We've been here with a bleeding four year old and it's going on to 3 hour wait. Everyone that came in after us has gone in, we finally get called in and now waiting again inside. First off, who makes a bleeding four year old wait this long?? Also it's already 11:20pm and he's about to fall asleep, how are you going to give him stitches this way??? This would never happen in Asia. We seriously have the worse health care system ever. read more

First of all the phone operators suck. When you call it's so hard for them to direct/connect you. They are very slow on their response time for any part of the hospital. They lost my mom's dentures and not too interested in locating them. The people are rude to answer questions. We don't go to hospital to enjoy ourselves unfortunately most of the time you or someone you know is not in good shape. You need to learn that setting needs a lot of comforting, caring, patient and helpful. The hospital it self is not very clean. The air vents are dirty needs to be cleaned. The floors need to be mopped. I will take some pictures for example. Please be more compassionate and understanding. Clean the place up and teach all employees to be more courteous and helpful even when someone calls and they sound loud. It's ok and understand their situation. Keep your patients clean after they go bathroom. Don't leave them for 20-30 minutes dirty. Don't know what else to say because I am angry and will start cursing. Care at this hospital is so inconsistent. While the rare outstanding Nurse, professional is there. The majority of the time the care is often lackluster, and filled with staff to get their paycheck. Equipment is either the newest or the oldest. I honestly cannot tell. The shift changes are the worse when a crisis is happening or need. A patient can be screaming and they won't be helped until the shift change transition happens. It's nothing personal but as a family member of the patient. It's frustrating and I can tell it compromises the health of someone. UPDATE: Came to downgrade this more. So I grabbed a paper bowl for a patient. The little gremlin lunch lady with the hair net had to be a Karen and charge me 39 cents for a plastic spoon! On a Sunday of all places. What a miserable human. Lmao. Labor & delivery I love my OB Dr Tran. And I've had two babies now at Washington. I love their nurses, lactation nurses and everyone there. They are all so sweet and attentive. Caring and helpful. Nicole was my main nurse(my favorite !)I had also two others who switched off, they were all so. Amazing. I wish them all the best and will always remember them . Horrible ER. Some of the staff don't care. I actually think they're trying to kill my mother. I've already had two incidents with them in the past year and they sent her back home with serious infections. She needed to be admitted with an IV. She arrived back home within hours with meds that didn't work. I had to work with home health to try to fix the situation that Washington hospital could not do. They found other bacterial infections within days. I'm still dealing with it. I am sad we have this hospital with a lack of care in Fremont. I'm not going to sign any more petitions in front of stores for this hospital or vote for any more measures during elections. I don't think it's worth it. I wish we had another option in Fremont. I have to start looking elsewhere. Kaiser is not an option either The sad part is my mother has great medical insurance. Although, the nursing staff are fantastic when she was admitted in the past, but that's a different issue. I also have experience with other hospitals around the Bay Area with my mother, husband and myself. So far, Washington hospital ER is the worst compared to other hospitals. Worst hospital in the world. Constantly "forgot" to do wound clean on my grandpa, which resulted in infection. The nurses and doctors were extremely rude and heartless, essentially telling the family, "to be prepared." Never bring your loved one here unless you want them to die. 2 visitors were only ever allowed, very strict on who and how many people can visit but not strict on the health of the patient how ironic. I've never encountered a worse hospital in my life. They couldn't even give us a time of death, as they probably weren't even doing there job in taking care of patients. My review is for the billing department. Absolute joke. Entire staff is extremely unhelpful and incompetent. I got charged $344 for an office visit because they charged my insurance wrong. They admitted fault and said they would refund. 3 months and 20 phone calls later, still no refund. The woman I spoke with refused to give me any information about anyone else that could help me because Trang and Rose were conveniently "out of office" every time I called. They don't know how to give me a refund so they just make up excuses instead of correcting the issue. I'm shocked these people even have employment. read more

