Normally I would like Kroger. I like your food I like their store and I like their selection. Today not so much. I called in advance of coming to Kroger @ New Castle to purchase tickets to the Beach Boys concert on 8/5 at Conner Prairie! I was told that the advanced sale tickets were $29 each. When I came into the store I was told that the $29 tickets were not available for the August 5 concert by the Beach Boys. It was printed on the tickets!. This morning I stopped and got gas at the New Castle Kroger as I was waiting for my son, he's was pumping my gas I open my bank app and see that Kroger put a hold on my card for $175.00! My little car took $42.01 filled up. I was told by Kroger it should go back on my card in 24 hours. Will it be returned to my card on a Saturday!?!!?!! Who knows, but if you use your debit card at the pump expect a hold on your card. I don't need that money for anything today but what if I did!!...It's just to bad i guess.! No more gas from Kroger!!! Lesson learned!! read more

It's ok. The Boars Head lunch meat is not good. Its either not real Boars Head or it's outdated. I know Boars Head, I was in Florida for years, and their Boars Head is not the same. The pharmacy staff is overworked and the pharmacist can give you a dozen different reasons why your prescriptions can't be filled, most of the excuses don't even add up. There is a staff shortage so the place seems unkept and dirty. Bathrooms are nasty. It's good for produce, we only have Kroger or Walmart for produce and Walmart's produce needs to be put in the dumpster most of the time. The staff at Walmart stated in comes off the truck like that. OK so a grocery store is a grocery store but Kroger has really great prices and "Manager's Specials" but just be sure to check the expiration date on EVERYTHING... I am constantly finding myself tossing food out because it is outdated within days of bringing it home. I now check the date on anything, even canned goods and items in boxes. I brought this up to an employee who was about as interested in my opinion as Sarah Palin would be at a conference on evolution. Update: While shopping today I noticed expired fish and other seafood turning a greenish-grey color, really quite sad. If they would stay on top of this sort of thing it would be a much more appetizing experience to shop for food. Update #2: Again today, found lots of things we picked up were already expired, some items by as much as 2-years. This is sad and kinda gross. If Kroger would make a real effort to stock only fresh items, both packaged and fresh produce, I wouldn't have to drive to Muncie or Trader Joes in Indianapolis just to buy food. read more

I used to be a Kroger fan but recently the NC Kroger has empty shelves, long lines and does not stock everything on the digital site OR they have so many new employees that they don't know the departments well enough to send you to the right area. The one very bright shining dept. is the NC Pharmacy, always very helpful and effeicient. I don't know if Kroger has cut staff nationally in the push to make us shop online or if it is just this Kroger? Either way I am looking for other options in shopping now because I consider the NC Kroger torture at this stage. read more
