Continuing our "little black dress" hunt, a friend and I finally stopped in at Ross. After being disappointed by the poor selection of several other stores, we hit the jackpot here. The place was fully stocked and ready for the Holiday season, which of course means parties, parties, and more parties to dress for! Easily had over 20 dresses to choose from and all at great prices too. Success! Found a dress and two little jackets (one ruffly, and one faux fur) to dress it up with for less than $50. I know, I sound like a commercial, but our "2nd choice" dress at a far pricier place wasn't even half as cute. Go Ross! read more

This place is pretty cool. My mom is a recent addict to their stores so we stopped by this one today. It seems to be a really new location. There is a good selection of items... not just clothes. Prices seem really decent. I see myself going here for unusual gifts that you don't see just anywhere. The store is neat and tidy, just remember to check the items for breakage/damage. Great bargains, store is fairly clean and organized. The one negative about this store: Never enough people here, especially cashiers. Went there last night, and we were in line for half an hour. One young man doing all the checkout, while another lady stood behind the counter and folded clothes the entire time we were waiting in line. When it was our turn to check out, we asked the cashier if he was the only one that could cashier, and he said yes. Said it was like that every night. For someone that was overwhelmed with a volume of work to do, this young man had a really good attitude about it. Wasn't complaining, kept a smile on his face. read more

So disappointed.My daughter gave me a metal gecko wall sculpture and part of it was glass. It got broke and I wanted to replace it. Went to a couple Ross stores but called this one and another to ask if they had them as driving to every location was looking dismal. Absolutely no way to get either location to check and see if any were in their home decor section...policy. I get it...but miss the old days where stores cared a little bit. This place is what it is. 4-stars for a cheap-clothing-buying. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of staff and the store was clean. The clothes aren't the best quality (of course) but shirts were $9ish and jeans were below $20. A lot of them come from the "rejects" of other department stores or their outlets. I bought some from New York and Co and there were some Target clothes thrown in. This store resembles a goodwill or thrift shop in that clothing is arranged by type and size on racks. There's no rhyme or reason to what you'll fine because, as previously stated, these are the clothes that didn't get sold in stores. If you like something but it's a size too big chances are, there is no other size of that same item in the store. Dealer's luck. Having said that, I had a pleasant experience. The store was clean, the dressing rooms were tidy and the dressing room attendant was helpful. The cashiers were friendly and quick and I left the store with 8 items for less than $100. I like this place. I'd heard great things about it from my friends in other states who regularly shop there. So I was eager to go check it out when this location opened. Yes it does seem small if you compare it to Marshalls. Each department could certainly be bigger, with a larger selection. However, I thought it was pretty good for what it had. I found several items from the home decor section, two pairs of cute shoes (Steve Madden and Coach) and a trendy pair of sunglasses (Jessica Simpson brand). I was thrilled with my finds and felt like I got a great deal. I didn't spend much time in the clothing department. I didn't want to spend time hunting, wasn't in the mood. It's some what organized, but you really gotta look through it. It might be good if you were after one item and could spend the time. If you're looking in general, it wasn't very appealing to me since it's just long racks of clothes. Nothing really stands out. The service here was very friendly and the store was clean. I'll certainly be back again looking for good deals. read more

I'm a bit disappointed with the Ross stores here in Kansas City. I know they are 'bare bones', but should they make TJMaxx or Marshalls look upscale? While even those two have fallen off some, this place is not at all impressive, except the cashier was very sweet and friendly. There are plenty of junior/misses sized clothes, but very disappointed in the choice of plus sized clothes. The quality of much of the clothes is even lower than other discount stores (see-through tops, anyone? and not on purpose for provocative reasons). Oh well.....life will go on. :) read more

I've given Ross several chances to make good on their "dress for less" slogan but I continue to feel like their prices are not as equitable with other stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls and they have a poorer selection of items. I like to compare apples to apples when shopping at similar stores. Not only does Ross lack the selection of other discount clothing stores, the prices aren't comparable. The same Puma collared shirt priced at Ross for $21.00 is less at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I would almost be willing to wager that Ross gets their clothing from these other discount stores after they don't sell it the first, second, or third time around. Though I have only experienced it once in my three visits here, the customer service is lacking. Today I stopped here while waiting for another store to open nearby. We found a cheaply priced kids' outfit and took it up to the register. No one was in line and we stood there holding the item waiting for a sales person to call us to their register. One employee made eye contact, smiled, then walked away to price perfumes about 15 feet away. It wasn't worth the savings on a $6.00 onesie. We put it on a nearby rack and walked out after standing at the front of the line for nearly 2 minutes. A little disappointing and hopefully not indicative of their overall goal as salespeople. I won't rush back here but will try the other location closer to home when it opens later this summer. Hopefully the newer location will have a better grasp of both inventory and customer service. read more

