I am just checking in will update my review later but ambiance, service and waiting patiently to try the food I saw on a reels *Update* I was super excited to do this update thanks to the California Bucket lists reels that enabled me to come back and try new dishes I never had ordered before at Pink Pepper. My favorite dishes will have to be the Shrimp Tom Ka soup get a pot and a side of rice because your going to enjoy the pot rather than the small soup trust me on this delicious! I also really enjoyed the Chicken Pad Ka the server recommended since I came in showing her all the items I wanted to try on the reels. She was really sweet and helpful and her recommendation was perfect since I did not want Pork that night either way these two dishes were my favorite. I was really full by the time I got to tasting the short rib, but I still had a bite and the meat fell off the bone and noodles were crunchy and that gave it such a great textural taste. Lastly, the Banana dessert I'm biased about because I'm big on anything banana related so I loved the crunch and softness inside the dessert. Reminded me much of Turon which I love just with an addition of ice cream that made it a whole lot better! Overall loved my whole experience I cannot wait to come back for the soup on cold winter days that soup will be much needed.

I know I just found my new favorite Thai restaurant. The Khao Sou Beef is absolutely outstanding, cooked to perfection, flavorful, and unforgettable! Love the papaya salad, ordered it mild no chili. First time here, we only ordered two items just to see if we liked it and we absolutely loved it! Kudos to Natalie, who not only took our order, delivered our food, clean tables to a full restaurant, we never felt neglected! Customer service, outstanding!!! parking garage located in the back, restaurant will validate for two hours. We will definitely be back, see you soon Natalie!

    Khao soi Seafood Curry Udon

Food: We ordered the Khao Soi Beef Short Rib and the Khao Soi Seafood Curry Udon, both arrived with stunning, very Instagram worthy presentation that immediately stood out. The bowls were generous and hearty, filled with tender chunks of meat, lots of seafood, and a good amount of noodles that made them feel indulgent and comforting. Between bites and conversation, the flavors leaned deeply savory and rich, though for my personal taste they ran a little on the salty side. Still, the quality and care in the dishes came through, and I imagine they'd be even more enjoyable with lighter seasoning and a slightly calmer pace to fully take everything in. Price: Pink Pepper falls into a fairly standard Hollywood pricing range for Thai comfort food. The Khao Soi Beef Short Rib is around $18.50, while the seafood noodle dishes typically hover in the $19-22 range, depending on the protein and preparation. Expect about $20-30 per person before drinks, which feels reasonable given the generous portions and quality of ingredients. Ambiance: We sat outside on the balcony, as one of the party had a very small dog along with them. I can't speak to the inside dining room, but the outdoor seating was actually quite pleasant, spacious, comfortable, and temperature‑wise just right. It's positioned right next to the road, so there's street noise, but it didn't feel overwhelming and worked well for a longer meal. Service: Service was good and kind, though a bit slow. It appeared that only one person was handling most of the front‑of‑house duties, so there were some mild noticeable gaps between check‑ins, ordering, and food arrival. That said, nothing felt rude or dismissive, just understandably stretched thin. Overall, patient and friendly service. Parking: Parking was unfortunately the most frustrating part of the visit. We parked in the structure behind the restaurant, assuming it would be free or at least validated. Even after confirming validation with our server, we still ended up paying around $16 for parking after staying roughly 2-2.5 hours. A heads‑up here would've helped, as it was an unwelcome surprise at the end.

Good Thai food restaurant. We ordered the signature dishes. We will stop by again if we are in town.

During Happy Hour, they have amazing prices on appetizers and drinks! Highly recommended for a great deal right off Hollywood Boulevard. It's a great place to head to before a movie screening at TCL Chinese Theater like we do! It's right around the corner and I wish more tourists would get off the chains on the main strip and scurry over here. Their crab wontons are fantastic! Nicely crisped by the deep frying and plump, full of cream cheese and real dungeness crab. Would get again for sure. After reading reviews, I found a common theme that the Khao Soi here is highly regarded - some even calling it the best in LA! I concur it is delicious with several protein options~ I enjoyed the crispy chicken in mine. Great portion size, very spicy, and very delicious. This Northern Thailand dish is done well here. Service is always quite friendly! Plus they have a cute little outdoor patio that transports you out of Hollywood and into a garden oasis. However even if seated indoors, it's colorful and fun! Just a great place to grab a bite in the tourist area of Hollywood!

    Khao soi beef short rib

Thai food is here and there so what's the big deal about this one? I dunno, try the Khao soi beef short rib and find out why. It's creamy, it's flavorful, it's got a giant short rib bone in that slides right off. Is that enough for you? No? The portions are generous too so you'll be nice and full. Slide the meat off, mix everything together for a hearty meal full of protein and noodles and what not. Feeling seafood? Then try the Khao soi seafood curry udon instead. My wife got that and barely got to share any with me. That's how good it was. Hefty amounts of shrimp and mussels with udon. Way creamy and delicious too, at least from what little pieces I got to steal from her. So all in all, this was a banger of a restaurant that's a little lowkey but definitely worth trying. Parking kinda sucks but there's a parking structure out back they'll validate for as long as you don't exceed 90 minutes.