Not a good experience. I wish PAMF had an ER. They know how to draw blood better, have a better bedside manner and are good communicators. I was sent to Washington ER because PAMF doesn't have one. Reception was fine. The front desk even greeted me by name on the way out but once in the ER it was not good. I was monitored w a bp cuff, was given and IV and had blood taken. My nurse Patrick was short in all aspects of communication cutting me off w thanks before racing out of my room. I had to use the bathroom and was given a cup to pee in. When I returned it just sat there for an hour until I was finally able to ask about it. They said they just collected it in case the doctor asked but he did not which was weird since one of my symptoms for what I came there for was frequency d/t acute toxicity. Anyway, the phlebotomist had a hard time finding a vein. I brought hot water to drink since that always works when I get my blood drawn at PAMF. They said I couldn't.... Okay. So I ask for heating packs. Sutter and other labs have them. They looked at me cluelessness. So they didn't have that either. The phlebotomist didn't want to use my hand at my request but she had no choice since my veins are bashful when I'm cold. I found a good vein for the paramedic intern who was giving me the IV. This kid put her body weight on me w the needle in my arm. I thought she might blow the last good vein I had in that arm. When my IV was done my nurse Patrick was very abrupt removing it. I thought for sure he injured the vein. I've been in the medical field for years and we were taught to remove tape gently with an alcohol pad. This nurse Patrick ripped it off w the IV still in my arm (and I'm little compared to him)and covered it right away so I couldn't see what damage he had done. Washington needs to huddle with their staff working w needles. These guys need proper technique BADLY before the reason for admission is injury from that ER! Next time I have to go to the ER I will not go here. Almost forgot. I could hear everyone's conversations outside my room but they couldn't hear me when I called for help, nor did anyone give me that button to press to ask for help. I had to yell many times over before someone finally came in. When I returned from the bathroom to get hooked up to the IV and monitors, I was sure to have that button at my side. the lady who put the cuff on didn't even notice she put the cuff on too loose to get the readings. Yep, these people are careless with a short attention span, lack of consideration with poor communication. The only exception was the front desk. read more

Since the first time I've come to the ER here at Washington Hospital, every single staff member here has been so amazing. I feel like they actually care and put love into what they're doing. I live in South San Jose right next to a Kaiser hospital and I make the drive and will continue to make the drive to Washington Hospital when I need medical assistance out of ALLLLLL the Hospitals I've been to throughout Multiple States for emergency services. This hospital is hands down the best I've EVER been to. I can't see myself or my kids going anywhere but here if we need Medical Attention. Never a good experience when having a medical emergency but the whole staff was amazing. I was submitted today as a trauma patient after a motorcycle accident and the whole team was efficient, very caring and very friendly. Under doctor Bryan Beall & his team's care I was in and out in about 3 hours after multiple X-rays, a CT scan and a wellness check to ensure I was fine before leaving. I can't stress enough how helpful and great everyone there was. God forbid I have another emergency but I'd have no problem being under their care again. read more

Today 02/23/2025, I visited the mowry branch because my wife had shortness of breath. They did some blood work and a swap to check the influenza and covid. Nurse told me that it will take an hour to receive the results. But she left the swap in the room and forgot about it. They are not paying attention and really careless about their patients. Needs to mention that my wife is pregnant and they even have not cared how our baby is doing. Management, please bring positive changes in this hospital and make sure that your staff put their patient first. read more

How wonderful the WHOLE TEAM at this hospital is. From when we were greeted by the asian woman at ER security to the ER staff and then to 3rd floor...this place has really leveled up since previous stays. Washington has always been great, but it's a COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT ATTITUDE NOW. Everyone is smiling, and positive. This review is primarily about the staff on the 6 West floor. They were STELLAR! From the nurses and doctors, to the orderlies, to the housekeeping staff and food and nutrition teams - all of them were extremely kind, friendly and accommodating. My grandmother collapsed and was dealing with compression fractures in her spine and was rushed to the ER. She was admitted for almost two weeks and I visited her every day that she was there. As I am 7 months pregnant, the entire 6West team even went out of their way in ensuring MY comfort as well as my grandmother's. They'd bring extra pillows, blankets, snacks, etc. They took such good care of my grandmother, we almost didn't want to leave when she was finally cleared for discharge. I'd like to give a special shout out to her nurses: Melissa, Valerie, Rav, Lorena, Lalaine (and so many others whose names I didn't get) - they were so gentle with my grandma and would call her "Mama" and would hold her hand at night when she was scared that she'd never be able to walk again. I have to say, the ER staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, I always highly recommend Washington Hospital - their staff is absolutely wonderful. read more

I was incredibly surprised when I came into Yelp and saw that Washington Hospital has only 2.2 stars! Thought it was a mistake. I've had a wonderful experience here since more than a decade ago. My grandmother was frequently hospitalized here since 2010 and have received the most attentive care ever. The nurses and doctors were always very professional and kind. We have never had any unpleasant experiences here. Fast forward 14 years to today in 2024 - my mother recently undergone a lumbar surgery performed by Dr. Sandeep Kunwar. So far, my mom feels really good. I can't thank Washington hospital and their staff enough for the quality of care, professionalism, and kindness!! Highly recommend this hospital!! read more

