They unfurled the sailed and we enjoyed the sunny and breezy day before heading over to Lake Michigan, passing under the drawbridge as we went. Lake Michigan was choppy, but I never felt uncomfortable being out on the sailing yacht throughout. Bathrooms were clean, cold (non-alcoholic) drinks were a-plenty, and there was even a fun space for kiddo to make a fort with the cushions to stay amused. Would highly recommend booking a trip if you get the chance!

I received an email with all of the information and directions I needed beforehand. The bus ride to the river's start point was comfortable. On the way, we were briefed on what to expect and safety information. The winter rafting ride was magical. We were lucky enough to have just gotten a fresh snowfall. The views truly looked like a scene out of a movie. The Jordan River was a stable flow therefore little paddling was required. The snow's heaviness weighed some branches down over the river so some ducking was in order! Our guide, Sam, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable about the river, area, and provided great local recommendations! Partway on our journey, our guide led us off the river. Where we were treated to homemade cookies and hot drinks. Run don't walk to Jordan Valley Outfitters!

Unfortunately, the forecast called for a cold and rainy day for the Monday our boat was booked. The company told me they have a no refund policy unless it's really raining, but the cold alone isn't fun when on a boat. Fortunately, they were very accommodating even with their policy and let us move the boat to a few days later when the weather forecast looked perfect. We had a boat big enough for 14 people (very roomy for our party of 5) and a tube. My husband doesn't have much boating experience, but didn't have any issues after a 3 minute lesson from the friendly woman at Boyne Watersports. The highlight for the kids was definitely the tubing. They have 2 types of tubes: the laying down ones my kids use at camp (for 3) and another one that's more like a couch (for 2). We opted for the "couch" tube and the kids absolutely loved it. They went again and again and again. By the end they were asking for a "hells ride" and flipping all over the place. We wish we had taken them up on instructions for how to dock the boat because the kids started to get hungry and we passed by their new favorite restaurant, The Landing. However, my husband was too nervous that he would crash the boat attempting to dock so we waited to eat until we got back. 4 hours was the minimum, but I think 3 hours is plenty. It's also a very expensive outing, but was one of the highlights of our trip up north! I'd definitely use this company again. They did mention you could rent boats for less time if you walk up, although the gorgeous day we rented was a busy one for them so probably best to rent in advance.

My family and I have been on fishing charters with the awesome Captain Tony the past three summers,…read moreJune 2021, 2022, and 2023, and I can say he delivers a memorable charter fishing experience every time. The very first charter in 2021 we headed out to catch lake trout, and he knew exactly where to go. We took turns catching many excellent fish and then my father-in-law asked Captain Tony if there was any luck we could catch a king salmon. He knew a place, and the odds were against us since it was early in the season, but we pulled up a beauty. We took our haul to Carlson's in Leland to have the fish cleaned up, and took some of it to The Cove to have a "fish party" with the whole family. This repeated each year, but in 2022, we caught our record breaker, a 20+lbs Lake Trout. He had his new boat starting this year, and it was awesome, with comfortable places to sit out of the elements. And this year, 2023, we got up extra early at Captain Tony's advice in order to seek out king salmon! We traveled out to just off the shores of North Manitou Island, and sure enough, we caught 4 beautiful king salmon, including my father-in-law pulling up a 20lbs beauty! Captain Tony is always friendly, fun, makes great conversation, and always has friendly and helpful first mates. Both the Captain and mate are great with everyone of all ages who come aboard, asking questions, making conversation, and keeping people involved in the process. He shows you how he baits and put out his reels, can tell you how deep the fish are, a bit about the geology of the lake, and more. When the fish are biting, they are always excited, "Fish on!" and the next person in line, jumps up and gets to attempt to reel in that fish! I cannot believe this company; last year they installed our dock and it was seemingly amazing…read more Until we asked them to put our dock in this year and they've yet to do it. They told us for 9 weeks they would get the dock in and continue to string us along. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I'm shocked they are even in business with the lack of professionalism. Good luck ever getting your dock back in with this company; they are only good if you have to buy new and then they are on time and ready to go. Otherwise they are not honest and completely unreliable.

For anyone considering a dock or lift system, you could not do better than to choose Bulmann…read more My experience with Bulmann is from working with Chris Binger over the course of the past six weeks or so. I purchased a boat from Dry Harbour in Charlevoix and needed a lift to keep the boat safe and dry. I knew from years of looking at lifts and seeing them all over Lake Charlevoix this was the best constructed and best looking lift. So, in working through Dry Harbour (a Bulmann dealer) I was put in touch with Chris. Total professionalism and attention to detail. I am a very particular guy and was completely happy. I have a property on the South Arm of the lake and have a deep water application. Chris came out several times to fit the lift to the conditions and then Bulmann delivered the unit right for my needs. Several times they needed to level the lift, as the lift settled into the bottom silt and then again when the weight of the boat was on the lift. Each time they didn't settle for good enough but took the time to do it right and get it level. The crew led by Kurt and Rick were extremely friendly, careful and helpful. My dream of a new boat and lift to hold it came true this past weekend and all along Bulmann was going to be part of the picture. I made the best choice for me and encourage anyone out there considering a lift system to not miss taking a long look at Bulmann's product - you couldn't find a better choice. Thank you guys -

Once we really started to travel around from state to state and visited many marina's we realized how much nicer this marina is. Beautiful sandy beach on Lake Michigan with free parking behind Van's garage. It's one of the…read moreeasiest places to hunt for Leland blues. Lots of other rockhounds; everyone was really friendly. We found a few pea-sized stones and were satisfied. The water is about 50 degrees in June, but there some sunbathers and even a few brave souls past knee-deep.

Van's is a great beach off Lake Michigan in Leland perfect for relaxing, swimming, taking in the…read moresunset, or, as we saw others doing, enjoying water sports like surfing and paragliding (can't speak to this directly as I have no skills in either sport but the people who were saw doing it seemed to be very happy there!). It's right near downtown Leland so parking can be a bit sticky but if you're staying in town or spending the day here it's an easy walk from the most bustling parts of this wonderful little town!