Tried this place for the first time and it definitely made it into our Thai rotation! Everything is delicious, portions are good sized, and they are so lovely and friendly. The garlic noodle appetizer was one of the best things we had. Everything is well sauced and not dry at all compared to other Thai takeout. Also got a lychee martini and Thai tea and they were fantastic. Inside is very colorful and decorated. It is a nice change from a lot of modern restaurants that lack decor. If you like Thai, I highly recommend pink pepper!

Parking has changed. The restaurant will only validate for 90 minutes after that time you will be charged the FULL daily rate of 15.99. Make sure you know you license plate number because they need it for validation. It was a little loud in restaurant during this visit between the people and the constant moving of tables. The food was good but I can tell that portion sizes have been scaled back. The service is still great.

Service was very attentive and genuine. It's a nice quiet escape from the noisy Hollywood atmosphere very good frequency very good spiritual ambience. Walking into Pink Pepper felt like stepping into a hidden Hollywood gem -- vibrant energy, warm lighting, and the kind of buzz that tells you something special is happening in the kitchen. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between lively and comfortable. It's stylish without trying too hard. The Food -- A Flavor Story Every dish felt intentional. Bright herbs, layered spices, and that unmistakable Thai balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and savory. * Heat that enhances, not overwhelms * Freshness you can taste immediately * Portions that satisfy without being excessive Each bite delivered depth and authenticity, yet still felt creative and slightly elevated. It wasn't just dinner -- it was an experience. Service That Elevates Everything The staff were attentive without hovering -- knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Recommendations were spot-on. Timing between courses was seamless. It felt curated, not rushed. The Hollywood Factor There's something uniquely fitting about enjoying bold, vibrant cuisine right in Hollywood. The ambiance carries that cinematic charm -- lively conversations, clinking glasses, and the sense that you're part of something memorable. Final Take Pink Pepper Hollywood isn't just a place to eat -- it's a place to savor. From atmosphere to flavor to service, everything came together effortlessly. If you're craving Thai food that feels both authentic and elevated, this is the spot. Would absolutely return -- and bring friends next time.

Pink Pepper is very close to where we live. Walked in around 8 pm on a Sunday night to a surprisingly empty restaurant & was seated immediately. Our server was friendly & brought us water right away. All of the food came out within 15 minutes! We ordered the Tom Yum with Vegetables (Cup), Tom Kha with Shrimp (Pot), Khao Soi Braised Beef, Ba-Mee Pok Pok, Crab Fried Rice, & Thai iced tea. We enjoyed everything but the Tom Yum. It was interesting & the spices were there, but not really any of our vibes. The Tom Kha was yummy! Fragrant & the coconut milk made the dish standout. Crab fried rice could be more flavorful. My boyfriend got the Ba-Mee Pok Pok (with char siu). We liked it. Coconut ice cream was yummy. Now for the famous Khao Soi dish - we saw so many videos recommending it. I ordered it with braised beef since our friend was taking care of the bill & I didn't want to order the most expensive option. The noodles were flavorful & the beef was tender. We'll definitely try the short rib version next!

    PAD THAI SOFT SHELL CRAB
    Jason Y.

I decided to try Pink Pepper after seeing a reel on IG from lisaeatsla. Not many thai restaurants have khao soi so I decided to bookmark it to give a try. In the video she recommended the khao soi, pad thai with soft shell crab and a couple other dishes. The menu is a little on the pricier side so my friend and I split on those 2 items and a mango with sticky rice. The khao soi with beef short rib was $30, pad thai with soft shell crab was $21 and mango with sticky rice was $8. The food took a little longer to come out but that just means they are making it fresh. It came out piping hot and my friend and I didn't leave a crumb to spare. The khao soi was flavorful, creamy and had some nice heat to it. The noodles were al dente, with a mix of veggies and crispy noodles on top. The beef rib was fall off the bone, had a good ratio of fat on it and meat was super tender. This dish was a 10/10 and we drank all the rich and flavorful soup. My friend even wanted to order a bowl of rice to mix the leftover soup with it but we decided to save our stomach for dessert after. The pad thai noodles were cooked to perfection and had a chewy texture to it. It wasn't like other restaurants where it was mushy but had a nice chew to it. The chili flakes gave it a nice kick and balanced well with the overall sweetness of the noodles. The soft shell crab was fried to perfection and were 2 whole crabs. It was basically a whole appetizer on its own. The mango with sticky rice was good but it was missing the mung bean on top. Instead it came with sesame which was my first time eating it like that. The sticky rice was served warm and had coconut milk on top. My friend said he wished there was a tad bit more coconut milk but overall was good enough. The mangos were sweet and fresh as well. They have a lot next to the restaurant which Pink Pepper validates for 90 minutes. They have a sign that says if you stay past 90 minutes the validation is voided and it will cost about $15 for parking. There was street parking when we went so we didn't park inside the lot.

