Honestly I'm surprised by the poor reviews on here. I went today for my appointment and left feeling cared for, concerned about and actually listened to. Yes, the intake process is long and requires you to spend some time filling out paper work a week before your appointment. Big deal? No. I was seen by Dr. Juarbe, who was very kind and gentle. He was extremely thorough with his questions and was taking notes. He asked for labs I had done in the past two years and was able to retrieve those, go over them and then discuss possible options. I loved it! I actually felt like he gave a crap about me and didn't want to just send me off. My visit with him (not counting waiting area) took about 25 mins rather than the regular 5-10 mins doctors give you. I will DEF be going back to him and really felt like I was in good hands after my appointment. Thank you Dr. Juarbe. I only took one star off because I wasn't greeted when I came and signed in, BUT front staff was still very kind, but since I was nervous I expected a simple hello. read more

I've been going to this office for nearly 10 years, and have seen a number of different doctors. Dr. Juarbe has been the only one I've had a problem with, and it went 1 step too far for me. We've longed disagreed about the dosage of one of my meds. I tell him about the negative effects different dosages have on me, and ask him to adjust it accordingly, but he just looks at the lab tests and usually changes the dose in the opposite direction of what I've asked. And my state gets worse. During my last visit I was again in bad shape from the previous dosage change. I told him I need to be back to one of my previous doses; he just looked at the lab reports and suggested a change in the opposite direction. That's bad, but when I asked what the dangers were with the dose I was asking (which is well within dosages I've been on from other doctors in the practice) he just rattled off terms I didn't understand and couldn't catch. When I then asked what the risks of those would be, he said "there will be a risk". Totally useless information. I'm giving 3 stars because I don't have any problems with the other medicines he prescribes me. But this is a medicine I need to stay alive, so it's important to me. Lab work is important, but it doesn't tell the doctor about the side effects a medicine is having. And to blow-off a patient's questions is just inexcusable. Hopefully, the practice will get an additional doctor soon who treats the patients, not the lab results. read more

The Washington Endocrinology Office is HANDS DOWN the best doctors office in the entire Montgomery County area (not to mention one of the most beautiful). I doubt there is another practice who's entire team exhibits more tact, professionalism, compassion and skill than the employees at Washington Endocrinology. Dr. Juarbe takes the time to get to know his patients. He makes sure you fully understand the information discussed and / or treatment received during your visit. He listens to you, makes sure to answer all your questions and addresses all of your concerns. I have never had a Doctor before who made it seem I was his ONLY patient! They have a very high turnover of endocrinologists. In only one year, I've seen at least 4 different doctors, and they always quit their jobs. You can tell nobody's happy working there. Dr. Juarbe is the only doctor left at this practice, he looked plenty overwhelmed and rushed through everything. I just called to cancel my next appointment and they did not ask for a reason or to reschule, they SIMPLY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU! I'm giving one star for the friendly nurses. Glad I found a caring doctor elsewhere who has time to talk to their patients. read more

I've been to several Endocronoligist's in the DC metropolitan area and Washington Endocrinology are among the best. I see Dr. Asghar and she is lovely. Super kind and gentle and she really listens. The staff and nurses are friendly. I never have a problem with prescriptions or long wait times. Overall, would recommend. read more

It's only me and my wife at our home and she wouldn't be hanging up the phone as you say. I don't recall receiving any emails from you either. Horrible service, does not answer their phone. I have been to this office now 3 times, each time they are rude and abrupt. I do not normally write bad reviews, but I am so upset with their level of service. They are charging me a ridiculous amount for a simple checkup (weight taken, blood pressure checked, simple verbal "how are you feeling"). After talking bad about my pharmacy, insisting I take the non-generic meds (even though I have been taking the generic for years), I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Now, I am trying to pay the ridiculous bill and after 3 voicemails -- no one is answering the phone or calling me back! I have to now take time out of my day at work to drive down there to try to pay in person. DO NOT GO HERE -- FIND A DIFFERENT PROVIDER! read more

My wife saw Dr. Gonciulea on 2 separate occasions. In every case, the staff promptly greeted us and we were being taken care of within 5 minutes. All the staff, especially Dr. Gonciulea were extremely friendly and patient, and more than wiling to answer all our questions. We couldn't be happier, and would definitely recommend them. read more

