If you're looking for an orthopedic surgeon, look no further. Dr Vercillo is a miracle worker! I've had issues with my knee for the past few years, and finally built up the courage to have a total knee replacement. I had my surgery two weeks ago, and honestly, from the get-go, my knee felt better. Don't get me wrong, there was intense pain because of the knee replacement (which has subsided), but the normal pain that I felt even just from walking was gone. The physical therapist at the hospital had me up and walking within a few hours after my surgery and even climbing baby stairs. Every nurse in the hospital raved about Dr Vercillo and mentioned referring their friends and family to him when necessary. I went into the surgery, feeling confident that I had chosen the correct surgeon, but after hearing from the nurses, it made me even more thankful that I picked Dr Vercillo. Not only is Dr. Vercillo an amazing surgeon, but he has the best bedside manner. Even his staff is incredible. By the way, Tina was so patient with me (even though I called her multiple times Lol!) She really put me at ease before my surgery. One week ago I had a partial knee replacement surgery. The next day I was walking and only used the walker in the hospital. My recovery beats all my expectations. after a week I can walk perfectly and with only minor stiffness and much less pain than I had before the surgery. My son even commented that I got right up from my chair without hoisting myself up. I have been seeing Dr Vercillo for a year or so with pain in my knee. The injections he gave me worked for awhile but I was never pressured to go ahead and fix my knee. The entire staff in his office and the surgical team and the nurses at Rolling Oaks Hospital were friendly, attentive and professional. If one has to have surgery this is the place. I wish I could give ten stars!!!! I have been a patient of Dr. Vercillo for 7 years. From the first time meeting him I knew that I was in good hands. I had have a crazy 48 hours and I was so over seeing doctors. I had given up and was just done with the pain and what was going to have to happen. After that first appointment I knew that I was going to be well taken care of. Fast forward to 2021 with a pandemic still here. I had taken a fall after a workout and got a little bruised but thought nothing else of it till, I heard a sound. Called the office and they had an appointment that was the same day. Filling out the paper work was fun as I was right handed and the the wrist that hurt, lets just say it was a preschooler writing. Back in our room Dr. V came in and and looked at it he also had a x-ray done and then it was time for the cast. Some places have the nurse apply them well here Dr. V did mine, I was alittle nervous but he made sure I was safe. Hot pink cast with my thumb safe and sound as well. I was ready to go face the world with one and a half hand. I can say that my wrist already feels way better and I know that I will be able to get back to my normal super soon. fastest knee recovery and healing. The pain was very manage able and it didn't take long before I was doing physical therapy and was almost back to walking pain free. Hands down the best doctor I've had. He is a very knowledgeable, a skilled orthopedic surgeon and is meticulous about infection prevention, pre-op and post-op care. He has the best professional, bedside and office manner. He is friendly and personable. After having one total knee replacement, I opted for a total knee replacement of the other knee just 4 months later. I was totally prepared for both procedures and had outstanding outcomes. 6 months after the second knee I was on a month long vacation in Italy and Greece walking at least 5 miles per day with 1000's of stair steps. I agree with everyone's reviews of Dr Vercillo himself. He's amazing, gives great care and has a great bedside manner. If it were up to me, he'd have been the only Ortho I'd ever go to. Sadly, I'm apparently never allowed back in the office due to their "office policy". I had an unpaid bill of just under $200 I wasn't aware of. Never received notices, never got a call and apparently was sent to collections (never got those notices either). I would never purposely avoid paying a bill and when I recently called the office for some information and was informed of the situation, I immediately asked to take care of the unpaid balance. I was told to go to the collections agency and that I was not allowed to be seen again in the office. I asked to leave a message to get info on a previous treatment from the doctor... nope. After asking to speak with the office manager I finally got someone who was at least a partially understanding human being and offered me what little help she could... but I am honestly appalled by this policy. Especially by a medical provider whose whole life's work is to provide care. Being banned from future treatment over $200, a balance that I didn't know existed because no one in the office ever bothered to pick up the phone and call the patient personally? It's just sad that there is literally no personal element any more... it's just all business and bottom line. As a business owner myself, this type of policy would ensure I never got repeat business... I guess being a doctor means always having a steady flow of people in need. Very disappointed... mostly that I'll never be able to see a doctor I loved (and had referred a TON of people to over the years). read more

