Years ago, I was a patient at Fremont Hospital during one of the most difficult periods of my life. At the time, I was struggling with psychosis and schizophrenia and needed help finding my way back to reality. The staff treated me with compassion, patience, and dignity during a time when I felt scared and confused. While recovery has been a journey, I'm grateful for the role Fremont Hospital played in helping me get the support I needed. Today, I work full-time in healthcare, raise my children, and advocate for mental health awareness by sharing my recovery story with others. I stayed here during the worst period of my life. I attended the adult IOP program. I personally did not feel like the staff wanted to help. It felt like they were there just to make money. I went through a really bad depressive episode and doctor Wairich was not compassionate at all. I specifically remember him telling me, after I told him my problems, "maybe you're just too depressed." Who says that to a patient? I am thankful that my parents eventually took me out of this program. Only benefit the program is meeting a friend here. That was it. It's like everything else in Healthcare. I had a very disappointing experience with Fremont Hospital while trying to get help for my daughter. I visited and spoke with the caseworker, psychiatrist, about pursuing a medical conservatorship, but I felt my concerns were dismissed and that no real effort was made to help us. Instead of working toward a solution, my daughter was sent back to another facility and then thrown in a shelter home. And back to same process. This has been going on for five years, and it often feels like our children are being moved from one facility to another without real support or progress. I understand that mental health treatment is complicated, but from my experience, it seems like these places are more focused on business than on truly helping families. read more

