We have bought and then sold two houses with Debby, and as a basis of comparison we have also bought and sold houses with realtors in three other locations. When we first moved to Urbana from New Jersey, where real estate prices are much higher, we saw a house that we liked and seemed very affordable compared to what we were used to. Many realtors might have been happy to get a quick commission, but Debby warned us that even if it seemed reasonable, the house was really substantially overpriced for Urbana. Then, she had gotten to know us well enough that when the right house at a great price came onto the market, she knew that it would not last long and helped us act quickly to get it. She has a great ability to "stage" a house by making small and efficient adjustments that make the house appealing to buyers. Even more important, she helps handle the numerous maintenance and other crises that can arise when selling a house, especially an older house. For example, when we sold our farm house with her this summer, we learned from an inspection that we had a significant problem with our well that was not easily fixed. Debby had to closely oversee the well professionals to make sure that they resolved the problem in time to not jeopardize our sale. We have known Debby Auble since 1986 - she was our realtor that helped us find and buy a house near the UIUC campus, in Urbana.
