Seafood frozen - what a shame! Desserts were burnt and unlike the other food which was average but edible... desserts were horrible. Was so excited walking up to the venue from the location and exterior looks amazing but it's so indecisive... the decor is so confusing and definitely a lot more money was spent on the cluttered junk inside rather than training the staff and quality of food. Decor was ocean side, ritzy, Japanese? French? Asian? European? What the heck? Such a waste of Moët bottles as well - cluttered on the tables... With the right changes what an amazing place this would be.. definitely fell short for us. I was dealing with Christelle and I am extremely disappointed in her behaviour and the way she has handled a sad situation. I originally booked my wedding in February of 2024. We paid a deposit of $3,500 to secure our booking. Due to unforeseen circumstances we unfortunately had to cancel our Wedding. Prior to needing to cancel the wedding we tried contacting Christelle for venue and set up information for styling on the day with many many failed attempts and ignored messages. We contacted Christelle in regards to cancelling the wedding with notice of over a year. She has been completely unprofessional and has made this situation so much more stressful than needed. We kindly asked for our deposit money back as we had given ample amount of notice, we were happy to pay the full deposit amount until the date of our wedding had been booked by somebody else and if the date had not been filled we were willing to have Waterfront on the pier retain our deposit. She has been nothing but rude and insensitive towards the situation and myself. Don't be fooled by her kind act when looking at booking the venue as once you have paid a deposit she becomes completely inattentive. read more

Probably my favourite destination for a business lunch, The Waterfront is a classy venue, which, strangely enough, happens to be situated with panoramic views next to Port Phillip Bay. The place is quite massive so there's not a huge degree of atmosphere as it's usually empty during weekday lunches. I haven't been in the evenings as yet, but I'd imagine it would be great for a romantic date with a stroll along the pier afterwards. I can't imagine ever needing to make a booking to this place because it's so huge, and I like living life on the edge like a rock star where I never have to book a restaurant. Yeah baby, that's how I roll. I've never had any complaints about the food here, and my top three dishes here would be 1. Seafood linguini (naturally) 2. Tuna steak fillet 4. Salmon fillet Next time I'm going to try the Moreton bay bug risotto The starters here (particularly the garlic prawns in cream sauce) are generous enough in size that they could serve as a main. A not-so-well known fact that due to the privacy of the place (it's tucked behind a few other restaurants) some of Melbourne's most important business deals have been known to happen here. read more

Location is great and the food is only okay. Service was poor. We were sitting in a table next to a window on a sunny afternoon with an unfixed curtain but the staff made it hard to change table even though there were plenty at the time. The food looks nothing like on their provided pictures. Staff was not attentive as we finished our meal for 15' but no one approached us and offered our desserts. Will not come back again. read more

Lovely location, both at day or at night, indoor or outdoor. Menu has a good variety and none of the plates we tried disappointed us. This place is so huge and scarcely visited by customers, it actually surprises me how it stays open. The service suffers a bit for that as the few occupied tables are spread so much around the site that you struggle to get their (lovely) staff attention just out of the sheer distances that need to be covered. That aside, I really enjoy eating here, especially when after a romantic-ish dinner. Prices are a bit high (expect to spend 75$/person with drinks) but serves are decent so surely you won't be leaving hungry. read more

We made the mistake of booking Christmas lunch here. We waited over 1.5 hours for our first drinks to even arrive which I ended up going to the bar and serving ourselves, same problem with the sides for our food. Took over 3.5 hours to get all three courses and mains were well over cooked or sitting under warmers too long. Most diners in our section walked out before their dessert came. Service was horrendous and staff inexperienced. They also forgot our final course and then ran out of the dessert we'd ordered 3 hours earlier by the time we prompted them yet again. Would not recommend whatsoever. Most people complained and were very unhappy, which is an extra shame seeing as it was Christmas. Not at all 'fine dining'. What a gong show. Visited from Adelaide and went out with my partners parents for lunch and we had high expectations. We spent about $600 on our lunch and were bitterly disappointed. The staff were nice enough but the food was below average. The $140 lobster linguine had no flavor and the $180 chilled platter was terrible. Reading the rest of these reviews I am wondering if the seafood was frozen. The calamari salad was disgusting and the crabs and bugs were undersized. Had we had not paid top dollar I wouldn't be so critical but I expected a lot more for our money. I hope the owners read reviews on Yelp as word of mouth can make or break your business. read more

The Service was terrible. We asked for Red wine and got white, The entree menu they provided wasn't available and they gave us a choice from the normal menu which we chose the King Prawn cocktail, which was very poor quality (and badly presented). Then apparently they didn't do steak any more, like seriously! I was looking forward to that more than anything else and had to get the chicken ugh! My partner got the Mushroom Risotto which was so overpowered with Parmesan cheese and pepper I could have used it as seasoning on my chicken! Even the desert was terrible, when we asked (at the start of the night) what the desert would be we were told it would be a surprise and they weren't wrong! We got dehydrated sticky date pudding and Raspberry Creme Brulee which was more like a cake, It must have been what was left over from lunch. Every table around us had complaints! when we ordered off the proper menu (Kilpatrick Oysters) we got something that looked like a bacon salsa on fresh oysters. and bread that never arrived. The whole time the restaurant was freezing! They finally got 1 heater going which helped a little but by that time we were shivering, it wasn't until we got home and had a hot shower that we even felt alive again! Ate here last night PRIOR to being informed about the owner and General Manager being investigated by immigration over exploitation of employees on working visas, as well as exploitation and outstanding debts to past employees. Google: Restaurateur living lavish lifestyle owes former employees thousands of dollars. To the experience on the night. Apart from a slight mishap where the menu brought out wasn't matched to our groupon coupon (or whatever coupon was provided by my dinner partner), the food was ok. We had a seafood platter and it wasn't to die for but it wasn't bad. To be honest, the food was ok. But I ate here some years ago under the previous owner and manager, and the place was full on class, in every way. We'd ordered the cheapest bottle of wine at that time, at $100. The new owner has had this place now for around two years, and in that time he's let the place slip in the area of prestige. The toilet last night was filthy. Pee all over the floor.......really......almost covered the floor. Water all over the basin area. The toilet is very clearly not being cleaned with the standard frequency required in a restaurant that markets itself as a high end restaurant, and in my opinion is possibly a reflection of their hygiene standards. Upon leaving the toilet and walking along the very short corridor, I noticed that the rubber type flooring had lifted significantly at the join lines in several places, right in the middle of the walkway. As it's clearly a safety hazard, I'm pretty sure there's some safety regulation that's being breached there. Given that the food wasn't extraordinary, and especially with the state of those toilets last night, I don't consider this place to be anywhere near the standard it was before the current owner and manager took the reigns. Add to that the controversy around both those at the helm now, and I'm making a point of staying away for good. read more