It is unthinkable for me that this Psychiatric Hospital hires a doctor who has not heard about LPS Conservatorship, SB43 or simply have no idea about new Legislations after 2023 all about Mental Health. Super disappointing to say the least. Also close to impossible to communicate with the care team especially the doctor. I was at the mercy if ever I get any call at all. I came here 6/25/25 to 7/1/25 and it was life changing. if you genuinely want to change and are willing to be on a program and go to groups and learn coping mechanisms.... you will likely succeed! Dr K. - I think you're just what I needed. I'm not trying to be your friend, nor you mine; but you have a very bold demeanor. I've never met a woman like you before. You're intimidating and not in a bad way.. but you definitely scared me straight. If you or your loved ones need to be stabilized on psychiatric care, this woman is surgical down to the blood testing to the hour. She had me dialed in. Case Manager Pari- I hate to say this.... but I did not fill my prescription. It's not the cost either. What it is. I don't like the side effects of the meds. At least not in my real human day to day life. In the hospital it was ok. As crazy as this sounds; I'm just now barely today (Fri 7/4 10pm) here in Daly City at Panda Express barely coming down off the final dosage I had at 10am Tuesday morning 84 hours ago. I have only slept like 6 hours since I woke up Tuesday morning. And im not even tired. I guess what I'm saying was the meds made me too tired. I could literally sleep 18-20 hours a day. Last night and Tuesday night I didn't sleep at all, nor get tired. Though I slept 5 hours Wed night. Another side effect I didn't like was it made me impotent and not able to perform sexually. Like at all. Trust me. I tried. It also kills my motivation for gym and makes me want to eat everything in site. I easily consumed 10k calories yesterday. So I've gone back to smoking medical marijuana. Albeit I switched to joints from carts which have lower THC rates (25-37%) whereas carts are 88-92% thc. My impending drug test for nursing school is Oct 7th so I still have 95 days to figure out how to be clean. I have coping mechanisms I learned in groups. I can mentally challenge myself. I couldn't do that before. Like I said.... 75% of the patients here are dumb shit mofo's that don't take showers or wash their hair and act like kids. 25% of us actually want to change. I met some good dudes here that want to change. Regardless of who you are/where you are in life; the staff treated everyone here ultra great. Every meal time they literally go out of their way to get you 2nds or 3rds, and even 4ths. They always got snacks. Jaspal... you're an inspiring being! I will visit Nagar Kirtan this year and when I finish nursing school I will come back and visit. Thank you brother for treating me and everyone here like family. I was recently taken here after having a panic attack at Clovis Community. I was on psychiatric hold for a week. Everyone was wonderful, food is what'd you expect but honestly some of it was really good! All the RN's were helpful and kind and I could tell they all had a good relationship with one another. Stella was great and made me feel really heard and eased my anxiety a lot. Not gonna lie part of me wishes I could have stayed a little longer. I was misdiagnosed here with schizophrenia in 2010 because I would not tell them what happened to me. That's my first problem with this hospital. I have compliance issues with the medications because they have so many side effects and I don't actually need them. For example, a quick Google search of Zyprexa can show you the side effects. In 2023, I was forced to go back because I went to the lowest dose of Zyprexa for about 5 or 6 months and it made everyone unhappy (when I got there, they lied and said I had completely stopped taking it at all). It made my psychiatrist at the time, my case manager, my older brother, and the rest of all my families, and especially Momentum for Health, angry. When I was there in 2023, I opened up as much as I could about what I should have said in 2010 and what I was saying to my outpatient care team since 2019. Most of the MHTs there were treating me very badly, and also many of the patients, especially the ones who were favored by some of the MHTs. Like Sharron treated me badly and so did her favorite inpatients. I remember especially Sharron and Angel and James treating me badly. My psychiatrist that time, Doctor Waraich, claimed to have helped write the DSM-5, but his name is not in the copy I had previously bought for myself from Barnes and Noble. It was actually in that DSM-5 that I learned about hyper vigilance from PTSD, which is what I had after my psychotherapist Nick Ross told me I had no evidence and the police would not believe me and I had an internal implosion of rage that led to loss of sleep, hyper vigilance, and psychotic like symptoms. During the time between 2010 and 2023, I had a couple times where I got to the lowest dose and completely off the medication without hospitalization, but I would be stressed out usually by my older brother and cousin to restart taking a higher dose of it. In 2026, I successfully tapered off the most recent trial of Abilify and because a family member neglected their dog and I was battered for standing up for the dog, it was used as an excuse to take my copy of my house key. I was having to make a lot of non-emergency calls to the Cupertino Sheriff. One night after calling a crisis number and explaining the tension between my brother and I and also what my neighborhood does to me with sounds, whether or not my brother is home, (right Bob Stahl? "That's our way in. With sounds and choiceless awareness." He said that to me and about me in his MBSR group a long time ago.) she said to call 911 if I do not feel safe. During my call with the dispatcher she said I would have my blood pressure taken, but there were only Sheriff's Deputies. They used my miscommunication that I felt angry at my brother as a reason to force me back into the mental health system. They arrested me and brought me to EPS. I was tortured at Emergency Psychiatric Services for 24 hours. Then forced to go back to Fremont Hospital. I opened up more to more of the MHTs and RNs like I had in 2023, but the psychiatrist forced me to take the first antipsychotic I was prescribed in 2010. She also claimed that the mood stabilizer she prescribed would have off label side effect for my dopamine withdrawal from Abilify, but she lied about that too. Edwin, younger Asian male, lied and claimed that I had threatened my brother with a knife and also that I was gravely disabled. This hospital is full of discrimination and lies. I have more I would like to add to this review, but this is the start. They also need to be charged with willful destruction of personal property. I am deeply saddened and extremely concerned for my brother's safety. The hospital plans to discharge him tomorrow despite his unstable condition. He calls me 30-50 times a day, is hyperverbal, delusional, and becomes easily agitated. His psychiatrist at Fremont recently increased his Trileptal dose for Bipolar Disorder from 600 mg twice daily to 900 mg twice daily, yet it has only been one day since this dose increase, and he is already being sent home. I expressed all of these concerns to the social worker, who discussed them with the doctor. Despite this, the doctor stated that my brother is "safe" to go home. Based on his current presentation, I strongly disagree. My brother is not safe to return home and is currently unable to care for himself. I am a Registered Nurse with 33 years of experience, currently working at a psychiatric hospital in Sacramento. Based on both my professional judgment and my experience as his family member, he is not stable for discharge. I would not even give this hospital one star. read more