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

The Octopus so crunchy ourtside, soft and chewy and flavorful inside. The yellow noodle soup, so cocoanutty and flavorful. The Jack Makhani a spicy jackfruit yumminess. So glad we saved room for dessert I love Au Lac. I love this DTLA location. Now off to walk in the Concert Hall gardens before a recital!

Each time I've come the waitstaff has been super friendly, and the food amazing. So, when planning a little birthday lunch for my mom's 81st birthday, this was one of the first places I thought of. My mom lives in south LA and we live in the valley, so after picking her up, we wouldn't have to travel far to eat. Although we planned to arrive to the restaurant at 2, traffic was horrible and we arrived at 230pm. After looking for parking, I dropped the fam off at 2:40 so they could sit and look at the menu while I found parking. I get a text from my husband saying they closed at 3 so hurry. This was news to me, as I thought they closed at 5. I found parking and rushed in at 2:48, to see my family outside the restaurant. Perplexed, I went in to ask if we could still eat, as it wasn't yet 3pm. No wait staff came to the front to greet me, so I walked in a bit and asked the waiter if it was okay to eat. The waiter said we close in ten. I said I thought the website said you closed at 5. I must have read it wrong. I understand, but it's not 3 and we came a bit of a distance and it's my mom's 81st birthday. The waiter, whose name is Jack, offered to ask the kitchen if they would still make food. I said yes please would you ask? While Jack was asking, another waiter asked me if I had been helped. I told him yes, that Jack was asking the kitchen if we could still have lunch. This waiter says, we're closing in 10. I'd like to have lunch too. And walks away. Yes, with shade. Jack returns and says it's fine as long as we can order within a few minutes of getting the menu. I say great and we all come in. The 2nd waiter takes our order with the least amount of personality he possibly can, and the whole lunch is slightly awkward and we're not able to truly enjoy ourselves with the feeling of "we better hurry up and eat" lingering. By the time we ordered and received our food (which was delicious as usual) , there were still 4 other groups of customers there, and we actually left the restaurant within a minute or two after the last customers before us. Also, no one came around to ask how our food was and if we needed anything. I'm giving 3 stars because this experience didn't quite sit right with me. Yes, it was near closing, but your doors weren't closed and there was no sign saying last call/order at 2:45 or anything like that. I feel like once the kitchen approved making our lunch, customer service should have been at its peak for paying customers, who gave no attitude and tried to be as polite with the ask as possible. It was not. I still tipped 25%, because Jack (waiter 1) was polite and my 81 old mama who I was celebrating raised me that way, but I'm not sure I'll patronize them again.

NOW FLASH BACK TO HERE. i to echo park only seeking dessert and my friend SHOVED ME over to this tiny cute little establishment. little did i know my upcoming flavor explosion. the sticky rice was WARM, coconutty, sweet and absolutely melted in your mouth while still holding firm, not necessarily mushy. i almost shed a tear. it was STEAMING. and the condensed milk drizzled on top went above and beyond... it was definitely coconut that added just another level of tropical warmth ugh. and those MANGOS??? GIRL ITS APRIL, NOT SUMMER??? yet they were the sweetest, softest, most decadent mangos on planet earth. with that bit of mint, every bite had me in ecstasy... and a food coma. THIS is mango sticky rice. and i WILL be back. also, tell me why i just sat down next to Ian from Smosh. that man's been loving thai food since youtube's inception... and obviously he has impeccable taste *fangirls*

Came here for a quick bite before a walk around the lake with a friend I haven't seen in a couple years. I loved our server and overall experience here I appreciated. In terms of food, the panang curry was more watery than I had expected. It had a lot of nice vegetables and a big serving of rice on the side. I thought the flavors were there but it could have definitely been turned up a little more, but wasn't bad for something quick. My friend got the satay and this was more my style. I love a good char and meat on a stick and this satisfied my craving.

However, as we were wrapping our dinner, all the tables were filled and we felt a bit of a push to hurry up to pay and leave. The waiter didn't say anything to push us to leave, but when you see them giving you the bill before you could finish your food or ask for it, you feel a bit pressured to eat faster. The three of us opted for family style and ordered four entrees and a side of white rice to share. We ordered the stir fried crispy catfish, the sautéed morning glory, the shrimp salad, and the pad kee mao with chicken. The total came out to be about $33.28 per person including tax and 20% tip. I think that's very reasonably priced. We also did not have to wait long at all for our food, which we were so pleasantly surprised. This is definitely a place to go if you want good Thai food and have a short meal break. We ordered and finished our food in less than an hour. We parked a few blocks away in the neighborhood. The parking situation in that plaza was a nightmare. There were cars honking and almost hitting the cars in the front or in the back. I don't live anywhere near Hollywood, but if I do come to see a show at the Pantages Theater in the future, I'll make sure to swing by again.

Ruen Pair is a staple if you live in Thai Town, but it's been a while for me, so I had to remind myself why this place always stood out to me personally. It's their jerky! The pork neck (I think neck?) jerky is something so good you might just slap yourself for never having tried something like it before. It's that damned good. You'll likely enjoy whatever you order, but please make sure at least one is that.
