The head of security aggressively confronted my 11 year old daughter and myself upon entering the store . He did not identify himself and was not wearing a Walmart name tag or any Walmart clothing. He looked like a crazed displaced and unhoused person !!! He was angry that we bought a legitmite grocery shopping bag into the store, it was a carry bag. He spoke angrily and aggressively to us and told us to take the bag out of "his" store and put it back in out car. I returned home and looked at the Walmart website which stated ( in highlight ) that Walmart encourages its customers to "bring their own reusable bags ! The treatment we received from Walmart that day was disgraceful and we had just entered the store having done nothing wrong ! A security employee later informed us that we had been confronted by the security manager and that the security manager was bipolor. The security manager had probably confronted us during one of hie bipolor episodes. My daughter was certainly scared and afraid for her safety during this bizarre attack ! read more

Silver City Walmart has to be the most horrible store in the chain. You buy your groceries and wait in long lines to check out. The associates wait at the exit door looking at you like you stole something. Forget buying a gift for a party, they never have anything decent to buy. The garden center always locks their gate, flowers suck and mor unfriendly associates. . read more

Visited in January. Sunday 10AM. NO registers open. Forced to self-check-out. No plastic or paper bags. When I scanned the first item, it said "System Unavailable". ( ! ). I had to have it reset. I decided to speak to the manager. One of the employees hanging around NEXT to the registers said I had to go to Customer Service. No one at Customer Service. Jump ahead to March 2023, Thursday 11AM. The store is pretty crowded. 2 registers open out of 17. Customers backed up into the clothing department. I had to use self-check-out again or risk melted frozen food. Also a waiting line at self-check-out. At least 10 employees hanging around in front of the registers talking. Maybe train them as cashiers (?). read more

The last time I visited walmart it was a zoo with 10 people in checkout lines waiting like sheep! I will definitely NOT be back to this store. There are several grocery stores in town. Staff can be rude or useless especially the self-checkout. Evidently the customer service department has been eliminated. NEVER AGAIN! read more

This Walmart seems to hire exclusively from the special education programs. The only store I've ever known that runs out of bags on a regular basis. Bags... at a grocery store... I went through the self-checkout and was adamantly informed that they had no bags. So I walked over one of the regular, closed checkout aisles and grabbed a whole bunch of bags and started handing them out to people in the self-checkout section never getting an answer to why the lazy, worker taking care of the self checkout section wouldn't go grab bags herself. And always, always bring your own bags to this abomination of a shopping center. Started checking receipts at the door but the troglodytic, people waiting there don't look at your bags or your cart at all. They just Mumble incoherently and then scan your receipt deming you on. Of course they do it in a very slow manner so there can be a line of 10 or more carts waiting to have their receipts scanned for absolutely no reason. read more

This is the best Walmart I have ever shopped. We travel several months of the year in an RV going across the country, so we have a lot of stores for comparison. The aisles are much wider than average, the store was clean as was the bathroom and parking lot but the amazing part was the employees! The 2 young girls in cosmetics initiated an offer of help & went out of their way to try and find a product for me. Very helpful. Then an employee was guarding a spill in frozen foods until housekeeping got there to clean it. He noticed us looking for something and helped us find a similar product. Before we left, he called out to us that he had found the one we had been wanting. I was amazed at such personalized service. Silver City is lucky to have such a well managed store. read more

This Walmart is very popular and crowded mostly because of their prices. The staff has a lot of diversity and most of them have a good sense of humor. In spite of hundreds people hour, they will most likely remember you. That's a small town for you. But then maybe friendly, talkative customers stick on their minds. That said, comes time for feedback, NOBODY questions the giant octopus with it's tentacles wrapped around every neck and mouth. Mention a problem and suddenly everyone is mute. And my problem is the skunky beer the beverage distributor unloads on them. Complete with cockroach dung on top of the beer cans, and probably insecticides as well. And absolutely nobody will touch the problem. And you think they would care...but speak nothing, hear nothing, say nothing about the giant octopi. read more

This place has certainly changed for the better! I've seen major improvements since my initial review, from better employees to obvious effort in keeping the store running smoothly. They're still out of a lot of things, sometimes completely out with a sticker that states as such, and dates on items are not always good, but I'm hoping all that will improve over time, as well. Their moldy-tasting 4-pack bakery muffins are a huge problem, yuck. Now, if only less jerks would shop there... read more

Come on management, get it together!!! The people that work here are great....except whoever manages fails to keep customer service desk efficient. When there are over 20 people in line, YES you need to have more than 2 people working there!!! And yes there are more than enough employees to do this!!!!! read more

I live in Silver City now, and with all sincerity say that it is a necessity to have to do some shopping here; however, each time I muster up the courage to go, I do so with utmost dread. Why? The place is a zoo...no matter what time of the day, it's always crowded, and hard to find even a handicap parking which is needful for me. Other than that, the store itself isn't bad...except you can expect to have to deal with stockers constantly replacing what the swarm of locusts left bare. And on a Sunday evening, you're apt to find a lot of empty shelves. I do wish there were another Walmart store here to accommodate the obvious need. Yes, of course they do have the outside pick up available now....but they still need another store. read more

The Wal-Mart Super-center here is basically the place to be for many residents of Silver City and residents of several of the smaller out lying communities that do not have stores of any kind. Nothing fancy, but it does have stuff at reasonable prices and it is centrally located!! read more