5/5 The best way I could describing their services are they generally always be there for patients most of the times, or as least with my case. They feed me, and other patients when we hungry, having sugar crash that actually impacting people health. But, I am not sure why, or what cause them to forgot certain request for a while, could be understaffs, busy, et cetera. I still think they generally deserve a 5 stars over all after see how much service they have done to the patients even with fast pace environments. Yes, including other health services ( don't like to disclosed these services since I think it might be their rights about it? Not sure) Alert Necessary Recommendations: please, super please check the medications side effects. The staffs, including doctors, are might understaffs sometimes, so you probably have to watch out for your self sometimes by reading side effects. They could only recommending you what the hospital have in hands to help your situations. Is it facts so? I dont know, but think it is probably the case why. Their medications prescriptions will generally work just fine as long you answer everything correctly when filling out about health information, except the origin, height, weight inclusions. So, this review is mainly for people, plus hospital from both sides understand to avoid future conflicts that is probably involving courts case(s). Beside all that, they are still a good hospital for low income people like me. Not sure what is the charges...so review might be change later. Worse hospital ever. If your loved one get send to hear please know your rights as a parent/ guardian. Very little information and you really have to advocate for your rights and call and call to have someone to call you back. I would never ever recommend this place ever. Everything is so old. No air conditioning, so depressing, the shower water is rusty and too hot. Not enough supervision at the youth units and the safety for the youth is very limited. Visitation is so limited and the visitation room is so depressing. Lot of fights at the units. Patients overshare things with each other. read more

Do not answer phones and they do not report the real condition of the patients to their family members. The visitation is intentionally short due to mismanagement. Medical staff seems not to care about the physical condition of the patient, and they do not take seriously the complaints of patients with physical ailments. They do not respond to family members who seek some serious information of patients. Most diets do not agree with the condition of the patient. There is screaming on the floor of Shasta as an example which prevent patients to sleep. I hope they will improve their services and make life easy for patients. read more

NEVER bring your loved ones, let alone kids, here! EVER! I was treated like I was crazy despite doing perfectly fine. This place will haunt me forever. Absolutely no privacy, which is understandable. The staff there were extremely rude!! When a patient was in extreme pain, and I'm not even exaggerating, they SLOW WALKED AND ROLLED THEIR EYES!! The only good things there are the people, and by people, I mean the patients. Not to mention a staff there is racist?! Adding on, there is such clear favoritism that it's almost depressing. I got taken there and hated it. The food was bad, the showers were horrible and we barely had time to even take care of ourselves, LITERALLY couldn't sleep because of the bright ass lights and there self care stuff was not good at all the toothpaste tasted like chalk. And for me i had problems in there, my roommate had told me that everyone/patients said if i did anything to a girl named ALINA that they were all going to jump me. Mind you i had stitches in my arm where i couldn't even bend my arm straight. I told the staff everything about it and still did nothing about it, instead they gave me "advice" which was useless as fuck. They then told me just to go in my room and avoid it. They did not even which my roommate out who is a stupid bitch, (i'm sorry for saying that but all she did was lie to me and try to manipulate me and everything i would tell her, she would be quick to to go tell EVERYONE) Alina called me out of my room to talk, so we talked and she tried to act all tuff which was embarrassing. She basically tried to intimidate me WHICH did not work at all. If anything i sat there laughing in her face also intimidating her and told her to watch her back and left the area. BUT while we were talking she had everyone basically surrounding me and we were literally in a view where all the staff can see us. YET STILL NOTHING ABOUT IT. My kid was sent to this hospital for mental health issues. He himself wanted help and wanted this hospital could help him. There was not much help. Most of the time, the patients do not have much to do, only very minimal meetings with therapists/ psychiatrists. When parents called the hospital 20 hours after check-in, and wanted to check on the patient's condition, you are literally told the patient had not met with medical staff yet. The case manager was very rude and almost cut my call. When a kid was sent there it was a serious matter and it is normal for parents to worry naturally. Yet it seemed like I have not right to ask them on just some basic questions about the patient. The help that you can get from there is minimal and seemed like they are just trying to complete 72 hour involuntary stay. They are wrong about the check-out time. 72 hour was due in the morning around 10am but the hospital told me 5pm that day instead - which was another 7 hours. My son told me the time was written on the document he has signed. The case manager said she would check with the doctor. She did call me back and confirmed that it was indeed 5pm. I asked even if it was written 10am? She replied yes, it had to be 5pm. And when we were at the hospital during visit, one staff asked me not to trust the kid and asked me to trust what the hospital told me - which was incorrect! Eventually, my son and us parents both talked to the hospital before 10am and we went there early and my kid was released few minutes after the written time on the paper. I don't understand why they want to keep a patient over the maximum holding time allowed. read more

