Great service, I'd recommend the calamari and chips along with the Morton bay bugs. If you're looking for something sweet afterwards, I enjoyed the profiteroles.

Way over cooked and very tough.

Previous reviews indictated this restaurant is known for its steaks so I thought I'd give it a try. Well, after further review I'll give it a thumbs down. Terrible and nothing but excuses. Ordered the Wagyu filet. As you can see it is almost inedible. $100.00 for that? Do yourself a favor, if you are in Melbourne and looking for a steak avoid this place.

First off, kudos to the staff at Waterfront, the service here was amazing. We had the best French waiter taking care of us, and head waiter was so friendly and helpful as well. On to the food, I had the swordfish, on a bed of what tasted like ratatouille and olives, it was a thumbs down for me, not the best swordfish I've ever had. I didn't want to come here and not have seafood, it's in their name, and to me, if it's in your name, that's what you want to be "known for" and it should be pretty good. I also tried the salmon fillet, with fennel risotto, and again, I've had better. If I ever came back, I'd just stick to the Waterfront Classic Seafood Chowder with toasted Ciabatta. That was tasty and nice, I think for some people it'd be enough as a main course. It's a schnazzy place, right on Southbank and being so, the ideal location for people watching. We even had a jazz street performer right outside. We sat at a wide comfy table. But the for the food, I'd say average, nothing that really opened my eyes and wow-ed me. It's served to you and looks beautiful, I can only wish if it tasted the same. I expected more with the location/grandeur of the place. But location, service, and look is up there.

Great location, delicious and fresh seafood + salad. Staff was very friendly and attentive. My friend and I highly recommend the market sashimi of the day. Filled with locals and tourist alike.

Wow!! This is by far the best meal I've had in Australia. All the apps (tuna tartar, mussels with coconut chili, pork belly) were phenomenal. The mains - even better. The BBQ ribs were so tasty - a little too much BBQ sauce. The seafood linguini had a nice kick to it. So good. Lobster - live in the kitchen - right to your plate. Watching the chefs work like a machine is impressive. Everything was well worth the price! Service was incredible and very fast. You won't be disappointed in this joint. Must try if you're in Melbourne!

I have fond memories of the water front in a different location from long before we moved west 7-8 years back; and I was both excited and concerned about revisiting, with nostalgia running so high at the moment I am sure we have all rewatched a favourite childhood TV show only to be dismayed at how much we no longer get it! Thankfully this experience was nothing like that, it rocked the staff were spot on, friendly informative, never pushy or pretentious. Not everything we wanted was available later on Sunday afternoon, but there were some good substitute suggestions and they happily gave us more time to consider. The food was good, the sauces never overpowered the seafood, which was fresh and tasty, the presentations were nice and we enjoyed the sashimi and bugs (something I struggle to find over west). The venue has moved further down the river, but the pleasant relaxed view and atmosphere is the same; the outdoor seating is full but does not quite feel like you are jammed in as some places in Melbourne can make you feel.

Great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Enjoy good food and get some people watching in. Good selection on the menu, even if your not a seafood eater.

Cold wet day - but still warm outside

Love this place! Either for a formal meal or just drop in for lunch or a snack Fresh seafood at its best scollops oysters or fresh Sashimi which I love all washed down with a light beer. Dressed like a pauper I am still welcomed and looked after like a king. Better positioned now at Southbank and away from the glitzy atmosphere of the Crown Casino I feel more comfortable in this relaxed atmosphere. This is how a restaurant should be run.

We tried the steak and another dish there although I was not sure about the name. They were just awesome and tasty. The location may be a little hard to find but it's not a big problem after all. I would recommend this place for seafood

The service was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and very inviting. The food was good as well. The burger was phenomenal while the steak was just ok. It was the Aged Rib Eye. Really have to appreciate places that know how to make the customer feel valued!!! I would go back for sure to get the burger and give the steak another shot.

We took it because we had just flown in that morning and couldn't/didn't want to stay out late. Interesting thing is the restaurant was half full the entire time so we didn't understand why there wasn't availability any later. Enough of that, on to the food. Appetizer sampler was ok. Nothing stood out. Calamari, mini sausages, pork belly, bruschetta, salad. Wouldn't order again. Regular and garlic breads for another appetizer. Ok but nothing to make me order again. Lots of meat options and I chose the filet out of preference and suggestion by the waiter. Cooked well but the cut of meat was just ok. Good sized portion and in this case, as it should never be with a good cut of meet, the peppercorn sauce came in handy. Side salad instead of "chips" (fries) which wasn't anything special. Service was slow and we didn't have one consistent waiter.

The service needs a little improvement. I was barely acknowledged as I entered the restaurant before I was directed to go upstairs in an empty floor with about 10-15 tables. We were then assigned to the last table by the wall furthest away as if we were penalized. Remember those days where you had to stand on a corner facing the wall as a kid for timeout! That's what I felt like. The entire place was EMPTY!Service was slow and none of the servers looked like they enjoyed their work. In fact, the server took our order AFTER taking the orders from other customers who came in after us. The steak was tender and was nicely grilled but quality of the steaks was middle of the road. Just tasted like your average steak at an average restaurant at an average price -- nothing spectacular. And by the way, the salad tasted average too.

No imagination or presentation with this plate. Just a plate of breaded calamari that arrived less than 5 minutes after I ordered it. I then ordered the Ribeye. It was chewy and had a lot of gristle in it. Half of the pieces I ate I was gnawing through gristle, just not a good piece of meat for 75 AUD. Was not worth the cost at all.

The first time I ventured in was to indulge in what is likely the happiest of Happy Hours - $2 oysters and $12 glasses of Mumm champagne - that is ACTUAL champagne, people.
