The lanes are clean and run well. Everything worked, good choices for house balls. The menu looked good but we didn't order food.

I'm vacationing in the thumb and looking for interesting things to see and do, so when a friend…read moretold me about the free history tours of the Saginaw River, I got myself a ticket. Super easy, right on their website. I boarded a cute riverboat and we set sail. The company limits the amount of passengers due to safety, so there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the cruise. There is also plenty of seating in the shade if you wish to avoid the sun. There are also bathrooms available, along with a small snack bar. You cannot take food/beverages on the boat. The cruise itself takes about two hours. I was on the downriver cruise, which runs MWF. The upbound cruise is Tu/Thurs. It's a very relaxing trip, and well-narrarated by someone pointing out the different sights and explaining the history of them. I learned a lot about Bay City! The cruise took us past the USS Edson - a naval ship that is also a museum itself. This is a very high traffic area for freighters, so you might get lucky and see one of our Great Lakes ships up close. We also went under 3-4 drawbridges which was cool, too. This was the first week for the tours, and I have to say that they did a fine job. I could sense the love and pride the people here have for their city, and that was awesome. Thanks for showing me a good time!

The staff was courteous and dutiful. The scenery was lovely. It was a fun and relaxing cruise. The rest of the group seemed to enjoy the band. Many were dancing. There was plenty of seating and space on the upper deck to view the river and bay. Our weather was perfect. A great time, we recommend.

I have been a part of a league here for many years (at least 5yrs) and the staff is awesome. I…read moreconstantly chat with owners Mel and Cheryl throughout the night and Dale and Lisa are great as well. They don't put up with attitudes or people abusing their lanes or equipment as they shouldn't and I can tell you from reading the other reviews that Mel took the "light" ball because it was probably an 8lb ball that 9 year olds use and people like to whip them down the lane as hard as they can. Don't slander a good business because you wanted to go abuse their alleys and got called out for it. As for the other review September 18, 2016 was a Sunday. Just like the mall (or any other business out there besides Meijer, Walmart, fast food and gas stations) they close earlier on Sundays. They weren't going to stay open just for you princess. As for the lanes, they are great. Authentic wood lanes and approaches lead to a consistent scores and plenty of TVs to catch the Wings or MNF. waitresses for the bar are good and attentive. A great experience for a league.

I was called an Asshole and was treated as though I was stupid during my experience here. You can…read moreread below for more details. My family and I went to Alert Lanes after deciding bowling was going to be a fun idea after Christmas, normally it would have been. After arriving and starting our games I noticed one of my shoes was decidedly more slippery than the other, causing me to fall more than once. That was no big deal, as all bowling alleys have multiple pairs of shoes. In taking them back up to the front and trying to exchange them I explained why I needed another pair. My reasoning was met with rude and passive aggressive behavior (with an undertone of "hey I think you're an idiot") from the female staff member. But being passive aggressive is not a reason to write a bad review, it got worse. We were starting our second game and my younger cousin and I decided to teach ourselves to curve the ball. Maybe not the smartest of moves, but we thought it would be fun. We chose a lighter ball as not to destroy our hands if we did it incorrectly. We tried it a few times and were actually very successful in doing that, 2 spares and a strike. Between turns the male staff member came up and without saying a word, took the light ball we had been using. We all marveled at this course of action considering we hadn't been rowdy at all. Once the games had ended we took our shoes up to the front and paid. I am a curious person and I had to know why they took the ball away. "Can I ask why you took the ball away from our lane?" The male staff member explained that the low weight balls were for little kids and that if they are thrown hard they can crack. I totally understood that reasoning actually, I just would have expressed that when I went to get the ball from a patron. I nodded and was walking back to grab my coat when I heard the female staff member lean over and say "because you're an asshole!". At this point my patience is gone, I look back quickly and ask "What was that now?!.. Excuse me?!" Immediate denial and butt covering ensued when her actions were questioned. Not such a happy holiday season at the local bowling alley this year it would seem.