This place was an absolute disgusting nightmare! I have been to quite a few hospitals in my years, but this one was the absolute worst most horrible, disgusting, filthy, hole in the wall place I've ever seen! Only like two of the nurses were okay and the rest of the staff were despicable! My "physiatrist" wasn't even a real physiatrist, she was just a student! I'm not a mental person I just have Autism. Putting me there was the worst upon worst thing that could have happened to me! I was "suicidal" for like five minutes because I was being bullied very bad. The whole time I was in there I was fine, except I couldn't sleep because it was the lights were so bright and everyone was screaming all the time. The food was deplorable and everything I ate made me sick. They messed up my meds so bad I'm still suffering. And I swear the bathroom walls were growing bacteria that I could actually see. I started twitching, jerking and jumping from all the noise. I'm still am! I'm surprised I didn't die there! And they just wanted me to stay on and on! I was never really even suicidal at all to begin with! My living situation is fine and there is nothing wrong with me! I don't understand why I was even there! I got a piece of paper that said I was going to drink Clorox or something, white I NEVER said to anyone or even thought it! The place looks good on the outside, but it is horrible! First off, I came here to get away from the world. I was followed by it. I was not given a moment's peace in this ward, wasn't allowed to take my recovery at my own pace. Everyone wanted to get into my business, and everyone lied to me, as if though lying makes for good relationships. It wasn't even good lying: I saw right through everyone for the needy assholes they were. They demanded I share all my secrets, tell them all my problems, as if though they were worthy of the knowledge. As if though they could help me and were not themselves the problem and the reason I wanted to get away in the first place. They modified the doors in the whole building, made it so they wouldn't close softly, instead making it possible for them to slam all the doors at me whenever they were mad at me. They didn't give me any privacy when my family came to visit. I had to talk to them in the hallway so everyone could listen in on what I had to say to someone that wasn't them. They made it really hard for me to sleep. My roommate did nothing but snore very loudly, and I could do nothing about it. Someone else in the reviews said to watch out for people who think the world revolves around them. Well what am I to do when the whole world seems to want to get in my business? How am I supposed to exist in a world of fakes and liars and shitty attitudes and not be mad about it? This place made me more mad than when I entered. They did not break my spirit and make me part of their cult, but I regret having to deal with them in the first place. Don't come here. read more

The first day I got here, two of the staff started bad mouthing a patient here to each other, and then proceeded to look at me and laugh it off. My roommate had an episode and all the staff started talking about them too. Soon after, I became close friends with this roommate. I feel like this person and the art therapist were the only two people that left a good impact on me from this facility. I was told that I was going to be discharged a certain day, but then the staff informed me that I will not be getting discharged when it came. The excitement I felt was replaced with tears, it triggered me so badly. It has been postponed. The staff got into fights with the patients a lot, it would always be verbal or even physical. At this point I think it's all on purpose so we would want to "recover" and discharge faster lol read more

My experience sucked. a patient was constantly bullying me to the point when i was aggressive they put ME on a new medication to basically make me emotionless. they did nothing about the bullying. there was an MHT who was an absolute bitch to me and never listened to me when i asked for help. the care was horrible. the only good thing about this place was the juices plastic box things. it was supposed to be an all girls unit but two boys got moved in with us. they put a trigger box on the paper for you to fill out, even though they completely ignore it. i was supposed to only be 51/50'd (72 hour hold) but they kept me for longer and refused to tell me when i'd leave. im originally from oakhurst. they sent me all the way to fucking Fremont, and the only visitor that was able to see me was my brother and that was only for like 30 minutes. the deodorant smelt like cotton candy which was nice but the soap was terrible for your skin and hair. my skin got so dried and flakey that every day i had to lube my face up with fucking vaseline like i was in prison. vitals first thing in the morning along with blood draws, and when you first get there they have a little camera to take photos of any self harm marks on your body that you have. i had to have a screaming match with the MHTs for them to not photograph my body. because they print those photos and keep them in a book. absolutely fucking terrible. no one did anything about Lupita or Savannah bullying me and i hope if some form of staff reads this you remember who i am. read more

