We now know that they design hardscapes too, but I didn't find them until we started thinking about adding plants to the front of our house. We had just put in new front steps, a walkway, and retaining wall planters, so the space was pretty bare and lacking any life. I knew it would be a daunting task to research enough plants to cover the 300+ square feet of space, and not only find plants that would meet our needs (partial shade, deer resistant, low maintenance, etc.), but also figure out how to appropriately and attractively arrange them. The husband and I are (sometimes) do-it-yourselfers, and really liked the idea of the two hour consultation John offers. I did a fair amount of research and didn't find any other comparable service locally. The price was right, and we knew it would give us the flexibility to decide afterward if we wanted to have the work done or tackle the project ourselves. We were pretty impressed with all that the consultation included. John sat with us to go through his extensive database of plants, which includes not only the botanical information, but also pictures of the plants as they change through the seasons. The design was completely customized to meet all our needs and preferences, and we were included in choosing each plant variety and gave input on placement. John was extremely knowledgeable and professional, answered every question we had, and wrapped up the consultation appointment by taking measurements before marking the area with flags to indicate plant locations. We were also provided a comprehensive list of all the plants we'd chosen, again including the botanical info and photos, and emailed tips for planting if we wanted to do it ourselves. We asked for a quote to potentially have John do the work for us. There was a brief moment of sticker shock, but we quickly realized that the prices were market value, and it was well worth the cost to spare ourselves the tasks of sourcing, transporting, and of course planting everything. Not to mention the HOURS of research his consultation had already saved us. Side note: I also really appreciated the transparency of the quote. It listed the individual cost of each plant/ tree/ shrub and all materials, so it was clear where our money was going and how the price might be affected if we made changes to the plan. So, we sent the deposit and John was back to do the work about a week later. The project was wonderfully executed, and we really couldn't be happier. He again answered all our questions and gave us helpful advice for maintenance. He even came back the next day to put down grass seed, as it was unavoidable for him to walk through our previously seeded post-construction dirt while he was working. So, we are big fans. We might even invite Land Design, Inc. back next year when we tackle the backyard...

We wanted a large back patio and fire pit living space for our home. We met with Parker Crossley…read moreof Grasshopper Gardens for the estimate. He listened carefully to what we had to say. He asked appropriate probing questions to help clarify what we were talking about and thought. Offered other options and considerations as we chatted. Not once did he "sell" us on anything. Instead, he was more like a guide that offered things to consider to ensure our final decision would be an educated one that fit what we really wanted. Unlike the estimate we got from a competitor, Parker provided us concept drawings that we could visualize and ensure the estimate was true to what we wanted. The estimate was detailed and helped us understand what each of the features contributed to the overall cost. Grasshopper's estimate was comparable in cost for the basic patio features but the value-added actions of concept drawings and "teaming" with us really made the choice easy to go with Grasshopper. Due to the pandemic, Grasshopper could only have one person on the job site so the half week job took 9 days instead. We were blessed and fortunate to have had Shannon (Project Team Lead/Supervisor) assigned to do our project. He was consistently careful to discuss all significant details with us before doing the work stages to ensure what he created fit with what we hoped to achieve. He provided decades of experience that did result in us changing the pit location and adjusting a few other details without affecting the cost of the project, such as a change in the border that Shannon felt would "really make the colors of the stone 'pop'." The result was a layout and "flow" that surpassed anything that we had previously thought possible or even had imagined. It was amazing to see what just one person could accomplish in such a short period encompassing over 600 sq. ft. of stonework, boulders, cottage walls and firepit - all perfectly landscaped together. After the work was completed, Parker met with us to ensure the work was completed to Grasshopper Gardens standards and that there were no outstanding problems or concerns on our part. It was very professional how Grasshopper only billed us for the balance due for the project only after we confirmed how happy we were with everything. We would be remiss if we did not mention the customer service aspect of Grasshopper Gardens. Everyone that we dealt with (in person and on the phone) and all communications, conversations and contacts with Grasshopper Gardens have been pleasant, professional and very accommodating. Not once did we wait even a full workday before someone responded back to us either by phone or E-mail. The finished project was everything that we wanted and we are so happy with it. When we have another outdoor project to do - we will definitely be contacting Grasshopper Gardens.
