I'm guessing people from Minneapolis come here too as it is a huge collection site right in the city. The guys working are great and are all about efficiency. What it offers is: - A decent compost pile (I recommend sifting it) for your spring time garden rejuvenation in the beginning of the year. - Collection of yard waste year round. - Food waste composting location. - Pumpkins can be dumped right in the leaf pile. - A branch and stump pile for the bigger things you pull out. But honestly, you go here on a weekend in the fall, there will be a line. Late October - early November is crazy and you will see one of the biggest leaf piles ever.

Yes, unloading staff can be a bit brusque but they are very busy and not all patrons treat them respectfully nor do all follow the rules, putting staff in a difficult position. I pick up a lot of supplies at the free store which is easily accessible and well organized.

It's weird but I kind of love this nice, big recycling center. You can bring so much stuff here to…read moredispose of or recycle. One one side of the facility you can bring cardboard and other mixed recycling of the sort that you probably also get picked up at home, as well as scrap metal (separate bins for aluminum and non-aluminum) and organics. But the drive-inside section is where you can give them old or broken electronics, chemicals such as cleaning supplies, and hazardous waste. They also take plastic bags and similar plastic film. Some things they won't take include styrofoam, construction debris, or any appliances with freon such as freezers or air conditioners. There is a whole indoor section with large room of reuse shelves. It is filled with paints and chemical supplies that were brought in for disposal, but they deemed them reusable. (NOTE: there are limits to the number of visits and items you can take; see my pics.) And they have a calendar of programs such as a "fix-in clinic" where community members will try to fix broken stuff you bring in, and gently-used school supply drives. Also there is a small free library! (NOTE: don't give it books, just take them. Give books to an actual library instead.) They are only open Tuesday through Saturday, limited daytime hours, and there is nothing available outside of the opening hours. But when they are open, they are fully staffed with very helpful people.

Twin City Refuse is the perfect spot for that: they answered all our questions ahead of time over the phone, made the process of dumping our stuff super easy, and charged us a very fair price. Now I'm not much of a tinkerer, but if you are, you either already know of this place or would love to know about it. I just went to check it out and while I'm there, this old boy pulls up and he lets me know this has been coming here for 30 years. The place isn't much. A small garage that's always open and various barrel for you to dump your stuff in. If you've ever tried to bring oil to a service station or an oil change place, they make you feel like it's a big hassle, even though they are required by law to take it. This option saves you from that hassle. And it's accessible 24/7.

Great service. I have a good rapport with the staff here, they've always been very informative and…read morefriendly. I come here multiple times a week and easily get paid hundreds of dollars in scrap steel/aluminum. Pull into a parking spot, they bring a large bin to the back of your vehicle, at that point all YOU have to do is toss your steel, copper and aluminum in separate bins. They weigh the bins, and you get paid. simple as that. If you can't unload your items yourself, bring a friend. They're already plenty busy. Using these services not only keeps waste out of the landfill, but also saves you a ton of money on disposal fees!
