Stopped into WarPigs while visiting Copenhagen because I couldn't resist checking out the BBQ scene abroad. I ordered the brisket sandwich, brisket & beans, mac and cheese, and the hush puppies. The hush puppies were the standout - crispy, golden, and full of flavor. Honestly, they were the star of the meal and something I'd come back for. The brisket and sides were solid, but as someone from Austin, Texas (where the BBQ bar is sky-high), I found them just okay. The brisket had decent smoke but wasn't quite as tender or flavorful as what I'm used to back home. Mac and cheese was creamy, but nothing to write home about, and the beans leaned more toward hearty than standout. The atmosphere is lively - a mix of a beer hall and BBQ joint, with a fantastic selection of beers on tap. Service was friendly and casual, very much in line with the vibe. If you're in Copenhagen and craving BBQ, Warpigs is worth a visit for the hush puppies and the fun brewery atmosphere. Just know that if you're from a BBQ capital like Austin, you may find yourself comparing.
This place was packed on a Friday night! I stopped by for a late dinner at 9pm, so unfortunately a lot of the items on the food menu were already sold out. I did end up trying the brisket and mac n cheese though. The brisket was super tender, had a great texture, and was pretty tasty (although slightly salty). The mac n cheese was very disappointing though. It was watery and reminded me of low-quality Kraft mac n cheese. The best part about this place is the Mikkeller beer. There's an extensive beer selection here. I really enjoyed my sour. Overall, the ambiance was great and lively. There was a pretty good live band that played from 10-11pm on the night that I visited.
if in Copenhagen, and you like beer and BBQ, then get to this place. Nicely located a brief walk from the city center to the Meat Packing district which has some other restaurants and sites. We enjoyed some pints of the house beers from Mikkellar and shared pulled pork and some sides - the baked beans and Mac n cheese were good. They have many communal picnic type tables inside and some outside seating on the patio on nice days overlooking the harbor. Note the prices are a little higher than expected, but worth the experience in our opinion.
Echoing many other reviews, WarPigs was incredibly busy. I was actually surprised to see a Texas-style BBQ and craft beer eerily reminiscent of American breweries in the heart of Copenhagen, but it seems to be VERY popular. Since we had a dinner reservation nearby we didn't get any food, but I will saw, from what I saw...everything looked really good. We came here for the beer, and I tried two Hazy IPAs as well as a Black IPA, a new one for me. I am a huge hazy NEIPA fan, and both of these hit perfectly. The hardest part was finding somewhere to post up, which we did eventually. Each beer came out to about $10 US, which isn't bad for the quality and size of the pour. BBQ, beer, or both, WarPigs is definitely worth a visit.
Yeah 5 stars for the sunny day. Five stars for the cold IPA and Five Stars for the Vegan portobello mushroom sandwich! Long walk from our hotel but what a treat. Loved the service and choice of indoor/outdoor dining tables. Yes it's a BBQ restaurant with lots of BBQ for the hungry carnivores but, gotta love they had a little something on the down low for the good guys!
Mikkeller is one of my favorite breweries, and their take on BBQ did not disappoint. I was shocked by how good all the food was. The brisket was definitely the standout, nice smoke ring, thick bark, so juicy and tender. The pulled pork was surprisingly juicy as well where that often ends up being pretty dried out. They were out of hot sausage, so I had whatever the sausage was, tasted like it had cheese in it, wasn't my favorite, but was okay. The mac and cheese was creamy, but not overly strong on the cheese flavor. And the beans lacked the right tangy zing that I'm used to. Burnt ends in the beans was a nice tough though. Hushpuppies were phenomenal though, definitely grew up eating those, and these hit the spot. Overall the fixins are a nice accoutrement to the meat, but certainly didn't outshine it. There's a ton of beer options, and you order in a separate line from the BBQ which is good because the BBQ line definitely got backed up. There were somewhere around 20 beers here, and they had a couple stout options which are my favorite. The Mikkeller in San Diego (RIP) brewed a lot of stouts and they are surprisingly hard to find. Where do I get Beer Geek?? If you're looking to snag some Mikkeller beer and a bite to eat, this is the spot. The place is filled with picnic tables and was super busy around 6 pm on a Thursday when we were there. We could only find tables outside. There is a table full of a handful of different sauces which were fun to try. There isn't really napkins here which is one of my complaints, there's just a roll of paper to pull from by the trash cans. The trash is also set up in a way that makes it hard to pull out and scrape your food off at the same time. The bathroom also wasn't in great shape. As a restaurant, it's by no means a fine dining experience, and in my opinion, could use some touch ups to make the eating here a bit more pleasant all around. But clearly it's not keeping the crowd away, and it won't stop me either from coming back.
