(Bring bug spray and check for ticks) The natural landscaping was intoxicating with honeysuckle as far as you could see with cute little eccentric touches throughout the property. We planned our days with swimming, fishing, napping, and dinner, too. Jamil's Steak House was wonderful and recommended by our hosts. We ate off site a couple of times, but we enjoyed brunch with our host, Heather, the most in the common area. The fishing was eventful with about 12 snags of different kinds, blue gill, perch, big mouth bass, and crappie. The husband smiled ear-to-ear on the dock, pulling one out right after another. The Cottage came fully equipped, and the bed was super soft! We came to relax and that is just the prescription we received! Oh yeah! The ground pets, Larry, his brother Darrell and his other brother Darrell were a great comical team!

The innkeepers are very professional, but the lady was very nosy and stood there talking more than I could with my guests over breakfast. She is oblivious to social cues. The breakfast was not good. The "special" waffles were just half of a homemade waffle with some tiny sausage patties. No eggs with it. The berry/yoghurt course is predictable and makes you have to keep clearing your throat for hours. The second day the breakfast was at least filling, but the scrambled eggs were all watery and the biscuits were the kind that come in a tube. Coffee was great though. For $125 a night it was a good value, but the food was really disappointing and the innkeeper lady was obviously into everyone's personal business, trying to mask it as graciousness. I checked in on 06/11/2025 room 426. I put my belongings in the room and left. When I arrived back…read moreround 1AM I got in bed and noticed something in the center of the bed felt cold. I realized by the smell it was urine. I immediately called the front desk and the receptionist and checked the urine in the bed and moved me to room 414. When I woke up, I saw a bed bug in the same bed as me and my one-year-old. When I checked out, I told the front desk manager Shawn the situation. He said the front desk receptionist couldn't tell if it was pee. I said of course because it was damp and he didn't smell it. I mentioned room 414 had a bed bug in the bed. He told me that can't be true because they have bed "bugs protector". My child and I didn't go to bed until almost 2 a.m. due to the situation. The manager Shawn was implying I was making these things up like I have time to relocate me and my child's belongings to another room at 2 a.m. He never apologized nor showed any empathy.
