Mr. Salsbe and other instructors all make classes worthwhile. Watching my daughter grow in her skills and character, I decided to enroll myself. I love that not one minute of my hour is wasted while I am there. The opportunity to learn at the rate I am ready for is available to me on all the different skills we are learning. It is always a serious enough level of intensity, yet super fun and safe. Mr. Salsbe is extremely gifted as an instructor. His knowledge of the content is off the charts. I've been taking my 9 year old son here for about two years. He has learned an amazing amount, including the importance of self-discipline and strength of character (honesty, integrity, respect, perseverance, etc) as well as the basic tenets of karate and jiu jitsu. Mr. Salsby is a great teacher, he engages the students and takes the time to explain and demonstrate the principles behind the movements. Class sizes can be large, but kids still get individual attention as needed; assistant teachers help to keep individuals on track. Learning is through repetition and practice in group setting and break out sessions in pairs. Lots of opportunities for tournaments, extra sessions, summer camps, and fun events such as "parents night out". Tournaments are competitive but emphasize the experience and process rather than the winning. I disagree with a previous post/review about high pressure sales tactics. There is no manipulation or high pressure sales. Cost and requirements (gear, attendance, payment plans, etc) are explained upfront and clearly. It's best to talk in person with Mr. Salsby rather than calling, he will work out any issue. This place is highly recommended (Post Falls location) read more

Wow, what you and your child will learn in the dojo. Mr. Salsby is fun, knowledgeable, and truly values developing character as well as defensive skills. Our son has been going here for over two years and has learned so much. The money is well worth the skills they get to carry through their lives. This place has changed my son. He went from whining to not complaining at all. He has.been bullied every year in school. After 2 months his confidence went up and kids started leaving him alone. After: okay so, since a change has been made things aren't as okay. My biggest thing is the phone isn't ever answered. I left messages there not returned., I leave text, and still nothing. I have called right at 445/5 o clock to say I'll be a few min late or that we can't make it and no one answers lately... I've been having a issue with my debt card and been wanting to make arrangements, but I can't if no one answers. NOw I get a message that say I need to sign a new deal to allow son to come back. Umm no I want what deal I had left and pay u accordingly and then if I decide to go for more time I will. Although we like it there, sometimes staff seems to not know anything or just don't answer phone .. there nice and all and I'd hate to leave or have to leave for contract reasons etc. but how do I hope to fix things if I can't get ahold of anyone or a call back!! :( bumb out.. if staff is to carry cell phone at all times for business they should answer it all times. Or as much as they can or at least reply. I don't know what happen to last front desk person. It she never missed a phone call/ text and promptly answered. And if she didn't know she'd find out and get back to me... ur only as good as ur first face of business and that's the desk person most the time... idk I feel this is only way someone will hear or fix it... Before: My son loves it here, the place is always fun and active. Even the staff are amazing people. Never rude always willing to help and make it easier to work things out, like make up classes, new classes etc. for a busy mom that's the greatest! Thanks To both teacher and Mariam. Parents beware!!!! This business advertises a two week "starter" session which is great for someone who wants to test the waters of Karate. However, as you arrive for these lessons there is a high pressure sales team that will pressure you into a year long contract that could cost over $130 per month. If you are vunerable enough to sign a contract because your child is excited to start their lessons and you don't want to walk out of the business and disappoint them... there is little you can do except hope that when you come to your senses they will let you out of the contract. In California you have three days to reconsider contracts like these. Before taking your children here please know there will be pressure to sign an expensive contract. read more

Ms. Emily is a class act and the arts taught are very sound. Good, crisp kenpo. But, the facilities are way too small for the school in the PF location. Too crowded and inadequate space for proper use of the proper equipment/training aids. Because of the lack of space, small pads are used for striking drills which require large pads for safety. Needless injuries from over-strike are the inevitable result of these concessions. Too little room for realistic movement and drill in many instances. I would recommend another school until the PF location gets a larger location. Too small as it is, creating some safety issues. read more
