As soon as i walked in it was a friendly Asian guy working behind the counter who greeted me, I'm a guy who always has to study the menu so i walk out satisfied haha!! I was like is there a favourite & he was like the fish of the day is always popular :), that day was Spot Trevally which i haven't had in yonks, got a greek salad, Kamara chips (like sweet potato) & a L&P can :D!! If i can remember wright for the lot it was just under or just over $30 cause i got a packet of cheese Curlies &  cheese n bacon Rashuns :D. Waiting time was about 10 - 15 minutes, you become an expert at counting the waiting time when your hungry :)!! Without a doubt the Trevally was on point for taste same with the greek salad :), i left the Kamara chips & L&P last.. for every sip 1 chip :D!!.. the chips were definately the highlight cause i can't remember the last time i had them!! The chips and drink were a bit more expensive as per usual but when they dont sell them at normal supermarkets you buy them when you see them :)!! Whenever I'm back in Melbourne I'm definitely coming back for a feed even if it's just for the Chips :D.

You can even continue down the healthy route and have a salad instead of fries. All that aside, whenever I have come here (twice - i gave it a second go!) it has been exactly like the two star rating says.... MEH. There is too much batter, the seafood does not pack a punch, the chips aren't that addictive and overall there is no warm fuzzy feeling like you've had a good feed. The service is good and the backyard a nice spot to eat but the food really is lacking. I'd rather go to an old school fish and chip shop that has more flavoursome food at much more inexpensive prices.

Hooked IS similar to Grill'd in their concept of making traditionally unhealthy food healthy, and to be honest I'm not quite sure they pull that off. But who gets fish 'n' chips when they're trying to be healthy!? BUT, I have always found the food here to be delicious. The fish burger is truly to die for. I mean, how did they make it so tasty?! The chips are done 'gourmet' style with whisperings of sweet potato sprinkled on top, and comes on a plate - not wrapped in today's newspaper. Plus, bottled beer is available. Beer + fish burger = happy Jackie. However, the outside courtyard is gorgeous but rather small, and I do find the prices to be... a little high. You'll need a twenty to get a full meal. There's definitely no minimum chips at this fish 'n' chip joint!

It still takes a long time to go from ordering to eating with all the people working there, just because it is so busy. I must admit though, that they do a pretty mean chicken schnitzel burger, and it's pretty cheap for such a good shop (like around $6 cheap). Chip-wise, I've had better. If you're looking for the ultimate chip, I know a place in Paynesville, but that's a good four hour drive, and you'd really have a serious craving if you needed to do that.
