The tranquil park of Central Park where the touristskeep away, and you actually feel like you are not in New York

What a nice find in the middle of Central Park, specifically towards the northside. We were walking along the trail and discovered the waterfall in the middle of it, so peaceful.

There's too much to see in Central Park. Something that gets overlooked is this natural site. There's actually a freaking waterfall. It's not like it's big, but it is nice. This is a pretty area for walking. It can be hard to find. It's not in the part of the park where there's lots of tourist attractions crammed together. Just north of Jackie Onassis Reservoir is a creek that contains several waterfalls. It's pretty to look at for awhile. There aren't as many tourists. It's best to access it from the west side around 106th. It has a trail at the Great Hill. The trail leads through several twists to the waterfalls.

Fun place to spend time while in NYC. I enjoyed the North Woods Loch Waterfall. It was a nice time and got to see an Owl. Perfect for spending time with kids, family, or significant others or even by yourself. Plenty of street parking available.

There are at five manmade waterfalls in Central Park and two of them rank right up there as a my favorite places in the park. The first one is a hidden gem, especially if you do not frequent the northern end of the park. It can be found in the area called the Loch in the North Woods, east 101st to 110th street. I am one of those "directionally challenged" people, but I believe you get to it if you enter along the rec lane at roughly east 105th street and hike down. This one is my favorite. It is the most dramatic of the two, cascading down 14 feet over the rocky edge into a pool. I think it is lovely all year round, but it is particularly inviting during the summer. It is dim, cool and quiet here, far from the hustle and bustle that you find from the middle to the south end of the park. The sound of the water is so peaceful. It is a perfect place to take five, or enjoy a picnic lunch with friends (take your garbage with you!) The second one is on the west side, at the other end of the same stream in an area known as The Ravine. This is roughly between west 101st and 103rd streets. If you are on the rec lane, you actually hear it as you pass the 102nd Street Transverse, but you will not see it because it is underneath you. You have to veer off the path and hike down to it. There you will find it, framed by lovely rocks and trees, spilling into a sunlight dappled pool. This waterfall gets more sunlight and is found more frequently by Park visitors than the one in the Northern Woods as well. It is still a delightful site to visit if you have not been there yet!

One of the best kept secret in Central Park, the North Woods. It's the most natural area in the park, and on the north end, hardly anyone heads up that way. Prepare a picnic and wear some comfy shoes, you'll be there a while. Location: There are five hidden waterfalls in Central Park, and while I found, I think, four of them, two are really just trickles down a rock face. The other two were strong flowing, with little bridges and vantage points. When you go and stand near one, just listening to the sounds of nature and the rush of the falls, you might actually forget where you are for a minute or two. It's hard to believe that this green garden oasis could really be in the middle of 8 million hurried people, less one. Wandering through the woods in the early Spring wasn't as good as the failed camping trip I had planned, but when you close your eyes, and sit on a rock next to a babbling brooke, it's pretty damn close to the same thing. The North Woods really is like "back-country" camping (which in my day was just camping, but whatever). It's pack it in, pack it out. No trash receptacles, no recycling bins. Any wrappers or water bottles stay with you at all times. And that's what makes it great. Grab your paper bag at lunch time, or pack a bag and a book for a Sunday afternoon, the search for the prefect spot next to the waterfalls in the North Woods won't disappoint. It really is like being out in real nature, even if the waterfalls are man-made. Wildlife: I had a very close encounter of the natural kind with a raccoon. He was just trotting along with me, when I found the first waterfall. After finding an off-the-path comfortable spot near the tippy top of the woods, I remained relatively uninterrupted save for a few birds who decided that building a nest in a tree nearby, but I didn't mind. It's all part of the North Woods charm.

A nice spot at the top of the park. I went in January and it wasn't very busy but I imagine it can get a bit crowded during the warmer months. If you like taking pictures, this is a nice exercise in trying to blur water, and there were a bunch of bird watchers along the path as well. We even saw a falcon!

Love New York Central Park is so beautiful I love it we are always there you meet people good people

This part of the park should not be missed by dog lovers and nature lovers alike. There are some nice mini falls (though very very small) which are a pleasant surprise and auditory delight for pups traversing with their people. Recs: start from the upper west side and head north or if your traveling by car and looking for more ample street parking enter near the top of the park.

Got lost looking for Lasker Rink. Early spring or thawed winter is the perfect time to see waterfalls with icicles.

Besides that, I never paid much mind to the park, especially in light of the fact that it's not in my stomping grounds. Nevertheless, I had just finished brunching nearby and since it was such a gorgeous day out, I decided to take a walk through the park and check it out. MSP is not large - the center of it is a large green space with paths on the perimeter that contain walking paths and benches. In addition to the Shake Shack, there's also a small seating area nearby where you can sit and eat, or just hang out. The park is ideal of people watching, eating your lunch, or just walking around a space that contrasts the hustle and bustle of the surrounding areas. Because of the weather, it was a little crowded but still pleasant. Overall, MSP is fine - it's not worth coming to unless you're in the area IMO, but a pleasant spot nonetheless.

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
