[58/100] Do not let…read morethe name fool you, not all products is a dollar. I was looking all over Fort Smith for a postcard and a gas station clerk suggested this place. No postcards, but I did get a flag that said Arkansas on it. I think it was a flag of the University of Arkansas. It was the only thing that had Arkansas on it that I could find and it wasn't a $1. They had one travel size toothpaste left on the shelf for a $1 that I also bought. Pros: - They sold something that kind of met what I was looking for. - Large parking lot - Sells a variety of products and snacks. - They do cash back - They have locations in different states. Cons: - Not a dollar store - Grocery store prices Overall, this place had something I needed so I appreciate that. I may not come across another Dollar General Store but if I was, I'd probably check it out again.

In March of 2022 I was hired by Dollar General in Ft. Smith, Ar. I filled out the application,…read morespoke to the manager and was told it would take a couple days to get approved. I was not kept up to date on the status of my application. I heard nothing about it for an entire week and then got a text at 5:30 a.m. to come in the same morning at 9:00. Sorry, no, I didn't even get the text till 11:00 a.m. and let her know I'd have to come in the next day for the six hours of videos. I did that and didn't receive any information on anything. Not when I would start, not when I'd be trained on the register, not my first day at work...not information at all. She didn't even tell me about the uniforms and how you have to provide your own but got made because didn't have a shirt. She had never told me that I had to buy my own. I had to ask one of the employees about the uniform shirt and that is when I found the information I needed but yet she couldn't tell me about the uniform and then started sending out texts complaining about people that weren't wearing the uniform shirt. The very next day, someone called in and in turn, the assistant called me and was demanding I go in and acting as if I didn't have a choice. Well, I let her know I did. I had plans that couldn't be broken. She continued to push and demand and I just said, no, I can't come in and I wasn't evenn trained on the register yet, so for me to take someone's place without being trained, I wonder what they were going to have me doing as you have to be able to run the register. Well, here comes Saturday, and they finally put me on the schedule. Well, I figured out how I was going to take someone's place without being trained. Let me tell you, I got there and the assistant showed me about four buttons and then just disappear in the store. She was all over the place with no reguard to me. This was my first day. This is how they train you at Dollar General. These people were determined I was going to push that heavy commercial mop across the store. Well, that wouldn't have been a problem, except for the fact that I'm disabled. I knew it would cause me a physical problem if I did, but I did do it and it felt as if I were about to have a heartattack. I made the decision at that time that I would not put myself at risk since they had many young healthy people that could mop the floor. They determined to make me do it; however, one evening, at work, I notice a big nasty area in front of the door where they usually put all the trash at night. I did not mop anything and made a note to look at the area, five days later when I went back to work noticing that it was all fired important for me to mop the floor, but noone else. This was apparent, since the mess was still there. They didn't enough about it to clean it themselves. I guess that was going to be a job for me. Speaking of the condition of the store; one evening I had about 60 free seconds to walk the store, discover trash and boxes covering the whole place. The entire store was trashed and they were trying to blame the customers. I knew it wasn't the customers as Ihad seen them throwing the boxes and trash on the floor as they stocked. Disgusting. On several occasions, the customers would come to the register and complain about the condition of the store. It was so bad, it looked as if looters had been in the store. It was actually two weeks about I started, before I saw someone actually pick up a broom and sweep the store. I started cleaning up behind the register for the simple fact that I hate dirty places and refuse to work in a pile of trash...it didn't seem to bother anyone else, though. A friend of mine, when she found out which store I was going to be working at, stated that she refuses to go into that store because of the filthy condition. The manager had the actual nerve to send out a photo to everyone showing a properly recovered aisle. O.K., that's nice, but if you know that, then why don't you do this throughout the store and making the shopping experience more enjoyable for the customer. Since I had started I had received a photo of the schedule, every week, so I assume that this was how we got our schedules, not hearing anything different and not being given any information on it. One Friday, I hadn't received the schedule so I asked the assistant and her response was, "Everybody's scheduled stayed the same except for one employee that had absorbed another person's house, because one of the keyholders had quit. I had been scheduled Tuesday and Friday of that week, so it would sense that Tuesday & Friday would be repeated according to the assistant. Instead of informing me that the schedule was hanging up in the breakroom, she out and out lied to me. That wasn't true and she caused me to miss a shift. I only know this, because Monday I had texted the manager to ask her a question, and this is when I was informed that I had missed a shift. Full Story FB Ann Meyers. Wearing a green and white shirt
