We brought a bottle of water for Ham, but it would be nice if they had water fountains here like they do at the other doggy parks. One thing I did notice this time though: the fence. Along one side of the fence, the bottom of the bars stick out and face in towards the dog run area. Just eye level for my little guy. It makes me nervous when the dogs are playing and run along it. I don't think they'd intentionally run right into it, but accidents happen. All fun and games, till someone loses an eye!

Despite being near a large road (100% safe, thanks to the big fences) he always felt at ease here. Is it the biggest, cleanest, most equipped dog run in the city? Far from it. Do they always have running water? Sorta. Is the super-steep stone stairwell at the entrance particularly easy to climb or walk down? Probably not, especially for the humans. But if you have a dog that wants to exercise and socialize a bit with other pups anywhere near the Midtown East area, this park is golden. There's almost always someone else there for your pet to see and greet, there's enough room to throw a ball/stick/frisbee around, and also benches for the owners to relax on. Plus enough trees and shrubbery for it to be more than just a concrete plot. It's a neat spot, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Worth the visit for sure.

I have walked by this park many times but had never seen it. This is because you need to look up to find it. It is 20 feet or more above the esplanade situated at the corner where the walk turns away from the Hudson towards Brookfield mall. .You can access the dog run from setback steps off the river walk or once you turn away from the river, there is a ramp. At the entrance to the dog run there are two gates.The second gate is a bit rusty and difficult to slide. Sirius run is for any size dog . Big and little dogs are all together. Since my dog Mickie is small, I was a bit concerned. All was fine and Mickie relaxed. The owners kept an eye on their dogs. The Park has a nice view of the Hudson and its arrangement next to a kids playground is nice.

This is the dog run for the Financial District. I've been bringing my dog here for about a year now…read moreand I don't see anything changing that for years to come. A little history. This dog run is named after PAPD K-9 Sirius #17. He was a bomb sniffing yellow lab who served in the World Trade Center. He died during the 9/11 attacks when Tower Two collapsed. His body was recovered and he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. There used to be a plaque that explained all this, but I'm not sure where it went. It's not the largest dog run I've been to, but it's a decent size for most dogs. There's no partition so small and large dogs play together. It's paved, which I prefer to using gravel for the ground. There are two hills and one crater that fills up with water and becomes a pool. It automatically drains itself as well. There's a two-level water fountain off to the side. One level for dogs and one for people. I have often seen someone spray the pavement down with a hose at night, so I know this dog run is definitely cared for. There are nice benches all along one side. Overall it's a very nice-looking dog park. The park itself is elevated a bit so you can look out on to the plaza and the North Cove Marina. There's nothing like spending an hour or so enjoying the afternoon with your dog overlooking the water and people watching. I think what really makes this an enjoyable experience though, is the people. The other dog owners are courteous and friendly. There's a sense of community among the regulars. If you live downtown, this is the place to bring your dog!
