I absolutely HATE the self checkouts there is 5 people standing around self checkouts when they could be opening up some lines to keep the flow moving. I just won't use them if I have to shop there I would rather stay in line they mess with the checkouts. Walmart keeps saying they are going to remove them and never do. I appreciated it when there was speedy checkout lanes as well as other lanes. There was a checker at each checkout line too when it was busy. Now they have a few lanes and only a few are open. While the employees are paid to stand around taljing to one another. Used to have a subway and hair salon in there. Both are closed for no apparent reason. Subway was really good you could sit there and people watch but can't do that anymore. Can't get a sandwich when you get done shopping. Ozark Walmart used to have a beautiful tiled floor and they tore it all up for absolutely no reason exposing the ugly gray concrete underneath it like the getto Springfield Walmarts. It's not open 24 hours anymore. I used to be able to go there anytime I needed. If I didn't want to deal with the crowds I could go there at 2 AM if I wanted to. Absolutely no reason for that we aren't in ghetto Springfield where people steal. if someone does steal it's easy to hire security and call law enforcement like they used to. Ozark Walmart used to be a happy place. but it's absolutely terrible. Sam Walton was a great manager and it was a million times better under her leadership. Now it SUCKS! I am sorry. it's sad because I genuinely used to enjoy shopping there

The prices are surprisingly low for a store of this type which is appreciated. Apparently they just finished a remodeling job on their business which included a lot of their new inventory. Not sure what it looked like before, but it's great. I love stores like this and I hope that it will continue to thrive here in Springfield.

I was at Walmart on May 23rd with my fiance doing some grocery shopping we got up to the…read moreself-checkout like we always do and started doing the checkout when the attendant lady said that a couple of our items had been missed scanned she needed to go to the monitor clear out the monitor and make sure everything was okay this happened twice she said everything was good we were fine so how do in the world where we to know that there were four items that did not get scanned she then called another lady up and said that there were several missed items the lady went back through it she found four items that were missed there was another gentleman called up who told me I was f****** stupid and if I knew what we were doing we wouldn't be standing there verbally cursed me out called me names pushed me with his body weight and pushed my hands away as I was trying to pay for the missed items cops did show up I did go to jail but it was for nothing that I did at Walmart it was for a couple stupid traffic warrants that I had traffic tickets so if anybody was there on the 23rd of May and heard what happened would you please come on here and tell your side of the story because Walmart seems to think that I am crazy I know what I said I know what I was told and I know that he put his hands on me and physically pushed me away from the register trying to pay for my items his behavior was not to be tolerated by any means in customer service anywhere so again please help me make sure this man does not keep his job we do not need people like that working inside of customer service if you are going to curse out your customers call them names you do not need to have your job

I spent a little time learning about Ava while we were here, and it quickly became clear that this town is the hub for the surrounding area. A manager at Walmart told me that this store and the businesses around it are essentially the central gathering place for the entire county, and after being here, that feels exactly right. In a rural area like this, it's where people come to shop, get gas, run errands, and connect with everyday life. Since we're headed to visit my cousin in Mountain Home, Arkansas, in about an hour, we stopped to pick up flowers as a welcoming gift. While I was there, I also looked for one of those exterior windshield scrubber squeegees for the road ahead. The regular ones were sold out, but they did have an "intelligent" Rain-X style spray squeegee. One of the associates mentioned there's an O'Reilly down the street, so I may deal with that another time. One small moment that really stood out was seeing a gentleman bringing his grocery bags back into Walmart for recycling. It was such a simple thing, but it said a lot about the rhythm of this town and how this store really serves as part of the community's daily routine. That's what I love about traveling by road. Even a quick stop in a town like Ava tells a story. You learn a little local history, pick up something useful for the drive, find flowers for family, and get a glimpse of how a community comes together in one place before continuing on down the road toward Arkansas.
