I was traveling for a last minute gender reveal party and called the Walmart Bakery at this location for a one day turnaround order. All I said was I wanted a few cupcakes that matched an ice cream themed party and gave the bakers creative liberty. They placed a lovely whipped blue frosting on the inside so the soon to be mother was able to bite into it and show all of us we are getting a new boy to the family! I was impressed with the quality, taste, and the cost is more than fair (seriously, like a little over $1 a cupcake! - I felt like I robbed the store it was such a great deal!) All things considered, there is no reason not to order custom cakes for every future event! The ladies that helped me were pleasant and did a great job. read more

This store is open during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can have your groceries delivered through Door Dash. I have been here a few times to pick up groceries at pick up area, their staff is generally helpful and pretty quick to help you out. As far as the rest of the store goes, this is pretty clean and they have the same merchandise as any other Wal-Mart in the KC area. read more

Location matters, as I have mentioned before with fast food locations in Olathe. Wal-Mart is not exempt from this. I shop at Wal-Mart a few times a week, and dependent on the location (K-7 versus 135th and Alden) I am going to have a different experience for each store. K-7 is further west, and for some, may feel more "rural" than the 135th location. I feel that K-7 has more of a selection on items and has less of a crowd. What I do experience more at K-7 is employees that are overt with racism and discrimination. Previous Google reviews reflect this. "Mishawn, this is everywhere you go." This is true. However, some places are more overt than others. K-7 happens to be one of those places. My experience Friday solidifies this for me. The visit itself was not atypical. The kiddo and I went for a few dinner items and a phone case for a new phone. Which, is locked up and requires an associate to assist. Herein lies three gentlemen: a well seasoned salt and pepper employee, a middle-aged employee, and a rather tall employee. The three of them were aimlessly standing in the electronics section. I am confident they saw me and the kid walking around the minute selection of cases they had. One began to walk past when I politely asked for assistance. They were thrilled: especially Mr. Salt and Pepper, who rolled his eyes at me and began doom scrolling on his phone. Eew. Reluctantly, Mr. Height did help and I thanked him graciously. Salt and Pepper decided to find an area unrelated to electronics and began reorganizing an already well-organized shelf to avoid interacting with me. I too thanked him for his help and he was ever so appreciative....... The manager I spoke to was very apologetic, understanding, and promised to rectify the situation immediately. I'm hopeful she did, because what was telling for me was how quiet she became when I explained Mr. Salt and Pepper and where he worked. Is this going to stop me from going to this location. Probably not. I do feel it is important that people are aware of what is happening here at this particular store. 135th and Alden has more diversity among the staff, but they like to watch you a little too closely in the self-checkouts. For me, it's a "choose your fighter" situation. If I have to choose crowds or in-your-face racism, I'm going to choose the crowds every time. read more

I felt a little disrespected at the pick-up area. My dad ordered me grocery and I can't download apps at the moment. So I call the pick up and let them know that I'm a deaf person first thing, then I tell him my name and parking number. They had me wait 45 minutes until the third time I let somebody know I'm deaf and waiting for pick up. They act like I just got here. No I've been waiting!! read more

Had to get new tires. This Walmart had what I wanted and what I needed. The staff in the auto center was very polite and professional. They didn't have a TPMS sensor I needed replaced but told me they would order it and put it on for me without additional labor charge. You know, it's tough to be a "great" Walmart. The store is what the store is. But I will say this location is actually pretty terrific. It's got a large selection, which surprised me since we were in Paris, TX. I found the layout of the store a little confusing because it wasn't quite on pattern. But the staff were helpful when I asked questions. Nearly all of the checkout lines are self-service, which made getting our purchase complete and out the door very easy. read more

If you live near this Wal-Mart it's the closest place to get food and every day items. There seems to be some odd cut-off from the rest of Johnson County when you're west of K-7. Plenty of self-checkout with no lines, and they almost always have what you need in stock. read more