Copenhagen's beer Mecca.. A collaboration between Three Floyds and Mikkeller. Always great rotating beer on tap Always great smoked meats and sides coming out of the kitchen. I've tried the brisket, hush puppies with pimento cheese, Mac & cheese, burnt ends baked beans and my favorite the smoked wings! It's always busy when I'm here for the Mikkeller Beer Celebration, but there's plenty of seating both inside and out. I always visit when I'm in Copenhagen
Decent beer and decent BBQ. WarPigs came up as a brewery while I was on vacation in Copenhagen. It was walking distance from my Airbnb so I went to check it out. I like the vibe of WarPigs. It's got a modern rustic interior, is a fairly big space and has tons of seating inside and out. Plus there's plenty of sauce for the BBQ at every table. Beer and BBQ ordering is done separately. Initially I wanted a beer, and had a good time with a helpful bartender finding something to drink. It was a high ABV IPA that wasn't too hoppy. Eventually I went back and got some ribs and brisket. They were ok and would have been better with some Sweet Baby Ray's, but hey, can't have everything you want on vacation. I would definitely visit WarPigs again.
My husband and I had just landed in Copenhagen from a morning of flying and were staying at the Tivoli Hotel headed to Tivoli Gardena itself. Lo' and behold it was a rainy overcast day in CPH, surprise surprise! Hah. But we were really craving something warm and protein forward. Which led us to WarPigs! To be honest, I didn't have the highest expectations. Having awesome BBQ from home and across the US, I wasn't expecting this place to necessarily be stand out. Boy, was I wrong. This place was phenomenal. It's tucked in an industry style area right by the gardens. We walked in, counter style where they make it in front of you and you ring out. We opted to share a brisket sandwich with all the fixings, burnt end beans, spicy a pickles and an order of the mac entree ( which takes about 5-10 minutes to prepare). They also have a stellar beer list as it's a brewery as well! The atmosphere is spacious and open with large community tables through out. They have MASSIVE paper towel rolls and you can grab pitchers and glasses of water as well as their crates of BBQ when you sit down. Everything was amazing. The real stand out was the BBQ sauce. They have four types and every single one was delicious. Seriously I think the best bbq sauce we've ever had. Shared a pastry sour, good but not stand out. Overall, absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. We basically rolled out of there.
I went to Warpigs for the first time for their anniversary party and am really looking forward to going back again. As someone who grew up around amazing barbecue (I'm from North Carolina) I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what good barbecue tastes like. I'm happy to say that THIS is it. Warpigs gave me some of the best barbecue I've had in my life - which I have to say was totally unexpected. I never thought I'd get such great barbecue outside of the US but I'm so happy I was wrong. The classic barbecue sandwich was so good - it just melted in your mouth. So dangerous because when it's this good you just want to buy more and more of them. Pair that with amazing Mikkeler beers and you will easily end up here all night if you're not careful. In addition to the barbecue I was really impressed with their numerous sauces, which reminded me so much of American barbecue restaurants. I recommend trying ALL of them - they are amazing (and, bonus: you can buy them in their little store). Warpigs is right in Kodbyen and has lots of indoor and outdoor seating. If you go on a weekend the lines to buy food/drinks can get pretty long but move quickly. They sometimes sell out of popular beers so make sure to get there early if you don't want to miss out. The food/beer here is incredible, but you'll pay quite a bit for it. Normally I'd give a place with great but pricey food 4 starts, but since it's barbecue and in Copenhagen it gets 5 stars from me! read more

