Over the past 2 years, Waste Management has tanked! I've lived in my home for 20 years and I've never been so frustrated. It's Impossible to reach anyone by phone and the stupid app. is a waste of time. I called to speak to someone regarding my missed service and a replacement can. I waited on hold until the automated system asked me if I wanted to get a callback. . . because as always WM was supposedly experiencing "High-call-volumes and long wait times!" I agreed to the callback and when I finally received a call back, it was the automated system again! I was placed back on hold and began waiting AGAIN!! I finally got so irritated that I hung up. . . which is probably what they hope customers will do. Trash pickup now means that there will be trash strewn throughout the streets and employees don't bother to pick it up, customer service is nonexistent, and good luck to anyone who is trying to cancel service! Waste Management considers a barely lifted lid as "over filled" and subject to a $3.98 charge. The dumpster was easily picked up mechanically, no extra time for the driver (except maybe to take the picture) and there was no chance of the trash falling out. I think this is really unreasonable and tried to contact them to discuss the issue. They use digital response emails for their "customer care". They even show a name for the digital representative so it took a second email with exactly the same response for me to realize they're using AI for customer service. Three weeks ago, Waste Management not only picked up my trash but picked up the can it was contained in (a $41 Rubbermaid Brute can). This week, I finally got a brand new can ($30 this time). On the first pick up, they again took my brand new can. My wife was able to catch the truck. The driver apologized but said he could not get the can out of the truck and to call the office which I did. Best they could do was give me a $30 credit ($15 for each can lost) and suggest I get one of their can at a small increase in price for service. I agreed to try that but not exactly what I wanted. read more

I have used Waste Management for my trash service for almost twenty years without issue. My trash, recycling and yardwaste have always been picked up, except one time, and that was just recently. I called to report the missed pickup and was told that the driver had noted that my container was not out for service. Since I've always put it out the night before, I explained to the representative that I have a small cart and someone had put their big blue recycle cart in front of it, so it was likely that the driver didn't see it. They sent someone out to pick it up the next day. I've always paid my bill using auto pay through my bank, so I've never had a billing or payment problem. I read the literature that Waste Management sends out, and follow all of their guidelines when putting out recyclables, trash and yardwaste. If you follow the rules, it's not difficult at all to receive excellent service from this company. read more

Not customer service oriented. Nickel and dime you for residential service. If the lid isn't all the way closed on your can, it's an automatic surcharge. So if someone throws their trash in your can when it's already full and on the street: you get charged more. So what you do is smash everything so your lid closes. Then when they come around to pick up, the stuff stuck in the bottom of your can doesn't come out and they don't care. They will charge YOU to come back out. Or you just have half a can to use for the next week. Nowhere near the caliber of Republic Services. Wish they were out here instead. read more