It goes to show that even during stressful and chaotic times we are still thinking about each other! Called to confirm and had to call the following morning to get the approval from the manager. All was set.. my friends and I met at 9 in front of the main entrance. We called Pam and w/in minutes she showed up - completely enthusiastic and excited for this donation. We started calling, wanting to do something for the folks working at night. It was such a brief moment but we were happy to be a part of it. I had a horrible experience with Dr. Prasad and her staff. I had made an appointment three months in advance. You get a call at 7.54 that you need to come at 8.10 for an appointment since you are a new patient. I leave in Hayward; it takes me 35 minutes to get to the office. They sent me a link to onboard the new patient, and you are not even aware of it till 40 minutes into the appointment; there is No empathy or consideration. What an arrogant staff... I will not trust this establishment where you have such an unprofessional staff. Stay away. read more

A friend of mine had her mother admitted there from an ambulance and they took hours for her care and never noticed a spit toe. she suffered a stroke and problems with vision afterwords. So, they had her there for a few hours and discharged, but my friend had to mention about her foot to the nurse and she said it will be cleaned up? my friend demanded ex rays and they did to turn and find out she suffered hairline fracture to her ankle and a split toe from the emt pushing the door open to get her out when she was laying there unconsciousness. I was there at approximately 11:40 pm. I approached the emergency dept. counter to check in. 2 women a brunette & a blonde. Blonde is I guess, checking in the patients. She says "yes" I stated yes I'm having chest pains." She says, "I need your ID." I asked, " can i ask why you need it?" I have never been asked whenever I've come into emergency in the past. This was why i asked. I was just wondering. She stares at me rude!! No personality!! Not pleasant as your slogan states!?? Don't go there if you need help. You'll be met with victim blaming, finger pointing, an adversarial staff, and a lack of ownership of their failures. My wife has been suffering for weeks with migraines, insomnia, today she had a procedure scheduled that may have given her answers or relief. Washington Hospital dropped the ball. They booked the room but not the doctor? Then it said reason for cancellation: patient. Not only did they drop the ball on her appointment but then lied about it by saying the patient cancelled it. When I called and asked them to fix their mistake I was met with more lies and blame games. Eventually I talked to the 'manager' , I was told there was nothing she could do, they weren't interested in making any effort for her and booked her a week away. This is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, we're human, but at every job I've had we owned our mistakes and had the integrity and class to fix them. My wife hasn't slept in 3 weeks, we've been in and out of emergency rooms and the hospitals response was a nothing burger. If your hospital is understaffed, if it's poorly run, if more patients have to suffer because of their 'hands off' approach to health care - go somewhere else. And it's not on the patients to fix your hospital. Give a shit and do better Washington Hospital. It's embarrassing. read more

Last week I had an appointment for my 6 week checkup for my left hip replacement! I wasn't disappointed, I saw Dr Sah's team at the Institute for Joint Restoration whose center is in the Washington Hospital. I was coming from Santa Cruz and Hiway 17 had an accident that made me really late for my appointment. I called Dr Sah's office and the Front desk assistant Ivania was so sweet and reassured me that they would still see me and not to worry 1hr plus late) when I arrived Ivania was very professional and had a big smile as did Jamie ? I was seen promptly and they gave me first class treatment, did an XRay and explained everything was in place. The assistant Sonia was wonderful as were the other team. (Sorry I forgot some names). This is a first class unit and everyone who is concerned about being in good hands, can rest assured they are in excellent hands. Quite an extraordinary team, I'm always treated like I was special. I am now Pain Free!! It's life changing, don't hesitate living with hip or knee pain, get seen by Dr Sah , he's the best!! read more

Its not surprising they have a 2 star rating. Worst patient care I have experienced. Out of several times I have been to this hospital I have never had an experience where I wasnt frustrated with the amount of time taken to see a patient and to eventually be treated. Even for simple suture removal I have waited 6 hours which is unbelievable. I have heard similar complaints from others who visit this hospital. Dr Lam is one doctor to avoid if at all possible as it seems he takes his own sweet time in making the rounds to see patients. I wish I had better accessibility to another hospital. read more