Simply amazing! Mikkeller and 3 Floyds (Indiana, USA) have started an awesome collaboration together by opening this beer geek heaven/ barbecue joint. At the bar there are lots of taps (20 I think) serving top class craft beer, their own soda machine and then there's the food area... Just by entering you can smell the smokiness and meaty fumes but when you try it is even better! They have brisket, beef ribs, pork shoulder, homemade sausages and more. As a side you can choose to have potato salad, mac'n'cheese, coleslaw or backed beans. There is a lot of space to sit so even if you see a gigantic queue outside don't worry- you probably will find some place to sit. And the queue moves fast. This place was my hot finding last weekend and I will definitely come back soon. Awesomeness and total recommend. P.S be prepared for long lines, boozy and chaotic atmosphere- but that's how this place operates. So if you prefer a quite and cozy place for your date that's definitely NOT the place :) read more

Overpriced & under average barbecue. The food is not spectacular. I tried the brisket, pork ribs, pork shoulder and smoked buffalo wings. The brisket was ok but could be more tender. The pork ribs were chewy and not good. The pork shoulder was ok. The wings were average. Quite disappointed. The price is quite high and does not match the quality of the food at all. read more
Really hungry and wanted lunch while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. Found this on Yelp and BBQ sounded the way to go. Have to say I did have my doubts - we're in Copenhagen after all. I could smell the meat cooking a block away! Doubts vanished once we entered. We got some brisket, ribs and pork shoulder. Sides of cole slaw, baked beans and bread. Oh my. Slathered on the sauce(s) and dug in. Had a couple of cold ones to wash it down. WarPigs would be a winner anywhere in the US. I was starting to get homesick after being away for 3 weeks, and this really helped. Go. Get a beer, get your 'cue and settle back for a tasty meal. read more

I went in with very high expectations and was very disappointed. The atmosphere was great; it felt like a cafeteria and it was cool getting a tray and picking out your food. Also, you can see the brewing equipment, which is fun! The music is good too. However, the workers were pretty unfriendly. They got upset when we didn't realize we needed to bring back our receipt to pick up our drinks at the bar. We got pickles, baked beans, brisket, Mac & cheese, and Moscow Mule drinks. Our beans were very undercooked. They were hard! The pickles were very yummy. the brisket was decent, however it was relatively cold and there was a decent amount of fat. The Mac & cheese was good but lacked flavor.. it definitely needed more flavor. Finally, the Moscow Mules were not great. I've had a lot of different Moscow Mules and these were not my favorite. We were told that pork was the meat in Denmark, and in that case, this restaurant is its embassy. As a Québecer, it reminded me of our sugar shacks, but focused on pork. And you also go there for the experience. It's all long tables that you gotta share with other clients, and you gotta wait in line for your food, and another line for beer. We went on a Friday night so it was REALLY busy, I would suggest to choose another evening to go there. The are plenty kind of meats : steaks, sausages, etc, mostly pork, and seriously it's very good. The side dishes are interesting. I tried the potato salad, which was delicious, but there was also Mac n' cheese, coleslaw. Also note that they don't really use plates, you need to pick a tray that has waxed paper on it, and the meat goes straight on it :) I didn't feel like drinking beer so I had a soda. The choice of sodas was really interesting. Blueberry, salsaparille, cane sugar, pink lemonade, root beer, and they are all local brands. The fruit pie was out of this world! It was quite expensive, around 300DKK each, but for the experience, it was worth it. read more
People say this is an overpriced tourist trap. And it probably is (I swear this place is full of Americans) but I honestly enjoyed my food and as a huge fan of IPAs I loved the beer. I agree that there isn't much variety in types of beer. I'm also a huge fan of porters and stouts and they seemed to have two or three max sprinkled in their plethora of IPAs but I liked what I got, the staff is great and I went here at least four times while in Copenhagen so definitely enjoyed myself. I would say stick to the ribs or the brisket and don't get the pork because that was a bit dry. Overall enjoyed myself at this tourist trap :) read more

