I went a while back to see dr. Thomas about a frozen shoulder that he identified Right away. He explained very well what it was and the healing process. I was impressed. Went again today to see dr. Thomas about a lump I have on my shoulder blade. I was nervous because the word lump always makes me feel like I will have the worst outcome. He told me that it was a benign fatty tissue... I was happily surprised as I had worked myself up to think it was something serious. I talked to him about that and hopefully he didn't think it was second-guessing his opinion. Because I was not. As fate would have it , Sunday March 6 2016 was one of the worst days of my life when I , a runner, hiker, pilates studio owner and yogi fell on my patella in just the right way to fracture it. Reason and determination prevailed and with the expertise of Dr. Walter Thomas , ( Loma Linda University Medical School , UCSD , Orthopedic consultant to USA Water Polo team etc ) and his pro team of assistants, I was quickly diagnosed and fitted with the dreaded but necessary DonJoy knee immobilizer that in spite of its critical therapeutic nature was to become the symbol of my physical and mental incarceration . No one wants to be faced with an orthopedic injury but life happens . Fortunately a lifetime of fitness and clean living helped me to heal my fracture in under five weeks but I owe the excellent care and support I received to the courteous , highly skilled and attentive hands of Dr. Walter Thomas and his reliable team. I'm already visualizing the imminent return of my essential early morning run .Thank you for the positive , professional and supportive care I received in what was an extremely traumatic moment in my already turbulent life. Torn meniscus. After seeing another doctor who just wanted to shoot cortisone, I went to Dr. Thomas. I knew immediately - I'm sticking with him. Reviewed the MRI in detail; gave me options and also what he recommended. Point being - he took the time to explain with patience and answer my numerous questions. "The Best of the Best" I am somewhat new to the area and needed a Doctor for my wrist. I called the office of Doctor Thomas and the receptionist was polite and most accommodating. When you meet with Dr. Thomas he is most personable and as importantly knew very quickly what I had, and also that his services would not be my best option. The doctor is so professional and his staff is meticulous. He injected my knee for me with hyaluronic acid, and he has another option as well. Started doing double unders again cause I'm addicted to Crossfit. So happy he was referred to me from the four Seasons Hotel. So pleased. read more

I had a massive rotator cuff tear and found Dr Thomas through friends that had used him recently. Based on the reviews from my friends and during the consultation I got the distinct feeling that Dr Thomas was very competent and cared about my surgery and outcome. The surgery was flawless and I actually have had NO pain since day 1 even without medication. It's been 10 weeks now since surgery and still no pain except in physical therapy when they are stretching my shoulder to the limits. Dr Thomas was very concerned about my range of motion after surgery so he had the therapist work hard on me but the results have been great. I really appreciate his concern and follow up. Visits with him are quick and to the point and the results speak for themselves. Dr. Thomas was nice and friendly when he looked at my leg injury. Then he recommended a special boot. The boot wrapped around the injury spot. It was tight and uncomfortable. I hesitated to take the boot. But nurse and doctor insisted it was good for me. I agreed to try. It is a bad decision. The linen of boot kept the injury spot hot which aggravated the swelling. It was bulky and hard to walk. It also made driving impossible. I found out the problems right after I left the office. But office did not take it back. I put away the boot when I got home. They charged $400+ for the boot. Watch out what equipment they offer you and ask for price. read more

I woke Sunday morning with severe shoulder pain and was miserable. I made an appointment with Dr. Thomas after reading all of the great Yelp reviews (not the best way to choose a surgeon but desperate times....). His office staff was wonderful & friendly. As a business manager, I appreciate that they are using current technology and going paperless! Scanning papers instead of antiquated filing cabinets. Dr. Thomas was very professional and has a warm, caring personality. After determining that my shoulder was structurally fine, we opted for cortisone injections to alleviate the pain. Dr. Thomas is an exceptionally gifted surgeon. I had my ACL Reconstruction done on October 2013 after I injured my knee while playing tennis. He explained to me very clearly about the procedure and made me feel comfortable. His knowledge, confidence and compassion always made me stay positive both before and after surgery. His association with top class physical therapists like Xcellerate Physical Therapy made my recovery smooth. Dr Thomas was direct & to the point regarding my broken scapula. He gave me an accurate assessment on day one what treatment and time frame was involved. Dr. Thomas was recommended to me by my neighbor, who is also a surgical nurse, for the pain I was experiencing in my knee. Upon an initial consultation with Dr. Thomas and an exam with further tests, it was confirmed that I had osteoarthritis in my knee. Dr. Thomas suggested a procedure called Platelet - Rich Plasma (PRP) that is completed in a series of three injections over a three week period. The procedure, itself, is a Godsend as the pain disappears. However, Dr. Thomas made it clear that the procedure would need to be repeated within a years time. Dr. Thomas is a highly competent physician whom I trust, he has a pleasant bedside manner with a calmness that is reassuring. He takes the time to answer all of my questions. His patients are high school athletes to those like me in my 60s. I highly recommend this outstanding doctor. read more

Dr Thomas was unable to correct an ongoing knee issue but is very professional and a quality surgeon.

As a former D1 football player from 1997-2002, I had seen some of the best doctors on the west coast. Nearly 15 years after playing, an old injury came back to haunt me and I was left with a newly severed LCL due to not having a PCL for so long. Needless to say, the surgery and recover were not going to be a walk in the park to repair both major ligaments. Beyond fixing my knee with impeccable skill, Dr Thomas was personable and friendly in a way that is rare to find in a doctor of any practice. Thankful isn't a big enough word to encapsulate how I feel less than 2 months after surgery.