On day seven, I was walking with only one crutch and today on Day 10, I walked about a half of a mile without anything. My range of motion is awesome, extension at zero degrees and flexion is at 110 degrees. I am 59 years old and wondered if I should wait to get my new knee, but I can already tell that I have absolutely no knee pain whatsoever. That is not to say, that I don't have pain, but it is normal surgery pain that is getting better every day. I love my new knee already and named him M.V. I saw Dr. Vercillo several times a few years ago for a persisting knee issue that never entirely resolved. The issue flared over the holidays, causing me extreme pain and significantly limiting by ability to walk any distance. Unfortunately the assigned parking at my place of business is far from my office, so I called Dr. Vercillo's office yesterday morning shortly after they opened to request that Dr. Vercillo write me a doctor's note so I could procure temporary parking closer to my office until I'm able to take time off work to get in to his office for an appointment. On the call, the front desk asked for the details required for the note, then suggested I would receive the note by end of day. I called back at the end of the day to inquire, as I hadn't heard back from them, and was informed he would not be able to provide the note until end of day today (now two business days after my original request). I've just called back again, as I again did not hear back from the office, to inquire as to the status of the note. The front desk staff asked me to reiterate all of the information required for the note, indicating they had misplaced the request itself, then informed me they could have the note written by end of day on Monday of next week (now three full business days after my original request). In addition, they informed me they could only fax me the note, or I could go to the office and pick it up in person. Given I work nowhere near Dr. Vercillo's office, nor do I have access to a fax machine much like many people in 2020, I asked if they could either email or text a photo of the note to me when it was ready. I was informed this was impossible but that they would "try to figure out" an alternate way of getting it to me on Monday. I had a positive experience with Dr. Vercillo when he treated me, however this experience with the front desk staff has been incredibly negative and resulted in my having to walk great distances on an established injury for several days for seemingly no reason. Seeing Dr. Vercillo again would not be worth the hassle of working with the front desk staff. read more

I went to Dr. Vercillo for a torn meniscus. When I tore it the pain was crazy since it tore off and was stuck under my knee cap. His front desk girl Tina was so sympathetic and kind and got me right in for an appointment. They scheduled surgery right away and were seriously life savers getting me in to see the doctor, making sure I had meds and scheduling surgery quickly. I am 24 years old and had to undergo not one, but two invasive hip surgeries. Firstly, having hip surgery at any age is scary, let alone the mid-twenties. I don't even know where to begin with Dr. Vercillo's amazingness. Firstly, Dr. Vercillo is a great guy. Not only does he follow up with his patients personally, but he spends extra time at his office to ensure YOU are taken care of. Whether this means he has to come in on a Saturday (this actually did happen to me) or stay late on a holiday (this also did happen to me on Thanksgiving Eve to be exact), he is the man that will do this without hesitation. His charisma and knowledge are combined all in one, which makes you feel safe. Secondly, he does his research. My hip surgeries were completely different, though treating the same issue (hip dysplasia, bone spurs, labrum tears, and fluid in the joint). I had different damage in both hips, which required different procedures altogether. He not only verified his findings with other doctors in his field (to get a second and/or third opinion), but he did the correct pre-cursers to the surgery (MRIs, exrays, ultra sounds). He guided me through my decision to get the hip arthroscopy, which will ultimately prevent me from having both hips replaced later down the road. Not only was I his youngest patient for this procedure, but I was also the fastest to heal. (Thank God) Under his care I didn't even need to take the pain killers he prescribed to me post-surgery, I was walking without my crutches three days after the surgery, and back in the gym doing rehabilitation exercises four days after. Though I was advised to walk with my crutches for four weeks post-surgery, the thought of being able to to this, not swell, be able to touch my toes, tie my shoes, get up and down without issue, and not swell, was seriously the best thing I could have ever asked for. Dr. Vercillo is a calm, guiding doctor who really knows his stuff. His professional demeanor, his ability to show you he cares, and the success with his patients proves it all. If you are even on the fence about getting any orthopedic work done, please go meet with him for an initial consultation. I will never see any other doctor for orthopedic work as long as I live, and I will recommend him to everyone that needs assistance. He is by far the BEST doctor I've worked with in my entire life. read more

The best orthopedic surgeon ever. I came to him with shoulder pain with an unknown onset. He is a conservative doctor who tried everything possible before we discussed surgery. After an arthrogram MRI that showed nothing, oral steroids, anti-inflammatories, and injections, we went forward with the surgery. As a high anxiety patient, he made me feel like I was in good hands, and I was. The whole staff the day of surgery was amazing and comforting. Dr V even called that weekend to ask how I was doing. I am a 53 year old man who had to undergo quadruple ligament reconstruction using cadaver ligaments. My surgery was 12/21/2012. Due to the outstanding expertise of Dr. Vercillo I was walking without crutches 30 days later. I am now 5 months post surgery and I was given the green light by Dr. Vercillo to ski! That is to say with my knee brace. Naturally I have about a year to full recovery but let me say I doubt seriously I could have found a more qualified, professional than