Possibly the best Walmart I've ever been to, which isn't saying I love Walmart, but on a Sunday evening this place was nearly abandoned. I've never had an experience where I just went up and down aisles without banging into people. There was no waiting in line, for either self-check or the regular lines. I'm sure it gets busy, but it was wonderful. Clean, large, fully stocked with camping things, and lots of groceries and free sample people handing out food. They have beer. All of it. It has serviced me well. The fire wood I bought did not burn well- it was awful! It just smoked. But that's my only real complaint. read more

Woo Hoo, another review of Wal-Mart Supercenter. Well, much like the one in Kingsville Texas, Wal-Mart Supercenter is the 'it' place since there's no mall whatsoever in this little town. I am not a fan of Walmart but I will say this Walmart really was an experience. While shopping for camp supplies, the lights went out. I looked around and everyone including the employees were going about their business. At the meat counter I asked an employee if there was an issue with the lights. The employee ex[plained that this particular store saves energy by turning off grid lights when the sunshine coming through the large skylights provides adequate light. He was very proud of this fact. Kudos to Walmart. This store also has recyclable heavy bags. These bags are amazing and recyclable Kudos again to Walmart. read more

Writing this review for Walmart Auto Center in Silver City, NM. On 7/3/19 my Lincoln Navigator was due for an oil change. I checked in at opening time and the mechanic said that it would be done in about 25 minutes. I returned in the alotted time to find out that it could not be done, due to a cross threaded oil pan drain plug installed at my last oil change, at the same Walmart; done by a mechanic that is no longer employed there. The mechanic, on 7/3/19, said he would not remove it unless a department manager was present, and the manager was gone that particular day. Due to a family emergency, the manager was gone for several days. I returned on 7/9/19 and told the mechanic, that I had been talking to, that I really needed to get my oil changed. Yet again, he told me that the manager was still not there, and needed to be present because of the drain plug issue. There was another mechanic, named Antonio, that was listening to conversation. He stepped up and said that he would do the oil change himself, because he knew that I had returned several times. He stated that he would do it without a manager present. I am giving two thumbs up to Antonio for stepping up and resolving the situation. I know that his years of experience is why he had no problem removing the drain plug and making a decision for a quick plug replacement. Thank you again Antonio for your great service! This is the cheapest place to buy stuff in our town. Aside from that it stinks! The workers are not friendly, and sometimes treat you like you are a bother, even though you've never seen them before. The younger they are the worse their attitude gets. (college age are especially rude, even talking to friends while "helping" you.) Don't get to used to buying a certain item, because if it's popular you won't find it easily (always out of stock) Then Wal-Mart will stop ordering it forcing you to buy whatever IS offered. This is probably he worst Wal-Mart in America. Out of stock, product on wrong shelves, missing or wrong price tags, employees that do not speak English. No towels in the restrooms or wipes for the carts. Broken carts for the handicapped that do not work. Carts on the street and all over town, I guess someone is too lazy to go round them up and bring them back. This store is the poster child for how to not run a Wal-Mart. I have had to wait at a check out station till the cashier got off her cell phone. It seems that every employee has a cell phone to visit on. There is never someone around to help you if you need help The employees spend a lot of time visiting with each other (generally in Spanish) and their friends that are in the store. Wal-Mart changes managers regularly but can not seem to find anyone that is competent to manage this store. This store is not a Super-Center. If I could give less than 1 star I would. read more

Worst Walmart I have ever entered...Many of the employees are rude/surly and if you ask for help they act annoyed. I have had them make snide remarks etc...How they keep their job is puzzling. Just want to say, I dropped a hundred dollar bill out of my wallet without realizing it. And yes it was turned in and it was returned to me. It says a lot for the town and the management and employees. I don't like to shop big box stores but this one has some stellar employees. Friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and willing to go out of their way to help. Amazing young man in Paint department as well as in the Electronics department, another in housewares and remarkable management, who are so very competent when something extraordinary is required. ex: was having trouble getting something ordered online, after each department head in electronics, pickup, and housewares working steadfastly (but unsuccessfully) to get it ordered, one of the managers knew an exact "work-around" way to do it. I dread going in a huge store like Walmart, but if you have to go.. this is a great experience. Great sales and plenty of stock. read more

You have got to be kidding! try depending on the local Wally-world for, oh - toilet paper, chicken feed, coffee filters. There are so many things out of stock, not stocked, don't know when it'll be in, we've ordered it every week for the last two months and it's still not in. Where is ____? Workers don't know. Better ask another customer. Saturday morning - one register open, but at least (usually) there's an attendant at the self registers. Best thing to happen to Silver City is Ace, Tractor Supply, and Albertsons.. At least you can count on them to have what you need. WalMart? it's a crapshoot. read more

Walmart gets an A for me. Every time I go there I am never disappointed, I'm here in Silver City because I go to school at Western New Mexico University. Whenever I need something, I go to Walmart. Whether it's food, clothes, school, or gaming items, it doesn't matter I go to Walmart. Walmart is quick and easy and everything is at a reasonable price. They even have a Subway there, the only Subway in Silver City. Walmart is Silver City's mall because it's such a small town. Walmart provides you with everything you need.
