This was a nice peaceful place they had a pool Which my kids loved playing in that also had a park but you have to be 10 and under they also had a sandbox where my kids where if they weren't in the pool. That also have a decent spot for your dogs to use the restroom and play at they even had a little walking trail for the dogs it was pretty. They people were very nice and friendly. The only real issue I had was the roads getting there but that's not their fault. The roads there are narrow and winding. But we made it just fine and we enjoyed our stay we would definitely stay here again.

We have been traveling across the country from Texas to Utah and then Utah to Pennsylvania and we have stayed at mostly KOA's and this KOA was the worst of the worst, bad bathrooms with only 1 shower curtain and no privacy. This park also wins the award for most unlevel sites. You do have to go down a very narrow winding road through a neighborhood to get to this park, it looks like it's right off the highway but it is not. Also, the road noise will probably keep you up most of the night. We stayed here for one night and then moved to the south east Pittsburgh KOA which is much much better.

Can you see the A-frame office and interstate down the hill :)

We resrved and paid online. Stayed 4-8. The store was closed and our papers with map and site were in the box, yay! The road up was steep and bumpy to turn around and go down to our site. Site was level enough to not unhook. The water standpipe and pump were plugged in and insulated for us. Being MN nice I pulled out the KOA map to direct a local pizza delivery drive to the correct site :) Pet friendly! The store was a steep walk or many steps down. Freeway noise and vibrations I barely noticed.

As you can see all tent sale sites are on a slope. Annoying to sleep on a hill but we managed.

This place was average at best. They put my campsite on a slope which sucked. It's hard to set up your tent on an incline and sleeping on a hill is even worse because my mattress would slide down during the night

Our camping area - next to a pile of fire rings and picnic tables pushed together... behind the pavilion with the lights on all night.

We generally will go the extra few miles for a KOA, but this one wasn't worth it. Nearly impossible to navigate in a motor home.

The road to get to the campground was winding and very dark but when we arrived we saw a beautiful campground with paved spots. There are no amenities with only a vault toilet and water pump. Still the sites were nice and large. You pass several shooting ranges on the way to the campground. There is also a trail that loops around the campground.

Here are trash bins, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site, plus a well-blazed trail edging the campground. There are pit toilets in the center of the ring that do smell like free campground pit toilets, but they are far enough from the campsites that you'll be okay even on a hot summer day, especially if you're a ping with a self-contained unit. Our site had a great mix of field and tree cover with raspberries or other bramble fruits lining the campground. Hummingbirds, cardinals, nuthatches, and a concert of fireflies were fun to watch. The free part is especially good since there are pigeon, rifle, and handgun target ranges outside the camp loop, and you do hear them even on a Monday. And first thing Tuesday morning. This is a dry campground in every way so bring your own water. If you aren't target practicing, use your red cup and don't act like a rookie. About half the sites were in use the Monday night we stayed. Despite the ballistic sounds, the camp loop was quiet, and we had a very restful stay.

The campsite bathroom was clean, well stocked and regularly maintained. All of the employees at the trading post were friendly as well! Park rangers drove around regularly (4-5 time through the campsite a day I'd say). My only wish would be adding closure information onto the website so people know ahead of time. During our visit the main overlook was under construction/maintenance so there was no access to it. Which was a little disappointing since it looks beautiful online! But it was a short 5 minute walk out to the overlook so it was easy to get back to a different trail. (It is clear the individuals who work and manage the park take great pride in it, and take care of the facilities wonderfully!).

The Ravens Rock trail has a beautiful outlook with cool, large rock structures. And the rock city trail was super fun too! The free maps of all the trails are very helpful. Some blazes could've been marked a bit clearer and some signs for trail heads could be adjusted as well. There is limited parking at trail heads so be sure to get there early to beat the crowds. The trading post was a fun addition with Coopers Rock merch, stickers (our personal fav), some local goods, firewood, some camping supplies, and even some ice cream treats! Overall we had a really nice stay!

I've been visiting this place for years and had met many kind, friendly and helpful fellow visitors. I cannot say the same for that ranger - I hope y'all never come across her in your effort to find clarity on directions. My favorite areas of Raccoon Creek are the beach and the mineral springs. When the area water levels aren't low, you'll also see a beautiful 10 foot waterfall adjacent to Frankfort Mineral Springs. The beach is lovely in all seasons, but if you can catch it during the peak of Fall foliage. The many colors of the trees reflecting from the lake surface is quite the sight! There's a boat rental and the rates are very reasonable. There's also a very large picnic area with dozens of tables, plenty of parking and restrooms.

For example, there's a concession stand that has some fire food and there's Wibits on the lake but for the people how don't want to get their hair wet or go underwater in a lake like me, there is also public lake access for swimming to. There is also peddle boats that you peddle on the lake which give you a good view of the lake without having to rent a expensive pontoon boat. They also have kayaks. And they have peddle carts on land for fun travel around the park but me personally I've never used them but they look quite fun. The vibe there is also very good and campfire rings are included with each site though they are kinda dirty so I'd recommend rapping tin foil around food before cooking. The bathrooms do have washing machines and there is a vending machine that is like 50 cents I think and it has washing machine stuff. Just so yall know if your bringing your bike just know that most of the park is rock so it may be a bit hard to ride on. Same with dogs, the rocks may be a bit hard on their paws so just walk them in the grass until there's pavement. Also there is a bigfoots big ride every Saturday night which is a tractor hauling this long wagon with benches in it and it is quite fun. The camp store is well stocked and has some camping must haves like wood and such. The creek behind silk stocking is a great spot for fishing just make sure to release the fish afterwards since they are Austin lake's property. Overall though the park is clean and the bathhouses are nice though since the location is so out-of-no-where the water is very preserved and costs 50 cents for 10 mins but if you go in your RV/Cabin it's free. Also tents are allowed as long as it's just one that is the max.

The size of the bunk beds were great! Mattress itself wasn't terrible, but wasn't comfy either (not a big deal at all). Each bedroom has one bathroom and shower. The sink is directly across from the bunk beds but the weird thing is that there used to be towel bar holders there - so no places to hang your wash clothes, hand towels etc. The kitchen is nice and has a gas stove, but this did not come with a stove light and fan. Another thing to note is that the deadbolt to the front door had no deadbolt - there was no bolt hub or bolt extension it was honestly the bolt face plate and thumb turn. Good thing the door knob locked with no issues The water park has 4 slides, a pirate water park, 2 pools(one pool had 2 basketball hoops) and arcade. Honestly I wouldn't waste the money in the arcade, but the water park and pools were great! The pool and water park were open from 1100-1900, we got there right when it opened and managed to have 4 lounge pool chairs. Definitely get there when it opens because as it gets later in the day it fills up quick! There were people laying in the grass because all the seats and tables were taken. The food was excellent! We got 20 wings, cheesesteak, grilled cheese, BLT, fries all around $40. The remainder of the time we spent there we cooked our food in the cabin kitchen and outdoor grill. I would recommend renting a golf cart. It's just easier to get around. We took the golf cart to a tractor ride, the playground right near the gate, mini golf, the ice cream shop, and overall was fun to just drive around and explore the campground. This was honestly the perfect small close getaway before the kids went back to school.