Dr. Vercillo. I value timeliness and efficiency a lot. This was great. I injured my shoulder in a fall and 3 months later it was still not healing. This was my first visit to Dr Vercillo on a PT referral. As a new patient I needed to fill out paperwork so I arrived 20 minutes early. I was called in by the staff about 5 minutes before my scheduled appt. Dr Vercillo came in within 5-7 minutes. He diagnosed a likely bruised rotator cuff. They took X-rays as a precaution against a break. Judy was very efficient. Done within 15 minutes. Dr offered a cortisone injection. Done in another 10 minutes. Rx for Physical therapy. Dr visit, X-ray, injection. All done within 40 minutes and back in my car. Awesome. I completely recommend. Smart. Efficient. Professional. I went in for a second opinion with a previously diagnosed torn meniscus that I was told needed surgery. Glad I did because Dr. Vercillo drained my knee, told me I didn't need surgery and I walked out of there feeling so much better. Excellent bedside manner, he took the time to discuss everything in detail. I saw him for a quick follow up a couple of weeks later and they did it at no charge. Dr. Vercillo is a good doctor....treated my son for a broken arm and all is great! Except for when it comes to the bill. He charged nearly twice what my insurance company would allow and stuck us with a huge bill. In all fairness, he did offer a 10% discount.....this is what he claims is "working with us" means. The orthopedist that has been putting me back together for 8 years had to retire, so I was on the hunt for a new one and didn't have much time to do it since I had a shoulder that had to be put back together again before the end of the year. My physical therapist said he knew of an excellent guy and had recommended Dr. Vercillo. I figured I trust my PT so I said what the heck. I had all of my reports from my PT and my previous surgeon sent over and my newest MRI. They squeezed me in even though he was totally booked I got put in as a final patient for the day, so for my evaluation appointment wait time was long, but after the appointment itself I was glad I had taken the time to wait. I was really close with my previous ortho and was really having a rough time at the thought of having to have someone new. Especially with this particular surgery. I'm really good at reading MRI's, x- rays and all of that (I've been put together a lot) but it was nice to see how Dr. Vercillo took the time to really go over everything with me. I already knew that I was up for surgery because of the injuries I had, and we came up with a game plan right then. I was in getting put back together 2 weeks later. Surgery day came and Dr. Vercillo came to see me pre op. He has got a great bedside manner. Even the nurses at the surgery center like him. Always a good sign. Lol Post op was the same. Big smile, told me about everything that had been done and how he had done it. Since there was more work done on my shoulder for this surgery than had been done 9 months before, he let me know what differences to expect this time around as far as recovery and so forth. I've seen Dr. Vercillo 3 times post op since, should have been twice, but I fell pretty bad 6 days out. Even then he took that extra step to make sure I hadn't torn anything out. Better to find out early so it can be fixed right away. Every time he has taken time to listen to any concerns I have. I think because it's not the first time I have gone in for surgery and this is the second time for the shoulder, I probably have more questions than ever. so I appreciate his patients. I'm 6 weeks post op now and doing great! He's not only an excellent surgeon, but he's also someone who makes you feel comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Vercillo corrected a rotator cuff, labrum tear, bicep tenodesis and performed complex knee surgery using a hamstring to help secure a kneecap and relocated the shin for further stability. A minor complication occurred about a week after shoulder surgery at the incision site but it was remedied. All surgeries healed well following Dr. Vercillo's recovery plan. Gotta say, the billing department lags but we wouldn't want anyone else working on these joints. Dr. Vercillo is professional, thorough and incredibly skilled. read more

Dr. Michael Vercillo is a top flight MD and surgeon specializing in extremities. He did an extensive redo of my right shoulder, including fixing and repositioning the bicep tendon, smoothing out the labrum, and using a unique micro-fracturing technique to eliminate a rough projection of bone on the head of the humerus that was responsible for the damage to the bicep in the first place. Except for a few painless clicks and pops on occasion, the shoulder is now fully functional and pain free. If I didn't know how hard he worked to get it right, I'd say it was a miraculous surgery. No miracle, just an excellent mechanic! Since then he has resolved a severe, persistent knee pain without surgery, as well as tackling a tear in my elbow. I no longer live near Thousand Oaks, but I'm willing to drive a long distance, past hundreds of orthopedic surgeons and top flight hospitals, just to seek out his opinion and benefit from his skills. I tried to see this doctor after reading the great reviews. But the first form presented to me was an arbitration agreement. I can't stress enough how one sided arbitration generally is in favor of doctors. The agreement was one sided towards the doctor too. Vercillo may be a great doctor but requiring you to sign a one-sided arbitration agreement should be a huge red flag for you. There are two other doctors in the office who don't require ARB agreements. I will post a review for the other doctor after the appointment. DON'T SIGN AN ARB AGREEMENT!!!! IT'S NOT WORTH IT. YOU LIMIT YOUR LEGAL REMEDIES IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. read more