I usually write favorable reviews,as I rarely get upset at businesses.However,this Wamay is especially bad,even by their standards.I looked up a copier on line,saw that Wamay had it and since their is one a little over a mile away,I went down there.There were only 2 lines open,one run by "Turtle" and the other by "Cold Molasses".As I stand behind a bunch of people who can't comprehend basic shopping,I think " This is easy,what can possibly go wrong.After about 10-12 minutes,it's my turn.As she rings me up,I notice that I'm paying more than the ad says.I bring it to here attention and she tells me that I have to order it online and then pay for it at the pickup desk.As I look back at the other poor bastages,I'm like "Screw it" and I pay and leave .When I call the store manager,he tells me I can return it and the order it again.I think not.Cheap lesson in why not to shop with these fools. read more

The people that work in the grocery pick up area at this Walmart are beyond wonderful. Especially LeeAnn , Bobbie, and the young gentleman that works with them, (Sorry , I do not know his name). These people are gems in your company. Make sure you let them know how valued they are by their customers. Wal Mart should never carry fish. I was just at the fish wall and I am appalled by the conditions the fish are kept it. It is deplorable. Fish are literally rotting alive in the tanks, covered in fin and tail rot, ick, missing scales. The manager saw me taking pictures and asked what I was doing and I told him I was looking at how sick the fish were. His excuse is that they just came in like that. I call bs. I worked selling fish for a major pet store and none of the fish we ever received in a shipment was rotting, and If it was sick we quarantined it immediately in a hospital tank separate from the main fish supply to avoid having to treat thousands of fish with antibiotics or facing all of them dying. I was only able to get one picture this time, but I consider it a hobby to try to take down the pet fish market at Wal Mart. I will continue to take pictures of he dying and suffering fish to add to this review until I don't see unhealthy fish anymore. - - - - - update - - - - - People who do buy fish are told that they have to hold the fish above the security alarms when they walk out or they will be electrocuted. Wow...what kind of bro-NONscience is this? First of all, security beepers at stores that detect theft use Radio Frequencies or RFID. NEITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE THE SAME AS ELECRIC WAVES. They are radio waves. Second, radio waves CAN NOT and DO NOT kill. Even fish. If this frequency would kill a fish in a bag of water it would kill a fetus in a woman's womb. Think about it. I have actually witnessed multiple people who have been told this, and I also know a few people who have been told this. One of the people I know did not hold them above the alarm and the fish a just fine. only Walmart thinks this is a thing. I googled it and it's just a Walmart. They said they "figured it out" when a customer kept having fish die on him in a couple days. That was either the tank not being ready, overstocked, or the fish just being poor quality and sick like they often are here. It had nothing to do with the security alarms. Third, radio frequency are everywhere. Literally everywhere. That is how we get our radio stations to play on the radio. And RFID is used in remote controls, like the one for your TV...so those are everywhere too! So there, yet another reason WalMart has zero business selling fish. They don't understand basic science, let alone basc fish care. read more

Dogged on the Wally world up on SMPKY, only fair to give this newer one credit. No random carts flying around the parking lot, stuff was in stock, took less than 10 minutes to get my 2016 fishing license/joco parks & recs permit/trout stamp, and the employees were generally friendly. The only thing that I'm not a fan of in this store was it seemed darker for some reason. Other than that, way better than the one on SMPKY. read more

