We came to this park just as the rain was letting up, and the animals were out! We saw cranes, ducks, and a cluster of about six deer right in front of the visitors' center. This land is named "Warriors Path" because it was an actual warpath used during the fights between the Iroquois and the Cherokee. The park was deeded to Tennessee in 1950. It has an inclusive playground for those with disabilities, boating, fishing, 94 campsites, 10 miles of biking trails, a disc gold course, and an 18 hole golf course. We saw a ton of wildlife and enjoyed getting to look around at what this park has to offer.

First camping trip to Warrior's Path State Park. We stayed for a long weekend since we were attending a wedding in the area. Plenty to do at this park. Amenities include the lake, swimming pool, fishing, boating, disc golf, an 18 hole golf course, riding stables, and miles of hiking trails. We didn't get to take advantage of all of the amenities due to the amount of time spent with wedding weekend activities. We plan to return though.

Warrior's Path State Park is pretty cool.... It's a popular destination in the area for both locals and out of towners, so because of that it's hit or miss when it comes to other human beings you may encounter. Nothing they can do to control the bad apples, so it is what it is. There is A LOT I do here. A lot. Plenty of hiking trails for both beginners and hard core crowds, swimming, community events, etc. Can also do paddle boat or kayaking, fishing, and great place to take your dogs to I imagine (I don't have a dog). I mainly come here for the camping though and have been here quite a few times for that. My camping trips are typically last minute and for some reason they are rarely booked up on a moments notice (except obviously on holidays). The campground area, specifically the overflow area since I do tent camping, is pretty decent. Clean restrooms, and fairly private with an accessible trailhead. I say fairly private because your actual camp site isn't private, but people tend to mind their own business so that's a good thing. Grounds crew also come by here and there to make sure everything is good, control noise, and keep things tidy. It's not the best campground by far, but it's nice because it's convenient... just a heads up, it is close to roads so you'll hear cars. If I was looking for something more remote then I would not come here but for a quick camping trip to get away from regular life it fits the bill.

This state park has an awesome playground for kids of all ages. It is an inclusive park with accessible play equipment for kids with special needs and special rides. There are two separate playgrounds, plus a nature walk featuring the story of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a rustic treehouse lookout, a sensory walk and a puppet theater. It's a must do If you're local or passing through with kids.

We prefer the river sites personally for the views & fishing. The campground owners are fantastic people who've become friends. They live on site and take great pride in the property. The property is always impeccable. They are always working. Such a gorgeous place!! The pond is in the center of the property - yes you can fish (catch & release). Areas setup with hammocks, corn hole, seating, etc. The new playground has been a big hit! Oh, and there's also a dog park area. The bathhouses are super clean and have air conditioning. The laundry room is brand new with great units and also A/C. They incorporated additional activities this year over at the pavilion which our family has loved! Bingo, tie-dye t-shirts, food trucks, live music, and more! Our grandson loves to join us. Lots of kids and a great area for them to all play. Tubing the river is always a fun treat! You can bring your own tubes or rent from the campground. The camp store has expanded and features a great mix of items - t-shirts, hats, hoodies, koozies, and more. As well as local jams, rubs, and other treats. They're in the process of building a new office/camp store so we're excited to see this complete. We have a 40' fifth wheel. No problems every getting in. They accommodate all size rigs. All sites have a concrete pad, fire pit and very nice large picnic table. Sites are spacious and do not feel cramped like we've experienced at other campgrounds. Wi-Fi is generally pretty good. We've been able to work remote on some of our trips. We even had phone service our last trip (AT&T)! Lots to do in the area! Hiking, Linville Winery (yum!), Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mtn and so many other great places. The office staff can certainly provide plenty of recommendations, too. There are 2 grocery stores in town about 15min away. There's also a local dollar store about 5min away. We cannot say enough good things about MRFC. We've met some great campers there who we now call friends. We truly love this place and already have bookings for next year!