Staff were friendly, food was very good. Nice casual spot for a bite and a drink or two. Try the Salmon Pants Pilsner. A good refreshing beer on a hot day. We shared the fried pickles and fried shrimp appetizers. Both were very good. Will definitely visit again next time we are here. read more

This is one great idea. The rustic old slaughterhouse were you can still see the hooks and tiles gives a cool and relaxed atmosphere. Great place to go for a delicious handcrafted brew. The food are served on grease-prof paper directly on the tray, no plates or funny servings. We visited as a whole family with my younger siblings, my dad and my own girlfriend and my one year old. Everybody across the the ages had a good time. My daughter happily were munching on the ribs. Even though i am a fan and will surely be back soon i have a couple of issues. I had the shoulder of pork and it were over smoked to the extent that it seemed dry even though its a fatty and delicious cut. it kind of killed the tastes. I am in no way adverse to fat in food where it helps the taste end eating experience. it became to much for my taste with fatty cuts and meat extremely greasy sides. In my opinion it don't have to become healthy or go green but a little green stuff or herbs could go a long way towards breaking up the uniformly greasy experience. read more

Came here for a visit with a few friends for a dinner. I had high hopes as it's at the "meat packing district". Was very surprised by the authenticity and atmosphere of the place, it really hit home. The food I ordered was some spare ribs with spicy pickles and my friends had buffalo wings and the pork shoulder. We all agreed in unison that the food was excellent and at least my ribs were spiced to perfection. Would most definitely recommend this place to anyone who loved a good meat dish! The beers are also nice and various, with many of their own beers on th menu. All the beers we tried during our visit were very tasty and the staff was very helpful in choosing them! read more

This place is so delicious! We had the hot links and brisket but we plan to go back and try one of everything! I was also very pleased with the beers on tap. The pale ale was a great crisp hoppy beer that complimented the bbq perfectly. Plus the bottles of bbq sauce and mustard on the tables was awesome to add as much as you like and they were delicious! I seriously felt like I was back in the States. This will become our new favorite spot for beer and food in Copenhagen. read more

I finally got to try Warpigs last night, and I'm a fan! I should start by saying that I'm not the biggest beer drinker, but I understand that they know how to make a killer brew. Their cocktails on tap are pretty good, too. The ambiance is rustic, with long tables and benches, and you go to pick up your food and drinks at the counters and pay immediately, so the wait staff only cleans up dirty glasses and trays. In terms of food, you simply put together your own tray of meats and sides. The meats come in either a quarter, a half, or a full pound, and can be combined as you like. I had the brisket, spareribs, and pork shoulder, which were all delicious. For sides, I tried the mac'n'cheese, which I love, but they were a bit disappointing. For me, mac'n'cheese should be made with cheddar, but that might be personal preference. The sauce was nice and creamy, though. Their homemade sauces are killer, too - my favorites were the sweet Kansas City sauce, and the Carolina Gold with sweet mustard. I find prices very fair - for my tray of three quarter-pound meats and two sides, I paid 230kr. I'll definitely be back for more BBQ goodness! read more

Coming from Chicago I may be a little biased towards this place, but none the less PHENOMENAL experience! The service was awesome, the beer was amazing, as was the food. We got the spare ribs, brisket, potato salad, Mac, pork rinds, and spicy pickles. Spicy pickles and meat were my fave! And topped with the Texas sauce, it was the perfect BBQ. The area is also awesome, def recommend sitting outside if the weather allows read more

Amazing BBQ. It's very hard to find this quality in Europe. Very casual feel. Walk in and find a table then go up to the counter to order your food. I got the 1/4 lb of brisket and fried pickles mmmmm. My friends loved the macaroni and cheese!! The hush puppies are pretty good too and come with a pimento dip. My other friend enjoyed the buffalo wings. Basically you can't go wrong!! Loved the food and the beer!! read more

The brew is good. Go for the sample to try the various brews. I gave it 3 * because the BBQ sauce was bland and thin, needs more body in the sauce. The meat, brisket and pulled porked, were decent. read more