I am writing this update to finish out the remainder my earlier update now that a few days have passed. I tried to communicate with the charge nurse for the group that my partner was assigned to and during the middle of the call, she simply put me on hold with no warning and never came back to the phone. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I finally had to hang up and call the operator back to complain. Very unprofessional and rude behavior by a nurse. I also tried to call on a Tuesday, after visiting hours (which incidentally is 30 minutes only, 1 person per visit, 2 time slots, 2 times a week). The operator/front desk never picked up. The phone just rang and rang every attempt I made. This is supposed to be a 24-hour facility and I would expect that to be true of their front desk (a primary point of contact for people) as well. Apparently, I come to find out that everybody was in the cafeteria (which my partner says had such a strong odor of chlorine, that it was making him feel sick to his stomach). The reason for the staff ignoring the phone was because of "Spaghetti Tuesday", which apparently was more important that receiving calls. Finally, I get the message that my partner was to be discharged on the next day and I was asked if noon was OK by the case manager. I explained that I had an appointment I needed to keep that day in the afternoon and that noon would be fine. I expected that the hospital would have had everything ready to go when I arrived, but of course...it was anything but. I had to call several times to check in on the discharge progress and even after I conveyed the sense of urgency, they dragged their heels. Finally, 25 minutes later, I see the doors open and my partner is walked out in the same clothes he arrived in 4 days earlier with nothing but a bag. Nobody said anything to me about his follow-up care, medications or status. Nor did anyone apologize for delaying and delaying his release. Again, very unprofessional. I am expected to follow the hospital's rules and adhere to their procedures but when it comes to respecting the patient's rights (or mine for that matter), they make little to no effort. Integrity is all but lost on this facility and I still stand firmly behind my earlier review. I hope I never have to go through this again nor that my partner should ever have to endure something like this either, however, should it be the case, I will make sure to do everything in my power to see that he never sets one foot in this facility again. There is a fine line between negligence and ignorance and this place tiptoes over that line dangerously. For their sake, I hope they learn to be nimble. read more

If you have medical issues and need help showering they will take even weeks to shower you they put stuff in your head. I was on a 72 hour hold they made me feel crazy and left me there a whole entire month!! My greatest frustration with this facility is calling this place. I would call for 2-3 hours and nobody answers the call instead you get directed to a voicemail to leave a message but no one calls you back. I wonder what is the ratio of nurses to patients, do they have a clerk, does the MHT could answer the phone? if you need update for your patient, this place will definitely test your sanity! it's so frustrating ! Setting up a zoom meeting is almost impossible. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS FACILITY. In short (because I had to delete the previous review) my child, 13 year old was worse when she was released. Had I known, I would have pulled her out. This hospital has a very sketchy process. It seems that they will hold you just long enough to where they aren't breaking any laws. A 72 hour hold is 3 days. Not plus weekends and let's tack on a couple of days because we can. If the patient tells you they are fine, they have outside support, then what's the issue? I should've known when I spoke with a nurse the 1st day regarding the hold on my son, and she tells me that's it's almost never just 72 hours. They usually keep you at least 5 days. And here we are at the end of the hold, and I get a phone call saying they want to keep him the weekend, and 2 extra days. That was their whole plan from the beginning. They don't asses you privately, they just expect you to sleep and attend a group. I swear I wish that I could afford an attorney, because I would have one going after them right now. Also, please any hospital that only has contacted doctors because they want to avoid litigation or liability, shouldn't be open for operation. read more

I was a patient here a year ago. I was treated very well during my stay. It was very safe here. Though there was one fellow patient that had an issue. But I still felt safe as the staff controlled it very quickly. I took my medications every day that I was there. It usually happens in the evening. There are about a dozen rooms in each wing. I know from the count of other patients that I saw. I was fed three times a day in the cafeteria. The food was very good. The coffee and the other drinks was fresh. They even have a couple of vending machines. I even got to go outside once a day to enjoy the sun. Everyday I got to gym to either play basketball, play board games, or to color. In the day room, they will let you watch whatever you want as long as it is appropriate. Or even to play games. This is the best psychiatric hospital in my opinion and it is close to where I live. Definitely recommend it. P.S. I would ask a family member to take you here. It is better than waiting in the emergency room which is what I did as I waited two long days. read more