I was greeted by a couple sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch. I think the winding road up the mountain and the driveway helped me realize how secluded this place is. There are only nine sites that are spaced far enough apart that you think you're the only person here! Each site is different than the others. The fire pits are amazing. You have to check them out for yourself! There are creeks everywhere. You can hear the water from every site (that's if you're not in a site next to one. Then you can see them also). There was thought put in to making each site spectacular. There are picnic tables, pads for tents, trees and posts for hammocks and awesome fire pits. There are hiking trails that lead up the mountain and into the Cherokee National Forest and around the property. You need to walk them to experience the beauty and the spectacular views! The bath house is like a large bathroom that feels like home! They even have blow dryers here to use! There are two sinks for dishes along with scrubbies and dish soap! The bath house or the camp store both have electrical outlets if you need to recharge batteries for your lights. Don't charge your phone! There's no need for that as a distraction! I will be back!

But THIS one, this one is different from most. There are only a handful of campsites, but the experience is what I imagine would be how campgrounds "should" be before commercial ones started popping up, and laying campsites on top on one another to maximize profit. Yes the commercial ones also brought along nice amenities such as clean bathhouses and electrical connections to keep up with what folks in general expect these days... and that's when locally owned campgrounds had to follow suit or risk going out of business. Here... it goes back to how it was. No electrical connections. Privacy. Views. Isolation. A connection with true nature without having to hike miles and miles with 40+ lbs of gear. The camp store is based on a honor system, you get what you need 24/7. If nobody is there just jot down what you grabbed and it will be billed to you. It is packed with lots of custom made locally goodies, along with standard necessities (first aid, bug repellent, hygiene stuff, snacks, etc) and are priced too low!!! The bathhouse. The bathhouse. Oh man, talk about putting thought into it. Feels just like my own mountain getaway... in my imagination of course because I don't really have a mountain getaway. Well I do now, except I don't really own it. That doesn't stop me from wishing I had own it though. Anyway, this review is already way too long. I guess that's what a great camping trip can do to you. It brings out the peacefulness in you, and make you so content that you want to write a novel about it. I'm not recommending this place to all. I'm just recommending it to those that truly enjoy camping... and nature with only the things we need and absolutely nothing that we don't. Peace!

It's not huge but they have a lot to offer! We went this week, so fall, so we weren't able to go tubing but we were able to go kayaking which was so great! Now this kayaking isn't like huge rapids or anything, in fact it is more of a slow pace with a few blips of tiny rapids. So pace is left completely up to you, and since this was my first time kayaking I really enjoyed getting the feel of the kayak without having to worry about being spilled out. The Campsite was really spacious, there was plenty of firewood available if we needed it and there was plenty brought over to our campsite for our use. They had an awning that was used for other things during the summer I guess we were able to use over our pick-nick table which was really great since we had a lot of stuff and the back of our car doubled as a second tent for our third person. Cooking was a bit of a challenge since there weren't any built in grates for the fire rings but we were able to figure something out so it all worked out. The bathroom was just a shower and toilet/sink room however the lighting system was well set up and (at least in the fall) was never so busy we ever had to wait. Also, it was extremely clean! We stayed here because it was the closest campsite to the place where we were picking up a puppy but we were so happy with Something Squatchy Adventures we plan to visit next year! PS. The park here is set up with a number of camping facilities and trails that have a separate entrance, while the attraction itself is accessible by parking at a visitor center and either walking down a fairly steep trail or taking a (seasonal) chairlift. On the dreary day I visited, there was barely a soul in sight, but the park seemed to be setting up for a winter lights festival. The tunnel itself is used for a railroad line, and a viewing platform allows you to go to the edge of the tunnel but you can't actually go through it, which is disappointing. The trail downstream through the gorge is pleasant and worth a brief jaunt but it terminates quickly. Those seeking more of a hike will find the ridge trail that heads upwards worthwhile, and the views of the tunnel from above are probably at least as good as what you'd get walking up close to it. The local Lover's Leap is majestic (and horrifying, if you think about it). I did not think it one of the more impressive state parks in either Virginia or in the the confluence of states in this region, but there are some nice things to see.