WM didn't pick up my garbage on its assigned pickup day even though it was placed on the curb the night before. The driver reported it wasn't out. He lied. I called and arranged for pickup the next day. Didn't happen. The person I talked to didn't schedule it right according to the supervisor I spoke to next. Still didn't happen. Talked to the supervisor again. He said the dispatcher cancelled the pickup due to unavailable capacity . They refused to pick it up until the next scheduled pickup day. First I call them and book a dumpster 30 yards to be delivered on the next Tuesday... I get a call on Friday from WM... the woman says I'm sorry... the guy who booked your dumpster did not look at the schedule and we have no dumpster until next Friday... 9 days later... I said ok but I needed it on Tuesday because that is when I have people who can come to my house and get all the heavy stuff and fill it... she says I can give you ten dollars off... for the four days you will have it early..$4.62 a day for every day you have it... I'm like ok I guess.... Friday comes they bring us a 20 yard dumpster... if you look up there you can see we ordered a 30 yard dumpster almost 100 bucks more because we knew we had more then a 20 yard will hold... I called and told them and they said they would make it right lol today I called them to tell them that we were ready for them to come get the dumpster and empty it and bring it back.. they said they would not charge us for the bringing it back because they messed up on the size. So anyways I called today to have it picked up and the guy says I'm sorry we can not pick it up till next Tuesday... today is Wednesday... so six days.. and that we have to pay the 4.62 a day for their not being able to pick it up and then on top of that they would not be able to bring it back until it was rescheduled.. How the hell do companies who have such horrible service survive.. they do it by being a monopoly... the guy says you were told all of this before you ordered it.. NO I was not told we had to pay for every day waste management was unable to come get it because of their horribly run company could not come get it.. we were not told that we would have to pay for days extra because their employee would not even look at the schedule and we were not told you would screw up yet again and bring the wrong size of dumpster and then tell us we have to again pay for all the days you conveniently can not pick it up.. What a horrible experience I told them I do not want them to bring it back.. We recently moved here from Los Angles and needed to get things taken care of. Called Waste Management to come pick up all of our cardboard boxes from our furniture delivery. First off, they DID NOT show up on the Monday that we had scheduled. Then the driver claimed we he "took what he could" because we didn't break down the cardboard boxes enough(but he never showed up) They tried to charge us to come out again and gave us a hard time but we spoke to a Mgr and they sent out another person. Well today that truck came by, I was arriving home from dropping off my son and watched two big men take only a few things and threw it into the back of the truck and left!!!!!! 90% of my cardboard boxes and debris was still there. My husband called and was sooo pissed!! Apparently we didn't break down the boxes enough and stacked them neatly!!! I can't even believe this! How is it that two men could not just take 3 mins to throw some boxes into the back of the truck???????? We broke down ALL of the boxes but did not have them stacked on top of each other.... why??? Because they fall over anyways!! The way they were was not bad. And they tried charging us for work that they did not do!! And if that's the only reason they had to not take our cardboard is a damn shame!!!! How about provide some acceptable service and do your jobs! If we were two elderly people that couldn't break down those boxes and stack them then what kind of service would this be?? Even their customer service representatives are incompetent it seems. We are very reasonable people and all we wanted was to have our debris picked up... how does it get to this point? Someone isn't doing their job..... if I could give a zero I would... this has been a such a pain. Now they offered to send someone out to show us how to break down our boxes and stack them.. I thought this was a joke.. this is a waste of time to pay someone to come out here just for that! A neighbor's trash can blew down the road in a wind storm. I prominently displayed the can for them to find it, but nobody claimed the can. I called Waste Management to come pickup the can. They came and picked up not only that can, but took my trash bin and my recycling bin as well. I called the company and they said they would return the bins within two business days. It is now four business days, and the company claims they may provide the bins after the next trash and recycling pickup dates. I am now supposed to just pile the trash and go out and buy recycling bags and pile them on the street. I am told that they do not have sufficient bins to cover their customer's needs at the moment and that I will just have to deal with it. I encourage a budding entrepreneur to develop a competitive solution to Waste Management and put them out of business. No company should provide such terrible customer support. Uber took business away from cab companies who were late, or no shows, provided overly expensive cab rides, and rude drivers, by providing fast reasonably cheap and polite drivers. I canceled our waste management services on 9/8/2020. I was told first the recycle can would be picked up on 17th of Sept. and then trash can on Oct 1st. They had to be picked up on the days of actual service, no next week etc. Must be the days WM does pickup for our location. Then I got an email after the 17th telling me that pick up would be 9/24, then 10/1, then 10/8 and then 10/15. I figured no pickup of cans after a month was long enough. I'm tired of the games this company plays. So being fed up with this company's behavior I took the cans to the Spokane Valley, WA location of 11321 E Indiana. Of course the customer service doors were locked with the COVID-19 excuse. So I went to a side door ( with a server ticked off attitude) and pounded on the door, then the window. A very patient kind gentleman answered the pounding and took the garbage can and recycle can after letting me vent. Thank you to the gentleman and poop on waste management. read more

Not only are they charging us for both recycling and a garbage bin which they have not provided for three weeks now, they offer no remorse and no discounts for having to keep my garbage in my garage with no bins. They have told us four times that we should receive the bins and yet every week at collection there are no bins. They are charging me for a service which they are not providing. And when I called very upset to the fact after dealing with this for almost a month, I received nothing but rudeness, shortness and no care for the struggle they have put my family through not having trash bins. Even after being put on with the manager. I have two kids in diapers, the stench of my garage that I am having to deal with due to their horrible service is awful. Called mid Feb. for very large tractor tire pickup, was quoted rates, advised would be scheduled when weather improved. Called mid March to question if scheduled, advised no. Rep was intolerably aloof. It took three times repeating myself for her to understand (I thought) what I was requesting. Called back again same day (due to concern with prev. rep not getting the info correct) and was told pick up was scheduled, but for TRUCK tires. Rep said would forward to another dept. to verify tractor tires qualify. Received call back next day advising no, tractor tires not something they will pick up. Summary-management doesn't teach their rep's how to access what is or isn't qualified for pickup, and one of the three reps I spoke to was totally unqualified to be a phone rep (a job I myself have had). My final call was to advise a manager of my situation; after all, they can't fix a problem they don't know about. Manager said all the right sorry words without any empathy and when I asked for compensation for losing a month's time and spending four useless phone calls I was not surprised that I was denied.