It's a real shame there are so many negative reviews for this wonderful facility. If it wasn't for Fremont Hospital and its staff I don't know where I would be. I don't think I would be living such a happy, joyful life today. I was in IOP and PHP for five months at Fremont Hospital, taking advantage of both in-service and online therapy. It was a very scary time in my life. I didn't know what to expect. Nothing like this had happened to me before. I did not realize I would be surrounded by the most caring, compassionate professionals whose goal was to help me get well. Every day they were always prepared with a valuable topic and were happy to support me with open arms, never judging. This kind of treatment is about you and taking full advantage of what they offer. I showed up every day, participated, and tried to help others. When I was online, I was always on camera. I made sure to pay attention, take notes, and use the tools I learned in class in my everyday life. I was also very satisfied with the way my medication was managed. I will always hear Dr. Tahn's voice in my head, saying, "Good morning awesome people!" She gets a special thank you from me for having the most impact on my life. Mr. Singh, my driver, was the most caring compassionate man I have ever met. We spent a lot of time together because I was picked up first and was last on the way home. We had many deep conversations and I learned a lot from him about life. This is a man who truly cares about his people, you are not just a warm body on a bus. I'll never forget him. Everyone is a teacher. I would not hesitate to recommend Fremont Hospital to anyone who is having a mental health crisis. My family and I feel extremely lucky that I wound up at this facility because at that time I was not able to make these kinds of decisions on my own, nor were they. Worst place to be in ER, they have security guards as you enter the ER department, they check you as you are going through airport security, they even ask ladies to open there purse an take things out .. December 1, 2023 I checked in and I am in pain instead of me checking in or asking me why I am there they go under everything else , this is ridiculous , seems like they have no other jobs , also in ER department they were only 2 registration people and they were very slow ... read more

