We originally had our service with Air Capital Waste. I understood that money mismanagement caused them to sell and Waste Connections bought them. Originally, they kept our quarterly amount the same which was the best in Wichita. Then, as of this writing, jacked our cost up $9.45 per quarter with no notification. I had heard that WC is notorious for gouging some folks. This price isn't a gouge, but there was no notice and the price is the going rate for most local waste companies. Well played. I couldn't get anyone to bet me they would do this in the first 6 months. They made it after one billing cycle. If they keep raising the cost as most reviewers state, my choice will be easy. read more

I paid my bill and they decide not to pick up my trash to charge me an extra $35 because I paid the bill the night before I don't care if it was a second before I paid my bill. Melinda kept giving me the runaround getting very emotional on the phone because of "policies". I pay you so you want me to pile my trash outside of my house yeah I don't know who owns this company, but it's obvious of what they want and how they treat their customers. This just leads to a long argument on the phone once you get a live person. They have not picked up our trash now for over a month and they always have an excuse, blaming us for their driver not getting us picked up. Almost every quarter they raise their rates. My neighbors all pay a different rate for the exact same service as we have most are a lot lower than I am paying, yet they are unhappy and are looking elsewhere for a new service. I called WM about this and got a runaround and they said nothing that they can do about it. Pricing should be the same for all customers. They are very smug with their attitude. We went from $75 - $175 a quarter which I feel like I am being gouged. If we had 2- 3 carts I might understand a little more but we only use 1. Stay away from this service. read more

Worst. Customer Service. Ever. They charge you $15 to cancel your service and then another $25 to come pick up THEIR OWN DUMPSTER. I will never, ever use Waste Connections again. People in Wichita and the surrounding areas should definitely go with locally owned ICT Trash. However, shortly after, I learned that Waste Connections had acquired them. My first invoice post-acquisition was nearly double what I had previously paid, prompting me to cancel again--twice in one year. To add to the frustration, I was later informed of an additional $45 fee to remove a trash container I had already paid to have picked up during my initial cancellation. I was initially told this fee would be waived, only to be informed later that the waiver had been rescinded. This back-and-forth has been confusing and disappointing. I have never heard of a company sending a letter stating that they were going to waive a fee and then changing their minds as if there is a vendetta against our small business..... To clarify: I did not sign a new contract with Waste Connections after the acquisition. I paid all requested fees to end my service the first time. I paid for six months of service I didn't use, and then paid again for service through a company that was later acquired by the same provider. I've tried to resolve these issues directly and respectfully, but the experience has left me feeling frustrated and unheard. I'm sharing this not out of malice, but to raise awareness for other small business owners who may be considering their options. Very poor customer service. They bought out the company I was doing business with. There was no way to find out what the pick up date was. I found it under bill pay while I was waiting over 20 min. on the phone. There web site is a mess. When I called was 56 in line when I hung up I was still 16th after 22 min. Absolutely terrible customer service, missed pickups, when you ask for a refund for there missed pickups because you pay for a service that failed to provide they say they unable. Ask for a supervisor and they place you on a long hold only to get back on the phone and tell you they will call you back but fail to do so. Most BS trash service in Wichita. I was with Air capital, and when they got bought out, I was in the middle of a move. I tried to transfer my service to the new house and thought everything was good based on the conversation I had on the phone. The lady asked if I had a can, I said yes, and she told me I could just take it with me considering I was moving next door. The first 3 weeks I had them they completely left bags on the corner; I had to call for them to come back to make it right. They finally grabbed everything. From August until now (January) I had thought I was being billed. I came home after putting my bin on the curb, only to find my bin missing. I call in and they tell me the service is under my landlord's name and that I need to call him to relinquish his service. I do. They tell him to have me call in to get my bin back and that I wouldn't be charged the $25 fee. I call in and they tell me that I have a collections fee from back in 2014 that needs to be paid and that there will be a charge to process this as well. A complete communication breakdown on every front. Why didn't they bring up my past fees when I was trying to transfer to my new address? I didn't even know I had anything from that time period, and why tell me the transfer of service was good if it wasn't? I was on file, I received nothing in the way of a call, nothing in an email stating that any action needed to be taken or that an account was never made for the new address. My landlord has been paying for my trash service from August until now. If this wasn't a needed service, I have no doubt that this company would go under. I have been with this company for about 6 months, and it's just been a mess. I am now waiting on a new bin when I would have just paid the past due balance or pay for the service for the past few months that I haven't had an active account with them? This all feels like very avoidable things, and it wasn't. They continue to drop the ball. If you have the ability to choose anyone else, I would because you won't be dealing with a company that knows what they're doing. read more

