I stumbled across this gallery space while looking for the coffee shop housed inside the same warehouse. What an unexpected delight! I never got to see the former location mentioned in other reviews, but this warehouse space seems to work well for the large scale sculptures it houses. I couldn't quite grasp what I was seeing at first, but it soon dawns on you that you're looking at carefully assembled plastic debris that takes on a life of its own as a large sea creature. And that debris has been pulled from the ocean. It's a powerful statement as you marvel at these cheerfully colorful creatures. This is a collective of artists, and a very talented one at that. It's amazing to think so many hands work together to bring these cohesive works to life. You can tell it's a real labor of love. There's some nice info boards and literature that lay out their mission, as well as an opportunity to donate money if you choose to do so...they also have a website. These big sculptures actually tour around to raise awareness about ocean pollution. Also, the coffee place inside was very good! read more

This was a really fabulous little art gallery. Apparently, it's a co-op, and the artists all live within 30 miles of it. They take turns manning the shop and selling the goods. It seemed like they had made art affordable. There were expensive things there, but there were also items that people on a tight budget could afford to spend on. We bought a small framed photo for $30. Art By The Sea was the name this business was going by. read more

Great museum that showcases art work from trash collected from the sea and ocean. It's sad to see how much trash is collected each year, but the gallery used the collected bottles, cans and such and recreates sea art. They have art pieces of turtles, starfishes, whale rib cage (made out of bottles), and other pieces you'll have to see for yourself when you are there. Great for kids as well, and informative to show the problem of pollution plaguing our seas and beaches. read more

Very cool! Washed Ashore is a traveling exhibit of art made from various bits of garbage found washed ashore on local beaches. Pretty straightforward. A grim reminder of how shitty we treat this planet, but put forth in an artful, passionate way. Right down in the heart of Bandon is a huge fish made from varying shades of orange and yellow plastic bits. So sad to think that this is just a tiny, almost negligible fraction of the huge amount of garbage that just floats in our oceans, poisoning our seas. Ugh. Kudos for the creativity, ambition, and incredibly important message. It was really cool to stop and see this on our way through town last summer. read more

this art galleries amazing. It is a moving and poignant display of the effect humans are having on the environment. They make beautiful works of art to remind us of the tragedy were creating. There is some great information there and it's easy to wander around. I appreciated that the staff were friendly but also allowed us to Meander on our own when that was our preference. this is a great place to stop in at if you're in Bandon or maybe look for their traveling sculptures. Lots of really unusual application of creative ideas to convert trash found in the ocean and on beaches into quiet a range of very well delineated, larger than life sea creatures.
