All of those things mixed together and twisted and pulled into a sweet singular strand of small town taffy. We bellied up to the bar later than we had hoped, in mid-afternoon. We met the current manager who explained the history of the spot, and while it's a little spotty, they've been around a long time in one form or another. She was related somehow to the original owner and it's passed through generations of families. There are strange gifts, new gifts, a lunch counter, booths, and a small menu board. We came in post-hike and got burgers because of course you get burgers. I can sum up the vibe of the food and the whole experience thusly: ME: "Wow, this tomato looks like it came from the garden." HER: "Ya, we get them from a guy who grows them for us. He's actually my old history teacher." Local, small, quirky, but very very delicious. Simple. You'll find clean bathrooms and showers within walking distance of all of them. The nearby reservoir is beautiful and the trees house tons of birds. They have hammock sites (where you could just set up hammocks to sleep in outside), teepees, RV sites, tent sites. Pretty much anything you could want. We went during the week and there was plenty of camping sites available. Though if it was full you would be right on top of your neighbors. Thankfully for us there was hardly anyone there. The camping area is not too far from the boat ramp. So it was easy to take our paddleboards and kayaks down and then drive back up and hit the water. The views here are so lovely. Really so unique. The reds and whites in the mountains and seeing all the rock layers. Make playing in the water pretty awesome. During the day there seemed to be a lot of users. Not as much as some of teh local lakes to me in Colorado but still busy. If you are wanting to rent a watercraft you would want to get there sooner rather than later. Not sure how their rental policy is working now as we brought our own kayaks and paddleboards this time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was calm and peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely come back.

The camp sites are on asphalt (easy to level!) and have great views of the water below. Not much by way of shade, so it can get hot in the summer. If you don't have an RV or tent, you can rent one of tiny houses. There are picnic tables and barbecue grills available too. It's a great little park for water recreating for a day or two. Not sure it would be a place i'd spend a full week, but it's worth a short visit!