I am a former Air Capital customer. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service from this company. Until today I had never had to reach out to them. After today I will never reach out to them again. I had a 40 gallon outdoor trash to pick up the allowed extra bags for driver convenience. Today my trash can is gone. I was told I put it out there at my own discretion and nothing can be done if it is dropped into the truck. This will never happen again because I am not going to replace it just to help out with convenience for the drivers just to lose it and be told nothing can be done. Very unhappy. Apparently they changed my pick up day, but I never received that notice. They sent out an automated message saying that my days were changing the night of the changed date! When the sale of Air Capital Waste connections was completed I received a letter in the mail, a postcard in the mail, and a voicemail sent to my phone. I was even sent another letter in the mail detailing how I was supposed to change over my automatic pay out of my bank to be drafted. I think some of these people just want something to complain about. And then they take it out on the customer service reps who are just saying and doing what the company wants them to do. They don't go pick up trash, they did not change the service and they did not buy the company from the other company. So quit cussing out the customer service reps quit being horrible human beings to people who are just trying to do their job.Could things have been done better absolutely. I don't like to do reviews in the first place, but I've been a loyal customer for over 7 years, since May '22 my rate has increased from $60.60 for 3 months to $95.18 for Nov. '23. THAT"S A 57% INCREASE in 18 months!! And to add Insult to Injury they stick you with a $25 pickup fee for the dumpster, unless you want to load it up and haul it to them. They suck! Fire them! They stole and destroyed my 32 gal recycle cart! Waste connections recently bought Air Capital Waste which bought Ballinger Trash a few years ago. They have picked up my cart with no problems for ~ 15 years. I have video of the truck picking up my cart with the mechanical arm, lifting it over the big hopper and dropping it in. Then the arm picks up the other recycle bin, (their property) empties it properly and drives off. I called customer support and they say they're not responsible for damage or loss of customer containers. I will be firing them. read more

Good service should be acknowledged. My garbage is picked up by Waste Connections of Canada. My driver is Mr. Ross Down. Someone had placed a bag a orange/red paste looking stuff in my garbage cart that when emptied, smeared all over the street and inside the garbage cart. Ross took the time to clean up the mess, (even though it wasn't something he should have to do). I have to believe he has hundred of pickups a day that needs to get done, so taking the extra time slowed him down. If there is a holiday in the week they don't pick up your trash until the following week. But you want charge me 144.00 every 3 months! They suck! I rather burn my trash instead of dealing with them! I have 4 neighbors all in close proximity to my residence, 1 neighbor is paying $121 every 3 months for 1 can, another neighbor is paying $150 every 3 months for 2 cans, another is paying $185 every three months for 1 can, another is paying $200 every 3 months for 1 can and I am paying $181 for 1 can. When I started this, I as paying $85 every 3 months. There were times when none of us had our trash picked up and was sent a lame excuse and basically told us "we will be back next week, bye". After visiting the local landfall and dumping a truck full of trash for $4, I have decided to burn my trash and take it to the local landfill. They miss your pickup, you call them at 8am to report pickup. You know they were by because your neighbors across the street had theirs picked up. They say the truck is in the area and have sent them a note to return for pickup with a caveat, it could be up to 6 PM before they return. They never returned. talk with chat at 5 PM to see where they were but unfortunately they couldn't look at anything for Wichita Kansas. But they said they should be there. Contacted them on Monday morning at 8 AM and I get the excuse that the driver got sick then I got an excuse that the truck broke down. The girl was rude unprofessional and it was my fault that the truck broke down or the guy got sick I don't know but she was rude and hung up on me. This seems to be with them when they miss a pick up they make you wait until the next pick up date but they collect your money and good service I don't think this good service. my trashcan is still sitting where it was. Their staff is extremely rude. Rosemary was the name of the "lady" I spoke with. I paid online for my trash service which I'd had for 15 yrs, which i have never done before. Long story short, they took my cans. I called up there to explain what had happened, and this person kept cutting me off while I was speaking. I asked to speak to a manager, and she said, no. Lol. Apparently she's out of town for a week. I asked to leave a message, again she said no. Said I'd have to call back. EXTREMELY rude. She needs another job, something not in CUSTOMER service. If you live in Wichita I recommend that you search out another option than Waste Connections. They're office staff and unprofessional. You never know if and when they will come, your bill will constantly change I've had to call multiple times for my HOA rate and everytime there is some reason they claim its wrong before they fix it. If you have it set up for auto pay with your bank the bills will not come in until after they are due (at least with BOA). If you have to speak to someone they will be rude and everything will be your fault. They take no responsibility for anything. I spoke to a representative named Charity who had an attitude from the moment she got me on the phone. Looks like from other reviews this is a theme, and they need some customer service training. You can deliver information without being condescending and rude. read more