There are 14 people in line 20 days before Christmas and there is only one cashier. No manager or any other qualified person has stepped in to help get customers through the line. When I asked an employee she said, that's just how it is, people have complained to corporate but corporate won't pay for a second cashier. Everyone in line is frustrated. read more

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. I have been to this store about 5 times. Once before the holidays and I failed to notice the hour long line, seriously. I chalked it up to the holiday season and my stupidity for not noticing.... fast forward a month later. I have returns that I have tried to return 4 times. Each time I come to the store at different days and times of the week there is always a huge line and only 1 register open. Why should I wait 30 min to an hour to return or purchase anything. Very clean store with very reasonable prices. Bathrooms are well kept. Not a lot of employees but they all seem very friendly. It's comparable to a TJ Maxx or Marshall's price and product-wise but more like a thrift shop organizational-wise. They are organized in long rows of racks by side and type of clothing. I went into Ross in Olathe, Kansas tonight around 6pm. Found a couple of things for my granddaughter and was standing in line. There were maybe eight of us in line (grumbling amongst ourselves about there only being one register open), one cashier and what looked like a manager helping the cashier with an issue. The lady at the register had been there for a while already. No other registers open although there was another employee digging around the desk and others on the floor. A gentleman got in line behind me with his wife and made comments about opening another register that the employees could hear. "Come on, ladies. Open another register" and let us get through the line. The cashier looked straight at him and said, "You can go to another store, sir!" Not a very nice tone of voice, either. So I put my stuff down and said, "I'll go to another store and I'll make sure to let your manager know that you don't want my business." The gentleman and his wife also left the store. I think one other person walked out of line with us and left the store. read more

I would like to give my review on Ross, the prices is great but the clothing racks are always over stuff like a thrift store you have to search but you can't move stuff cause it's to full. Then there's the issue of clothing on the floor and I know it's not the stores fault but customers please you can pick things up to help the store out. My biggest complaint is you have employees still stuffing racks or organizing shelves but (1) CASHIER and a hell of a long line, what gives? Your manager should be up there helping or getting some other peeps to help geez it doesn't take a wizard to check people out. read more

This Ross is a hit or miss. Sometimes I go in and buy almost everything in the store because they have good stuff for a good price. Other times it's almost like I am shopping at a thrift store, where there are stains on the clothes or the stuff just really isn't that cute. Not necessarily the store's fault because they just stock whatever they get. The part that bugs me is the customer service. Look I worked in retail, so I get it. There are days that suck and where you really don't want to deal with customers. Totally feel them, but it is just every single time. I have never been greeted, acknowledged, or been treated like a decent human being there. The only time they pay attention to me is when I go to the dressing room and they act like everyone is about to steal stuff. Calm down. The cashier didn't even pay attention to me. He was talking to a coworker and they glanced over and went back to their conversation. So I went up to the counter and set my stuff down. Still didn't help me. I literally had to ask if I could pay for the items and the cashier made it seem like it was such an inconvenience for him. He literally was shoving my things in bags and then put my receipt on the counter and walked back to his coworker. Really not impressed. If you need a dress, come by. Same as the person 24 hours ago. 20 people in line 1 cashier. This time the manager does show up and asks for the next person in line and tells us all we need to take our clothes off hangers to speed up the line. I get that, but the reason we've all been standing has nothing to do with our clothes still being on hangers or the one cashiers ability. It has to do with you leaving her up there alone. Not once did she apologize or acknowledge our wait. Her name is Nicole and if she's the main manager, it's no wonder they don't have employees because she could take some lessons in being civil and polite. read more

The selection at this Ross compared to others I have been to is just okay. I think this one has a great jewelry selection. The employees have been friendly except for one time I came in with a return. I bought a shower curtain and put it up and didn't like the way it looked. It was in this tight little cardboard packaging so I had to tear the cardboard to open it. They had me wait in line until all the other customers were rung up.. This includes people who came and got in line after me. When it was finally my turn the brunette girl at the customer service lane says "wow you really tore that package up". She then goes on and doesn't apologize that I had to wait in line for ten minutes. I left with a pretty bad taste in my mouth. read more

000 STARS. This is one of the worst clothing stores we've been to. Not only is the selection small and 70's styles but the dressing room was HORRIBLE. The employee we ran into while trying to try clothes on made me feel like we were theives and in grade school.
