Owner Tom Boulanger arrived on my doorstep in north Burien with an "extra asphalt" story, claiming they had some leftover from a street paving project in my neighborhood. He gave me a price to add and compact asphalt to about half of my driveway that day. He then was gone for a few hours, which indicated to me that they did not have extra asphalt but instead were soliciting for work. He then paved about a tenth of the area and said that was what he was doing for the price he had given me for the entire project. He continued to pave the half to which I had agreed then overcharged me on both price per square foot and total area covered. I paid him anyway and have regretted it ever since. Avoid this company and the owner!

We contacted Paul Taufalele at Zion's Concrete when our first contractor was unable to complete the…read morerather complex job of lifting our 20' X 45' historic commercial storefront, removing the crumbling foundation and pouring a new foundation to straighten and preserve the building another 100 years. Few contractors are willing to take on an unfinished job someone else has botched, but Paul was "excited by the challenge". We hired him on the spot. The next day, his crew cleared all dirt and debris from the neighbor's yard that contractor #1 left for 6 months while blaming another company. We were so glad to have Paul and his energetic and happy crew go to work! He fully excavated after building a safety wall and mono-poured the entire foundation in one day! Our friends came to admire his work and tell us how good it was. (our friends used to work for the city planning department, so they know what they're talking about!). Of the different contractors I spoke with, Anthony seemed to have the best grasp of what we wanted. The final execution is not exactly how we originally envisioned it, but close enough. How could is the workmanship, only time will tell. I was concerned about the lack of detail in the cleanup. Loose rocks scattered around the yard and along the walkway. The one that really got me was finding a chunk of concrete buried in a planting bed. I was not able to be around to hover over the workers as my wife would say, but it doesn't hurt. We are happy with the finished project and being able to wheel the lawnmower easily from the front to backyard, made it all worthwhile.