I have used Waste Connections for the past 18 months. Today I finally cancelled my service with them. They have HUGE back office problems. They are sloppy & unprofessional! The local (Wichita) Customer Service Rep blames Dallas on their slow/poor billing (Statement date 15th, due date 10th, invoice received on 21st) but is unable/unwilling to do anything except argue & defend their sloppiness. Moreover, they "suspended" my service less than 3 weeks after I received their invoice but then left an automated/recorded message 4 days later threatening to disconnect my service. Seriously? Left hand doesn't know what the right is doing and no one empowered to do the right thing from a customer service perspective. I really wish I could give negative reviews. there is re paving on my road currently. i live on a corner lot so I put the cans on the side street, next to my neighbors. maybe 40-50 feet away. they not only completely skipped my cans completely, and picked everyone else's up, but the driver drove through cones and drove on the freshly paved part of the road with complete disregard to the closure. I called and talked to a supervisor who's only "solution" was to pick it up all next week on my normal trash day... I asked about a partial refund, she said she can't do that since I'm billed through the city. I asked where she expected me to store my trash for a week... no answer. she said "I'll look into it".... Never had a problem!!! Waste Connections has always been very good to us. We have been with them for over 10 years and Yes they have raised their rates over that time. Who hasn't? Our container is sometimes over flowing and the lid is not shut tight. NO PROBEM! We have left up to 8 extra bags (nicely closed up) besides our container and all bags have aways been picked up. Once we left a bundle of twigs (again nicely tied up with a rope handle) NO PROBLEM! We live in East Wichita and I just left a good review for our driver on their site. I don't know why all the rates are different though. We pay $85 for three months. We don't do the recycle thing. Thats only $7 per pickup. in this day and age we don't think that's bad. read more

Bad bad service! Waste connections came inside my property to my back yard to take their container while I was at the hospital. They said the container Was theirs so they had the right to take it. For charged $74 get to back and not even an apology for coming in my house without my consent. Then I decided suspend their service and got charged another $75 dollars to get their trash from my home again. Poor customer service. I called twice in one day about canceling my service. I made sure that the $197 owed for the next three months would not be charged. They assured me it was not. Just a $25 cart pickup fee. Then today, two weeks later, the $197 was debited from my checking account. I called and they told me that it was my responsibility to stop auto pay. Fine, except that no one told me that when I canceled service. When I asked if I'd be charged the $197, no one said I should stop auto pay. This put our family in a hardship at the holidays. The employee never offered an apology. She kept saying it was my responsibility and that she wasn't required to ask if I had autopay. A heads up about canceling auto pay, whether I had it or not, should be required when a customer ends service with them. I will never recommend Waste Connections. Their prices went up $40(!!!!) since our last bill. And the customer service was handled poorly. Now we have to wait 10-12 weeks for a refund check to arrive in the mail. read more

I had been a customer since 2015, and they hiked the price of residential service from 66.75 to 83 from 2021 to 2022. So I called and asked if there was anyway they could decrease the price for me, or give a discount. They said there is nothing they could do. So I went to another provider, and that quoted at 69 dollars, so I called to cancel with waste connections, and the same lady on the phone said they they can suddenly price match, but it was too late since I had signed up with the other service. What I didn't know was we sign a residential agreement with waste connections that automatically extends every 36 months, and they will charge 75 dollar to cancel in addition to the 25 dollar to pick up the cart! They did not pick up our trash for two weeks because a stick was sticking out of the trash can, "the lid must shut completely". Now for three weeks in a row they did not pick up on Tuesday, which is the scheduled day, "because holidays then the weather" but no one reached out to let us know.