I have seen 3 Endocrinologists within the Gaithersburg area. This office and Dr. Chidakel are above and beyond the best out of all 3. The office staff are always pleasant and helpful. Of course I'm a busy person and hate sitting in the waiting room for an appointment. This has never been an issue with this office. The wait time has always been less than 15 min. Dr. Chidakel is warm and caring. He asks questions without judgment. I truly feel that I am in good hands with him. I would recommend this office to anyone in need of an endocrinologist. They are simply the best in the area. read more

Two doctors have left practice in the past year, wait times are incredibly long, front desk staff is very rude (way more so than normal doctor office attitude). I left the practice because it is not up to par with others in the area. Getting an appointment the next day is a red flag that patients don't stay. They also magically lost my scheduled appts on two separate occasions. Just a horribly managed place. The doctor I saw was fine but she's gone now. read more

We are really happy with Dr. Juarbe. We couldn't get an appointment quickly but it was well worth it. He is extremely methodical and pays attention to details and troubleshoots the symptoms like a scientist. He does not rule out any symptoms as minor and goes about troubleshooting in a very methodical way. He is also very open to consider various combination of medicines to treat Thyroid related problems rather than just trying to impose single medicine for everyone. I wish more endos were like him. I strongly recommend him and his practice. read more

So I just left this office in TEARS. Worst Doctors visit I had in my life (and I have more than one condition and have seen a lot of doctors both in the US and in my native country). Dr. Juarbe has no bedside manners. I asked the doctor for any alternative methods of testing, got a harsh "NO!". After I asked what is going to happen if I stop medication, the response was "you'll die". Seriously? Can you even say that to your patient? Especially a young mother who just had a kid 3 months ago?(the doctor was well aware of that). Now to add to my thyroid problems I might have to deal with postpartum depression thanks to this doctor. And do I have to mention that I was seen 55 minutes after my appointment time? Avoid at all costs. I'm sure there are nicer doctors out there and I will start searching right now. read more

Dr G has been my doctor for about a year and a half. I didn't want to go but my pcp made me and I'm so glad I did. I am controlling my diabetes much better but o still have a long way to go. She is wonderful and understanding but will not put up with excuses. It's my health and I have to take control she told me and she was right. The office is always clean and I know this sounds silly but it always smells great. The staff is kind and understanding. Very responsive to my requests. A well run place. read more

After my first visit with Dr. Chidakel, I was charged an additional $180.00 for a 'Prolonged Visit' even though the doctor spent no more than a couple of minutes with me to tell me he was not sure what the problem was and ordered some tests. This was on top of the higher 'New Patient' visit fee level, which is understandable. I spoke with billing and with Dr. Juarbe, who basically explained to me that this was their standard billing practice since they had to input my medical history and medications (which was not much). I find their billing practices to be unethical and appalling. I would not recommend. They are trying to squeeze every dollar out of your insurance and you with extra and unnecessary charges. read more

My first two annual visits to Dr. Jaurbe went fine, although their phone system is cumbersome and time consuming to wade through. Recently I was asked to get some lab work done, which I did, and afterward was told I needed to see the Dr. to discuss the results. However, I was also told that Dr. Juarbe did not have any available appointments for 4 months. This seems like very poor patient care, and completely unacceptable. Some appointment slots should be reserved for current patients needing urgent visits. I have since switched physicians. read more

Things have gone down hill at Washington Endo. Dr. Chidakel was good, but has unfortunately left the practice. I've had a bad experience with one of the new physicians and the new front desk staff is very unprofessional and rude both on the phone and in person. The girl at the front desk rolls her eyes and makes faces about you to other patients. She mumbles to herself and inexplicably walks away mid sentence. I've been hung up on, been put on hold and never picked back up, and promised call backs that never happened. Their phone system takes you directly into a voice menu that recommends leaving a message in their Member Portal online. Don't bother. If they even read messages they NEVER reply - well, except for the one time I pointed out that they never reply and the reply I got was that someone would be in touch. That, of course, never happened. The new physician who replaced Chidakel prescribed a medication that is not allowed by my insurance. It took three weeks to get a definitive answer about that. When I asked for another prescription for a different medication, I was told the doctor said we could discuss it at our next appointment - in 10 weeks! Last week, I again left a message on the Member Portal saying I wanted to switch doctors within the practice or I would find another practice. That message has gone unanswered. I'm not surprised. I wish I knew which doctor in Germantown Mariano L switched to because that would be my next phone call. read more
