My boys have been coming here for a few months now, and it's been great so far. Both kids love…read morecoming to class, and they are amped up and completely dialed in for the entire session. It's wonderful to watch. Mr. Tong leads the group with a dynamic energy the kids really respond to, and the way he keeps things moving from one activity to the next speaks to long experience and facility working with kids. My oldest son in particular is a bit of a wild card, and, depending on the attitude of his teachers in school, is either "strong-willed" and "challenging" or frankly a burdensome pain in the butt. He gets into trouble fairly regularly, and has a cheeky attitude that can difficult to manage. He's genuinely sweet and wholesome, but ruled by wild energies that make his path in the modern world more difficult to navigate. I say all this because I've been so pleased and delighted by the attitude shift I've seen in him over just a few short months at Warhorse. Instruction focuses as much on character development and respect as martial arts. The belt system requires students to achieve milestones in character development, and parents have the power to either sign off on these advancements, or not. One of the early tasks was to complete chores and maintain self-care (cleaning and showering, putting things away etc.) "without being asked" which was incredible. My oldest no longer needed to be prodded and cajoled to do things, he started doing them in his own, not for fear of consequences (which he hardly cares about), but due to interest in getting that next belt! Fulfilling his character development! Both boys became actively interested in how to show respect to others and themselves. The transition has been remarkable. Warhorse has an app to communicate out events and updates, and let you know what equipment may be needed for the week. Mr. Tong is also very responsive via text. Parents are not allowed inside to watch, which I thought was unfortunate at first, but after having been in the dojo and speaking with Mr. Tong about this, I am very grateful for. Having been to several kids soccer games it makes sense that a big audience of parents in a small space would detract from the environment he's built inside, where the kids are dialed in to a single instructor. With that said, there's ample opportunity to watch from outside, which many parents do, and there's a little community vibe out there as well. Standing for long periods can be uncomfortable, so practical suggestion maybe wear good shoes or take rest breaks in your vehicle, or bug out and do some shopping nearby. Great location easy to get to in the Valley.

The rule of the…read morehorseback riding trip is if the rider is a minor, then there has to be an adult accompanying him or her. My husband is probably scared of horses, so he made me signed myself up, knowing I am not fond of horse riding (the first time I was on a horse was when I was 9 years old). It was an easy find to go to the ranch. We walked into the meeting area, where we were briefed by the 2 guides about the horse and basic steps on how to maneuver with the horses in case they decide to stray off or something, but keep in mind these horses are able to keep up with single trail walking as long as they're feeling it and you as a rider aren't too nervous and tense because animals can sense your emotion, too! My horse just decided to stray off on his own for a bit, but I was able to guide him back to the group with the guide's help. My horse also decided that it was fun to run up the hill for a bit, and I was able to pull back on his reign to make him stop. Not the horse'a fault. It's animal's instinct. The part that really freaked me out most was when we all walked single line along the steep hill. I didn't want to look to my left because I didn't want to die. The horses are smart enough to not stray off from the path, so that was good. The ride is really 1 hour long like advertised in the payment. Remember that you will be greeted in the beginning, be introduced to your riding horse, be saddled up, be riding the whole way with 1 guide in the front of the line and 1 guide at the back of the line supervising, and be gone for about 1 good hour (ground level , up the hill, down the hill, then back to the ranch). The guides are really good about keeping up with the safety of the group, and the horses are good with their temperament. After the ride is over, the guides will help you get down from the horses and ask if you'd want some water and you are finished with your horse riding adventure. The horses around this ranch are muscular and well-taken care of, so .... No complain from me! Yes, my horse also wanted to snack some hay after the ride because he saw some hay from one of the stalls. I also got to see horse pooping and urinating, so how glorious was that ?

I Love this school and program. All of the instructors and staff are complete professionals. The program they have for the kids is impressive. Their program has helped my kids with their confidence, character skills, exercise and self defense. Their Karate and Jiu-Jitsu is a great well rounded base for self defense. When my daughter is of age I will definitely have her in a lot of the jiu-jitsu classes. She needs the tools to defend herself on the ground. This way she can protect herself against unwanted situations she may run into growing into a woman. The best part is the monthly cost is only $130,. You do have to sign a contract , but they have extra days set aside for makeup classes. Even if we have to take a trip, they are flexible to make sure we get the value for the money we pay with a contract. Most of my family has enrolled in the program including me. I have personally seen children that struggle with different behavioral issues develop into children that have more self control and respect. My son was given a free trial at Hayden Days and has loved it. Regardless of if we decide to continue, I will give this Dojo a very high recommendation. The teachers are enthusiasitic and fun, and I have not had any pressure to sign up.