I dont go to e.r. at a drop of a hat. However, i had to. Walked in to e.r. Got taken into one of the rooms imediately. Service was quick, even though they were busy. Service , splint, referals, lab , x ray. This place was not bad for care, but watch out if you have elderly parents there! The case manager barely ever contacted me about my Mom. Then waited until til a Friday afternoon while I was at work to force her to sign a contract discharging her to a random nursing facility. The nursing facility was horrible. One case manager gave us options, but they didn't care on discharge. She was sent to a random facility two blocks away that we hadn't even heard of and when I came to visit in the hospital, no one knew where she was!!!! They never informed me she was sent anywhere, or where she was sent and the place they sent her to was a hellhole. This practice is illegal, or should be, because no one was there on a Saturday to even answer the phone. Luckily the head nurse on her old floor knew where she went!!! I had a surgical procedure, including full sedation, and was in the hospital overnight. Medically it was 100% successful. The room I had (just me in a double room) was well equipped and had a nice view of the hills. The food was nutritious and palatable; not gourmet, but I ate it all (it's Hospital Food!). The support staff were friendly and competent. I'm used to 45 years of PAMF/Sutter, and I thought they were not quite up to that level, but so what? They all did their jobs satisfactorily, including waking me up regularly to get vital signs and give me pills. I was hesitant to go there at first, because there are negative reviews on line. I went because they have equipment for my procedure not available at PAMF. If I need to go there again, I will absolutely do so without hesitation. read more

I will never come back to this hospital. The staff are so noisy even in the middle of the night. They love to talk and are not focused on their job. There is no professionalism. The Filipino nurses are nice but they speak their language all the time. The nurses leave you for hours even if you've called them hundred times or ignore the beeping of your machine which is so irritating. I have never had this experience with good hospitals in the Bay Area. If you like to be treated with care, attention and empathy, I encourage you to go to hospitals like Marin General or Stanford. Their OR dept doesn't even looked sterilized. There are a lot of staff talking loud, laughing, with radio on. There is no respect for patients who need quiet time. They'd position you for the procedure even when the doctors are not yet around and by the time the doctors arrive, your body is stiff, tired and hurting. Then after positioning you, they'll leave you and the nurses will keep chatting in the OR dept speaking their languages. read more

My son broke his arm and he was brought to this "hospital", ER. x-ray, blow, painkillers. "Doctor" showed up about an hour later. This is a small kid! With arm broken! with very bad arm fracture! He asked some regular questions and disappeared again. After I went to reception multiple times and asked for a doctor, he showed up again after one hour! And he told me that there was nothing that they could do here and we had to go to Oakland Children Hospital! This so called "doctor" realized that after more than 2 hours! This review is for the Radiology department. I found a lump on my breast and I have a strong family history of breast cancer and disorders. My PCP (Outside of the Washington Hospital Healthcare System) sent an order for a diagnostic mammogram and radiology with a standby biopsy (basically if the radiologist thinks it's serious enough, they can do the biopsy right then and there). My PCP sent the order to Washington Hospital Radiology because it's close to me and since they're a HOSPITAL (not just a radiology center), they should be able to do a standby biopsy if needed. First time I called to schedule the appt: The person who answered my call was so rude, questioning whether I even needed a mammogram or radiology. I don't even think she even checked whether they had actually received my doctor's order. She told me to call my doctor's office back to ask if they had sent it to the right fax number. I went back to my doctor and confirmed it was sent to the right number. Second time I called to schedule the appt and to let them know that my doctor had sent it to the right number, they told me the wording of the order was confusing. Told me to call my doctor office again to have them fix the wording AND to have them send the order for an ULTRASOUND, NOT A MAMMOGRAM. Uh, is this receptionist who told me this a DOCTOR??? I called my doctor again and she fixed the confusing wording. Third time I called to schedule the appt: A THIRD rude lady at Washington Hospital Radiology answered. 1. I don't even think she checked whether they had gotten the new order. 2. She told me the mammogram and ultrasound need to be on SEPARATE ORDERS! I asked her if she could call my doctor office directly because Washington Hospital Radiology is the party who is SO particular about how the doctor order should be written before they could schedule my appointment. I also told them that I am already anxious enough about having a lump on my breast in my early 30s without having to play messenger between them and my doctor office with these very particular instructions on how my doctor order should be written. Their response? "Well with the number of incoming call we are getting, I won't be able to call your doctor office for a couple of days. Plus I can't call every single doctor."- I never asked u to cal EVERY SINGLE DOCTOR- just MY doctor; that's ONE doctor. Also, maybe don't be so particular about how the order was written. Why does an order for a mammogram have to be separate from an order for an ultrasound??? If I were talking to only 1 person at this place, I could've just thought it's only that 1 person. However I talked to 3 different ladies at this place when I called to schedule my appt and all three of them were RUDE with NO COMPASSION and NO COMMON SENSE. I ended up asking my doctor to send me to a radiology in San Jose that made my appt immediately even though the ultrasound and mammogram were on the same order. If I could give Washington Hospital Radiology zero star, I would. They don't care at all about their patients' or potential patients' wellbeing. read more
