This is the mecca for early modern history/thought geeks. Though this institute is a part of the U of London Institute for Advanced Study, a degree-awarding body in its own right, this review is for the library.
A reader-only library (you can't check things out) with a very unique organizational system (they will explain it to you when you sign up for a reader card, but let's just say there is no ABC order or author's surname or dewy decimal system involved).
This is my absolute favourite place to study as there are large carols, plenty of space with good natural light, and because it is selective about its readers (you must have a recommendation letter to sign up for a reader card, amongst other documents/specifications), there aren't too many people around and you can feel (somewhat) comfortable about your belongings (though, naturally, they don't recommend leaving thing unattended).
If you are studying any aspect of early modern history or classical thought, you must check this place out. read more