As a guy who is almost 60 years old (man, am I really that old?), anyway.. I have had the opportunity to have been in, shopped in, etc.. quite a few WalMarts over the last 20-30 years or so. I lived in Southern California for the last 10 years and those WalMarts are smaller, always dirty, can't keep shelves stocked, can't understand most of the people who work there (all over the place as far as ethnicities) and I basically try to avoid going in one, unless I really have to. So.. after moving back to Kansas in march, I came upon the Walmart on K7, which is about 3-4 miles from my home. Wow.. what a pleasant surprise.! Walked in the door with my wife on a monday afternoon, around 3:30 - and it was busy with people stocking shelves, cleaning floors, and being just "friendly". The shelves were stocked and orderly (didn't look like a weekend hurricane had gone thru it), the floors were clean, and the check out people were pleasant. Heck even the kid getting the carts out in the parking lot was helping a handicapped person with their groceries. Holy crap! So, to the people at Walmart on K-7 in Olathe, keep up the good work. Retail work is hard, no doubt. But my wife and I saw first hand, that you all are trying to make it a better shopping experience. read more

Grocery Pick-Up is wonderful! Ordered in the morning with an afternoon pick-up. Received notice when they were ready, pulled and they loaded everything quickly. It was perfect for a very busy week. They were out of 2 "Great Value" items I ordered so they upgraded to the name brand with no charge. Will use again! read more

I was extremely disappointed tonight. I had ordered an item that was pick-up only. I ordered the item yesterday and the first available time slot to pick up the item was tonight from 7-8 pm. I received the notification that my item was ready at 6:45 pm this evening. I drove to the store and called to check in that I had arrived at 7:13 pm. At 7:56 pm, an associate finally came out to tell me that the tower my item was in was broken down and they could not get my item this evening but would let me know tomorrow when it was fixed and my item was available. After waiting for more than 40 minutes, I was not pleased so I went inside to speak to customer service and inquire why it took more than 40 minutes to let me know. Their response was "Our tower is finicky." I understand the fact that it broke down is not their doing so I asked why it took more than 40 minutes though to let me know. The reply: "They are very backed up right now." Not the correct answer. I am not pleased and will only be returning to pick up my item as it is out of stock at all other stores that I have checked and on amazon. My complaints with this whole situation: 1) Very poor communication. Let your customers know if there is an issue or going to be a long delay. 2) The associates at customer service alluded the technical issues with the tower being 'finicky' has been an ongoing issue. Management needs to figure out a solution for this ongoing problem so it does not continue to inconvenience people. 3) Pick up is backed up... You have to schedule a pick up window so Walmart knows a) how many people are coming within an hour timeframe and b) how large the orders are ahead of time... So plan accordingly. Staff more people or provide fewer pick up slots within a timeframe to prevent the significant back ups. I have ordered and picked up from numerous stores and have not had to wait more than 10 minutes to pick up my order and I have always left with the items I had ordered. This Walmart's system is broken in multiple places and I would not suggest ordering or shopping from here. read more

Probably one of the most incompetent Walmarts that I have ever been to. My gf and I have waited 2 hours for a pickup that was supposed to be previously ready on 2 separate occasions. I was just here to try to give them one last attempt at making things better and I checked in with the app. And the people who come out to deliver your groceries don't even stop at cars that have just arrived to check them in like other Walmarts do very well. I had to stop one of them and the guy rolled his eyes as if I was inconveniencing him when I was just trying to make sure I was checked in. Come to find out, I wasn't. Go figure. I had tried calling the number afterwards and well, you guessed it. No one picked up and the voicemail was full. I hate writing bad reviews about places, but enough is enough. I don't recommend going here if you actually want to get anything done in the day. The staff has been terrible every time I come here and their systems seem completely confusing to them. I went through check out, the guy by the door watched the entire time as the cashier scanned all my items and even put them in the cart, I paid with the walmart app so my receipt is emailed to me so i didn't have a paper receipt. As I'm leaving I get called into work so I'm trying to answer and handle all that on my phone as I'm walking out of the store, the guy door greeter would not let me leave the store until i hung up my phone and pulled up the receipt on my phone. I told him I couldn't hang up this call until I'm finished and now I'm in a hurry because I need to get everything home and get ready for work, once again told me I can't leave until I show him the receipt and that it doesn't matter that he watched everything at the cashier. On top of other things with the store ill no longer be going here. read more
