I played the Country Club of Halifax with a friend this weekend. Overall, the course was in fine…read moreshape. However: Pace of play was terribly SLOW. One the 10 hole, the group in front of ADDED PLAYERS and split into two groups. The much slower playing four wives in front of the foursome of men. No rangers on the course. Zero oversight. Beer cart is CASH ONLY. Evidently, the owner is a clueless guy that inherited the golf course. He separated the restaurant from the club as running a restaurant proved too difficult for him. Neither my friend or I were carrying cash. No cold beverages for us. Again, the course is terrific. But the management, or lack of, is really killing the place. The owner should sell to someone that knows how to run a course. Too many second generation business owners are spoiled kids that don't have a work ethic. This seems like one of those places.

This 5k has an awesome path around Merrymount park and onto Quincy Shore Drive…read more It is mostly flat and well partitioned off from traffic with heavy cop details. I would know because I was the last runner with only a handful of walkers a mile behind me so I had a cop car following me at 4.5 mph for the last 2.1 miles. It was like being slow motion chased by the police. It POURED out this year so there were very few participants and mostly just the hardcore runners but they had a full on meal with sandwiches and cookies and drinks waiting at the end as well as entertainment under a pavilion in the park. Nicely run and for a great cause. I will definitely do this one again next year. (hopefully so will other really slow runners =) )

Ultimately our 6 man 3v3 18 hole scramble cost over $1000 taking up one golfing bay. Following that, the employees demanded a larger tip. Excellent festival/celebration every year they have in Boston. I've gone on my own to watch the…read moreparade and I've gone for the past few years with my work to walk in the parade. It's an excellent time and I think it's great to support equality for everyone. They have a weeklong of events that happen all over Boston. You can google the calendar of events. They usually start putting out the plans for all the events a month or two ahead of time. I love being able to show my support for all people no matter their sexual orientation.

It's Gala time!!!!!!…read more I have been a gala fan since I was a student member of NABA. So of course I found it absolutely mandatory to fly back to Boston for the 30th Anniversary celebration. It's been a few years since I have been, but from what I've heard about the past few years, this has been the best one in a while. I loved that everyone came DRESSED TO IMPRESS! Everyone stepped up their games this year (as they should). Still a few people who don't thought they were going to club night at Slades (lol), but overall I was delighted to see the masses of beautiful outfits. Originally I was told that there would be no food, so we arrived a bit on the later side. However a buffet was served, but from what I heard, we didn't miss much. No matter what your music preference, there was a room for that ... If you like Jazz, the main ballroom had a band playing. If you like hip hop, there was a small, yet VERY HOT room playing the latest music, and there was a reggae room for us reggae heads. Vendors were out selling there goods. I get it, but the last thing I wanted was to walk around carrying bags. So I didn't by anything, but there were some really cute pieces. All in all great night. It's like big Boston family reunion. It was nice to catch up with everyone. Good event. Can't wait until next year.
