Walton's is a locally owned equivalent to Zaxby's, Guthrie's, Cane's, etc. Their main focus is on wings and chicken tenders, but they also have burgers and some home-cooked food. It's a fairly large restaurant as far as these types of places go. The interior wasn't spotless, but there are lots of tables available, and we found a clean one quickly. Service was a little distracted by the Bama game playing on the TVs, but our food came out very quickly. Chicken tenders were worthy of a 2 star rating, wings were a 4, so a 3 I suppose it must be. The wings were quite good. Although they were small, they were tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Sauce was nice and hot, which is good since we got the wings hot! Celery was very fresh. Ranch came in a Ken's ranch cup, so it's not house-made and was a touch on the salad dressing-y side. The chicken tenders just didn't have enough flavor. They seemed hand breaded, so that was good, but there didn't seem to be a ton of seasoning. I also didn't get any sauce with them. Apparently, they have the standard special sauce, but they either forgot to put it on my plate or I was supposed to ask. I assumed they just came with the sauce automatically (you're charged for extra), so I didn't. They really, really needed some sauce to spice them up. The toast wasn't buttery or crispy enough, and the coleslaw was too thick and mayo-laden for me. On the bright side, the fries were really good and crunchy! I might return to give the fingers another shot with their special sauce if my boyfriend really wants their wings, but I can't say I'm itching to go back. read more

Doing business down on Hwy 69 South in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this morning and went to Taco Casa but the drive thru line was so long so I left there. Was about to pass Walton's Chicken up and go home for lunch and noticed there was a very short line. So I drove in there and let me tell you. It took me longer to decide what I wanted to order than it took me to get my lunch. I placed my order for a 2 pc meal Chicken tender box that had fries, toast, chicken tenders, one sauce, and a drink for only $5.68 and that was the whole total. By the time I placed the order it only took 6 minutes to get my whole order. The order was hot, fresh and tasted great. I was greeted with a smile by Malorie who waited on me and the other ladies were all smiles and so polite. I was totally taken back by the best customer service from start to finish that I had gotten in a very long time. I made it a point to thank them and tell them I will be back. I drive all the way around the building one more time and parked under a tree to get in the shade and eat my lunch. Put down the windows and sat there, ate lunch, and watched how fast the customer service was. It was a work of art and if any of those people were treated like I was and their meals correct like mine then boy let me tell you that there are some happy customers out there tonight. The first time I went, I waited almost 30 minutes in the drive-thru lane, and there were only a couple of cars ahead of me. The food during this visit was good though. Enough to warrant a second visit. The second visit I waiting just as long, but the food was horrendous. The chicken fingers were dry and small, and the fries were soggy and were literally just a scrap portion (like they ran out and just filled the box with whatever that had left without cooking up a fresh batch). The toast was barely that--slightly toasted on one side, and looked like plain white bread on the other. And here's the kicker: they left out the sauce! I didn't have a complicated order. I didn't have a large order. I'm just trying to figure out how you take so long to fix one of your main dishes, then mess it up? They had time enough to check (and re-check) to make sure it was right. To say they are 1 for 2 is being generous. I want to love this place so much. It's sad that I cannot. Everytime I have eaten here (and I have eaten here way to many times over the years) my order has not been correct. The fries are undercooked and the chicken has been dry and seriously over salted. If you step outside of what's on the menu, it's going to be an issue. For instance, asking for extra fingers, no coleslaw, extra fries, or even extra sauces becomes a total confusion for them. I'm not even sure where the problem actually is either. I've been in and the cashier put the order in wrong, or it was correct and the cooks missed what was sent to them. I've even had the drive thru give me someone else's order. The reason I want to love it is because the kids working here are beyond sweet. They are trying so hard. You can tell for most of them, it's their first job. They always act polite and are so cheerful. They take the work so serious, which is weird that they never get my order correct. In a way it makes the whole experience funny. Unfortunately because of the food and them having never gotten an order correct, I cannot give more than three stars. 3/19/2021 I am required to wear a mask just to enter their building but the men preparing my food are not. I walked in to order a salad to go. I paid and was waiting for my order. Then I noticed not one but two men preparing my food did not have a mask on. No, they weren't just pulled down around their chin, they didn't have one at all on their face. To top that off, one of them sneezed and while he did sneeze into his elbow, he continued preparing food. I don't like wearing masks but I comply because it's the law. When I asked for a refund, I told the lady why. Her response to me was "I don't make the rules." Apparently she isn't enforcing them either. read more

Horrible service. After 20 years of eating at this restaurant I am done. They messed up one of my orders and we told them about it. After 25 minutes we had to remind them to remake our food. After everyone was done eating we finally got or 3 tender plate. The manager on duty said there was nothing she could do we would have to call the owner the next day. After talking the owner he told me there was nothing he could do. He was unbelievably rude and told me if I had a problem I could come up there and apply for a job and try to do better myself. Second time here. Very little wait to order. Food brought to table quickly and was fresh. I had the Sampler plate (2 grilled chicken fingers, 2 fried, 2 Mozzarella sticks, Texas toast & Fries). Fried fingers were good, grilled were pretty bland. Mozzarella sticks cooked just right. They only provide 1 sauce at no charge, which is typical for similar restaurants, but seems smaller. One of my friends who's a local and frequented this establishment years ago raved about the food here. So, I thought "why not? I'll give it a try." August 18, 2023 was my first and LAST day ever eating here. I went early in the day, around 11a (close to opening) and I figured the food would be fresh. Service was ok. The first gentleman who interacted with me seemed reluctant to take my order. (I should've taken this as a sign to leave). Another gentleman came to take my order, and I ordered a grilled tender sandwich combo. I thought to myself "you can't mess up tenders." Boy was I wrong. Maybe about an hour after finishing my meal, I started feeling sharp stomach pains, along with other symptoms that fall under food poisoning (diarrhea, vomiting , nausea). After several trips to the bathroom until around 7p that same evening and an exorcist style cleansing of my system, I no longer felt nauseated, but the following day I continued feeling mild stomach pains and didn't eat much. I wouldn't wish this on anyone! Sad this was my experience on my first trip here. I only ordered a tender sandwich, not an exorcist colon cleansing! read more

The menus is very large and isn't limited to only chicken fingers but salads wings and even burgers! Pretty much something for everyone!!! I have tried multiple items on the menus but my least favorite thing is honestly the chicken tenders they have zero seasoning and require the sauce similar to guthries but without the sauce I wouldn't like them! Their signature item is the chicken fingers (available both fried and grilled). Walton's is one the few drive-thru restaurants available in this part of town. My main problem with Walton's is that the chicken fingers have no flavor. Sure you get "special" sauce to dip your fingers in, as you do in other chicken finger restaurants. Visited here this evening for wings as I usually do on occasion, and with everything going on with Covid-19 I was appalled at something I witnessed. One of the young men who was an employee there was fixing a customer's plate with no gloves on and not to mention no mask, and proceeds to pick up an order of onion rings with his bare hands! I gotta say that this is a place that I visit frequently and definitely is not a bad place per se, but this incident really took me for a loop. If you go through the drive-thru, make sure you check your bag before you drive off. The girls up front always forget to put cutlery kits with food that require a spoon and/or fork, and the extra sauces tend to get left out as well. It is pretty pricey for what you get--a grilled chicken salad will cost you the same as most of the much larger salads at nicer restaurants downtown (DePalmas and The Avenue Pub).