It feels sometimes like it has been an entire lifetime since I stayed here and against my will at that due to an unforeseen emergent change in my mentation for the first time in my existence... This experienced occurred in March of 2017 completing in April 2017. I was awake more than I slept here and was here for about one week on an inpatient involuntary admission. It's interesting... While in an altered state of psychosis which I entered immediately following learning of my then husband's extramarital activities aka having affairs unannounced to me, that I've learned caused a change in my brain function as well as precious brain chemicals that before; kept me sane & healthy. Severe stress & anxiety both of which I was experiencing, science says can easily trigger the brain causing situations like this. I had zero idea that I was in an altered state which I now understand as being quite common when experiencing psychosis and I had become severely paranoid and stopped eating. Psychosis I've learned means that one has lost touch/contact with reality. It was to this very day, one of the most horrifying & scarring life experiences I survived. I endured & survived 5 different psychiatric hospital admissions @ 4 different medical facilities in California plus emergency room visits in 4 months due to this unfortunate situation. I also experienced more than one police car ride due to 5150's caused by involuntary psychosis behavior. From what I can recall, Fremont Hospital was really clean, well organized and always had plenty of staff behind the patient countertop who treated me and others respectfully & were always calm and kind. It was a quieter & more comfortable environment than the other facilities I stayed in during this time. I had my own room which was helpful. The place never stunk with odors such as human feces like the psychiatric hospital did in Sacramento where I stayed twice during the 4 months mentioned. The meals were alright & were served in a monitored cafeteria setting which I looked forward to even though I was nervous, knew no one & was experiencing paranoia. No fights nor arguments between staff or fellow patients occurred during my stay. I realize now in thinking about this experience that I was actually discharged while still in psychosis; out of touch with reality, and experiencing delusions and hallucinations. This happened during ALL of my hospitalizations & their discharges actually and all I wanted was to be released so I didn't say anything. Actually, that was a constant among all of the patients; we ALL were focused & maybe even fixated on being discharged & returning to our lives. All and all in the rearview mirror, this psychiatric facility was a safe one as they did keep me safe and from what I could tell they did the same to others also residing there. In closing, I wonder after all this lived experience if behavioral health facilities such as this have in place, a fact-finding "lived experience" program or survey gathering intel that includes mental health patients who are in active mental health recovery. Key: Not filling out the survey right away upon discharge. My review here would have been completely different if I had done so then. With time, I've noticed that I can see more than just my own viewpoint here including how my out-of-usual behavior may have affected how staff and fellow patients would have responded to me. The benefit of this could be that a better, more helpful & accurate plus a more well-rounded consensus of invaluable information could be gathered & utilized to implement more therapeutic, safe, and healthy environments & outcomes for both staff as well as a psychiatric patient. Not all of us are non-compliant in healthfully & responsibly managing the mental health cards we were dealt. In fact, those of us who do take responsibility for living a fulfilling, healthy & functioning member of society life has much to offer to the public in understanding not only what it is like to be an inpatient, live with the side effects of medication compliance & share our experiences with those in positions of power to implement positive change in all lives & maybe even increase positive, long-term outcomes overall which increase the quality of life; for all. Lastly, now looking back, I was not provided with any supporting information such as flyers, business cards etc. full of out-patient resources including contact information; phone number, email, online etc. Thank goodness I learned of NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness a non-profit health advocacy company with no-cost support groups and classes to attend & for me, volunteering has been invaluable for my mental health stability & self-worth. 4 years later, I still look forward to & attend this same NAMI Stanislaus support group each Monday eve which I began attending in late 2018. This is an area that needs to be addressed if it's the same as it was in 2017 at my discharge. read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD!!! i went here in 2021. i was 12 at the time. they would yell at us and not let us socialize properly, and whenever a worker would try and give us a little tiny bit of freedom to socialize properly, we could hear said worker being yelled at. only ONE NURSE was kind to me there and i am forever grateful for her. they restrain kids very quickly and even tho i was in the ALL FEMALE UNIT i was restrained by men twice my size. i was only 51/50'd (72 hour hold) not 51/50'd (14 day hold) and i was in there for 20 days. i couldnt leave until i "got better" as if they were helping me get better by calling me a waste of space and telling me someone else needed my place more than me. they treated most of the other kids poorly as well. they didnt give me the option to not go to a rehab (i didnt want to because i was using or abusing substances and i didnt want to go back to another one of these places) and they said it would be 1 week before i signed off my consent to go. i was informed AFTER I HAD BEEN IN THE REHAB FOR SEVERAL DAYS THAT IT WAS A MINIMUM OF 30 DAYS. please please PLEASE never send your kid there i am begging you. this place is horrible and ur kid wont be treated well and be traumatized. dont send them to a ward period. get them a proper therapist. ask them how their environment can change. if u have your own issues, go to family therapy. if they do go there isnt a guarantee theyll only be there for 72 hours. my mom called so so many times trying to get me out and they refused her every time even though my 72 hours had been up for almost a week. ive been trying to take legal action for years against this place and i redownloaded yelp to share my experience here. i hate you freemont and i hope you and all these other harmful hospitals get shut down. read more

came here when i was prolly around 14 and was here on valentine's day for about a week. for the most part it was better than being at home, but one time after i was having a nervous break down during lunch, they threw away my food, so when i was done throwing a fit, i couldn't even eat. and after a fight had broke out one time, they sent us all to our rooms for "lockdown" and didn't let us come out for the rest of the day. the staff there wasn't really a big problem, but the people and the environment are. almost felt like going to prison for stealing a candy bar while being stuck with murderers. when you're first admitted they have you strip down naked in front of them and change. let me have my shoes but no point since they stripped the shoe lacesmight aswell just hold onto them, we all wore socks anyways. oh and they would always tell me i'd be discharged soon or would let me make a call and would never do it. it's just to make you feel like there hope of getting out of that shithole. if u want to really change, don't come here. read more

This is the worst place to put a teenager, There's alot of unsafe things happening, kids are not being supervise, assault taking place everyday. There's no help for kids here, every time I call to get a hold of my daughter nobody will pick up the phone. The people that take care of kids are so unprofessional. In one incident a patient answer the phone, call 2 times nobody will pick up the phone. and they say there supervise, the day I took my daughter out there , there was an assault a girl being touch in appropriately.
