going and, what wasn't. I want to reiterate that this was in no manner the fault of the Walmart Store, Management, or Employees. This is all a problem with the 3rd party upper Management has employed for delivery. Steve had offered to have my groceries delivered by, Steve. The Store Manager. I declined as this is not his responsibility. We continued to try to resolve the matter by making the responsible party perform their job to no avail. In my last conversation with Steve (Store Manager) that his Assistant Manager, Robert, was on his way to my home with needed food items. While waiting Steve continued to be calm (I have my moments but I try) as Steve was so patient. I'm usually fairly nice but was seriously stressed. Steve wished me a Happy Thanksgiving, was very calm, very professional, very courteous. I finally stopped talking and we hung up and a few minutes later, Robert was in front of the house. Robert (Assistant Manager) brought the groceries to my door and would not accept any gratuity. I could only thank him and compliment him at 1-800-WALMART and, by writing this long-winded review which is part of my problem kind like, diarrhea. Lol Thank you so much Steve and Robert at Walmart here in New Castle, IN. I hope they had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING along with a few drinks!!!! read more

This is neither the best, nor the worst Walmart. It, like so many others, is just there. After my recent visit to the home territory of Walmart, I have a new found appreciation for them. In northwest Arkansas, they have to compete with each other. The Target store in Fort Smith looked rather pathetic in comparison to a Walmart location I was told was the worst in the area. This store in New Castle isn't nearly as nice as that store, but people are friendly and there isn't much else. The good thing for customers in New Castle is that Muncie isn't that far away, and they have more choices. Still, if you're not leaving town, you can survive on Kroger, Speedway, Rural King, TSC, Dollar General and others without setting foot in Walmart. It is nice to be able to find most anything in one location, so that during winter or thunderstorms, you only have to worry about getting from and to the car. read more

I usually have an okay experience. But whoever the cashier is that smells like urine all the time. , I hear about you from the whole entire town. I hate calling people out but when you can smell urine three lanes down where you're checking out... you've got to take care of that. read more

I am not happy with our Wal*Mart at all.............. so so many times I have gone in there NO prices on anything have to walk half around the store to find a person or one of those devices on a pole and half the time they do not work!!! You go to a department and need some help or asst. and no one is in that department and then when you do find someone "OH I AM SORRY WE DO NOT WORK IN THAT DEPARTMENT" I mean how hard is it to Cross Train!!!! And the ones that do not work in that department just up and walk away instead of trying to get you any help!! There is a very few that will actually help but 70% will just walk away from you.... read more

Some of the stuff (not good) but items are cheap there and they break easily and they done even work, i purchased led lights and a wireless charging station and the lights and charging station didn't even work, and it had me stressing over it, but the food there is pretty good, but the items there are soo baddd, the cheap ones. read more

Its convenient and can have some good deals but would rather go to one in Muncie or Anderson better deals...

I give Wal-mart five stars for their masterful ability to single-handedly destroy the town of New Castle in my opinion. Shame on you Wal-mart, how do your owners sleep at night knowing that many people believe they are destroying rural America? When I visited New Castle years ago, before there was a Wal-Mart, the downtown area was full of cool little shops and departments stores. When I visited recently I see that it's all gone. If you ever get a chance to watch "WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price" on Netflix or from a video store, you will get a different perspective from the filmmakers than the one Wal-mart puts out there to the public. I stopped shopping there after I saw the movie and if everyone else did the same they would not make money off of you, would close down and then the mom and pop shops would open to serve the community; you know, like how it used to be. read more

Restrooms were cleaner than most & they had someone, who actually did come in to clean on a regular basis. Some of the sinks did not work. Automated, but no water. The store itself was relatively clean. Fruit & Vegetables were seconds at best. Many items were too old to be on the shelves. Strawberries for example had many, that were on the way to rot. Fresh corn was old & over priced for the quality offered. Deli items were not at their best & did not invite my attention. Staff at the deli were slow, items under stocked. One of the workers slicing meats& cheese for packaging, yelled at another worker because she had walked over to help a customer at the deli, & had to grab some containers in the back "for her to help her"; worker coming back to finish helping deli customer; had to yell over to that worker, that in fact she was helping deli customers. Some issue there, as to who wants to be boss perhaps. Fairly well stocked in store otherwise. Saddens me to see, that Walmart continues to substitute their own brands for brands I would prefer, rather than the lower standard products they are putting out. I'm not sure if they deserve 3 stars. I will give it to them though because they have some nice employees there. Some not so much but others are pretty nice. They have a nice vision center. I love their prices and their designer frames. They have a great doctor there and great employees. The store section is not that great. Their selection blows. The one upside is the fabric, crafts, and art department. Their toy selection is to be desired. They have a PC game selection. Better than most I've seen. The portrait studio went out recently and they replaced it with a poor excuse for an arcade, seriously? They should have a service in there like the other walmarts. Something like Nail Design ect., I don't know just something else. Or may let a snack place come in there. That's not my grief with them though. I'm trying to give them a fair shake. Here's my main problem with them. Their automotive center. They don't give you an accurate time. They take people in after you even after you got there first. I was told once that it was based on DEMAND...WTF is that suppose to mean. So I got held hostage at Walmart for 3hrs while they had my car in the bay but was working on cars that came in after me. That is completely unacceptable and they need to get their stuff together. I know I'm done with them. I'm going to meijers to get groceries, hobby lobby for fabric, and anywhere else but there to get things done to my car. And if there is an emergency then and only then will I step in there. Such as its midnight and I need something so desperately from there I cant go anywhere else. They are now on the bottom of my list choice when they use to be my first. read more

If they take an extra cut of your money through the new self-checkout, how else are they are taking extra? I purchased an item, went through the new self-checkout. The machine did not correctly add all the change I inserted and shorted me on the change I got back. The attendant had seen me standing there waiting while he waited on another customer having a problem with the self-checkout. I explained the problem to the attendant when he waited on me. He said since the machine had already given me change, there was nothing he could do. I don't understand why he couldn't take the incorrect amount I received and give me the correct amount. O well, there are competitor's stores not that far away. Good customer service is always appreciated, when you can find it. read more

I have lived in New Castle all of my life and I must say that I am disappointed in the Wal-Mart policies. I used to purchase material from Wal-Mart and I also bought from Joann Fabrics. Wal-Mart ran Joanne's out of business and THEN they stopped selling bolt material. Now when I need to purchase material of any size I have to either drive to Indianapolis, Muncie, or Richmond. Wal-Mart also stopped having layaway in their store. I don't know about many people, but I used layaway for my larger purchases. Now, I JUST DO NOT MAKE the larger purchases at Wal-Mart, I go elsewhere. I wonder what Sam Walton would say if he were alive. I thought Wal-Mart was built on the idea of helping the little people, but instead they are ultimately hurting us. I stopped shopping at Wal-Mart some time ago because I can never find what I am looking for. I prefer the hometown feeling, where they still care about their employees and their customers. read more
