I was very surprised to find a store like this in Delaware but I underestimated the Chinese population at the nearby university. The vegetables and prepared food is much higher than I'm accustomed to but beggars can't be choosers right? There's a decent selection of everything such as sauces, snacks, frozen dumplings, etc. It can be a bit hidden from the main road but can be a lifesaver if you're craving some familiar Chinese flavors. read more

#ThankYouThursday would go to Wang's. I haven't step a foot out the house since the stay-at-home order. Eventually overtime with my pantry being low and fridge starting to look scarce, I made an effort to do a quick stop shop here. Before there were other Asian Markets in DE, this was my go too. So it's the "OG". Small, but convenient. I was just able to grab what I needed and out the door. Prices varies, but more reasonable. Lady behind the counter doesn't seem quite interactive, but I'm guessing due to the language barrier. Other than that, I'm glad this little market is available. Not easy getting asian ingredients around here versus in the city of Philly. Therefore, support local! read more

This place may be hard to miss because it's located in a back plaza and the sign for it is not immediately obvious. It is definitely not the Chinese superstore you can find in larger cities but it does the job if you're looking for a decent selection of authentic Asian products. In fact, there are so many items in this small store that walking through the aisles may feel a bit cramped/overwhelming. There's a good frozen food selection (various bao, dumplings, etc.) and snack section. I was surprised to find an aisle with useful kitchen tools - something of which I may come back for later! There are also packaged moon cakes and other baked goods located near the cashier. The prices here are very cheap. I left with a basket of food and paid only $30. I did not take a close look at the vegetables or any of the more perishable items but I would recommend getting produce in larger supermarkets. read more

We found Wang's on the chase for a specific ingredient. It's tucked pretty far back in a mixed use business park off Main, next to an art facility, in what looks like a small warehouse. The storefront is easy enough to miss, so look for the green, traditional looking Chinese sign with Chinese characters and the store name. The store itself is rather large for an Asian market. About twice the size of most in this area. The selection is pretty wide. Along the outside wall there are some baked goods, a small selection of chilled precooked food, and the frozen meat section. The back corner and back of the store has vegetables, transitioning into frozen foods. About 4/6 of the aisles are dedicated to Chinese products, ranging from noodles to sauces to household goods. Nice selection of chopsticks, which can sometimes be hard to find in our area. About half an aisle of Filipino products, another half an aisle of Vietnamese prices, and some mixed Japanese and other Asian foods mixed around. Prices were fair on most items. A handful of items were overpriced compared to other local options, but not severely, and again, only a handful. All the fridges and freezers were working and there were no funny smells. The store was a bit disorganized and there were boxes in the aisles, and the whole place could use a bit of paint and some flooring, but it seemed clean. Checkout was a wee bit slow because they were crowded with only one cashier, and the checkout area has clutter, but once we got to the register the cashier had us out in seconds. All in all, a bit hidden, a bit cluttered, but amazing selection and a great local option. Biggest Asian market I've found in eastern MD or northern DE so far. 4/5. read more

I stopped in to get Kewpie Mayo, mochi, picky, and some produce. They have all the staples of a basic Asian market, and fair prices. Glad to know where they are now so that when I'm with my parents I have a spot to get my stuff! Their produce was all very fresh, and well priced. Persimmons were delicious at $1.59/lb when I stopped in. Cashier spoke limited English, but I'm used to that. Only disappointment is they didn't have any kimchi, but this isn't a Korean market, more general pan-Asian Japanese/Chinese. read more

It's difficult to find. There is a fairly expansive selection packed into a very small place. The food is sometimes past the sell by date. The prices are reasonable. The service leaves a LOT to be desired. A lot. So, you know, it's a regular Chinese grocery store. If I could get what I get here anywhere else, without gross inconvenience, I probably would. But I can't. So even with all of its warts, I will be back. read more

Wang's fullfills all the needs of cooking asian cuisine. They have the cheapest and freshest bean sprouts, cilantro, scallions, watercress, fresh shiitake and other produce. They sell a big bunch of Thai basil for a dollar, a dollar I tell you! Other goodies include fresh pick your own tofu, frozen mochi ice cream, cheap coconut milk, rice noodles, steamed buns, 999 cold medicine, various curries, all the asian sauces, bags of dried soybeans, soba noodles and all sorts of frozen delights. read more

I've been to several Asian groceries in Northern Delaware and Wang's appears to be the best of the lot as far as variety of products. In addition to frozen food, dry goods, and produce, they also have some Chinese bakery style baked goods. Even though this store is in downtown Newark, parking doesn't seem to be a problem since it is located in a small strip mall with a parking lot. read more

I didn't know its existence until today! It looks small from outside but I was fairly impressed how big it is inside. It carries Chinese staples, frozen Chinese food (from hot pot ingredients to frozen dumplings), and fresh produce. Wang's has decent size of selections from cooking ingredients, frozen foods, bakery items, snakes to household items. Prices are ok, not the most expensive and not the most affordable. Make sure you check the expiration dates when you shop, a few items I wanted to get passed expiration date. Other than date, it's a decent market for Chinese grocery items. read more

Hidden in the back of the Market East Plaza to the right of the Newark Shopping Center strip mall is a small yet packed Asian market. The shopping center itself is a trifecta spot, allowing you to grab some excellent reading (Blue Hen Comics), stock up on organic produce, meats, coffee and vitamins (Newark Coop), then finish your shopping experience by purchasing your Asian ingredients and some prepared foods from Wangs. The shop isnt very large but carries a reasonably decent selection of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino ingredients, snacks, veggies, and frozen goods. If youre on the University of Delaware campus then this is the ideal spot to get your items to cook your favorite Asian cuisine. There's not a lot of Asian grocery stories in Delaware, but this is one with enough ingredients and food products to keep an Asian cook satisfied~ Prices are cheap and a lot of the frozen food are straight from Chinatown in NYC. Credit cards are only for $20 or more. read more

this place has a very extensive selection for a little store, and price is definitely on the cheaper side. pack of frozen scallion pancake for $1.99, can't beat that. if you grew up with chinese food, this place have so many nostalgia food that you can't find elsewhere within reasonable driving distance. heck i had trouble finding sticky rice shumai even in california! this place has it! along with flaky mooncake! admittedly it doesn't have as good a selection of cute mugs/tea cups/tea pots that i obsessively collect. i would say this place is more like a 4.5 star, def better than my average 4 star places but slightly short of my average 5 star places. but i really don't want to underrate a grocery store on its teapot selection so i round up :P read more

Wang's was THE place I would go to for my asian cooking needs. That is until I found out there were other asian grocers in the area. If you don't speak Chinese, don't expect much along the line of help as to finding what you need. I'm giving them a 3 instead of a 2 on the soul point that they are brave enough to carry Durian fruit. They don't always have what I am looking for, and if I don't know what it looks like, they don't know what Im saying to show me. I once went in for a simple ingredient but had to walk out when the girl working there could't find the words "soup" or "stock" in her English-to-Chinese dictionary. read more
